Sanga is a not a legendary player. He scored most of the runs in later part of his career that too in batting friendly conditions. He never scored against the quality bowling attack. See sanga stats.. sry if i hurt you. Just my view.
Current any form of cricket can't be completed without Virat. 1. Hayden - No doubt, best opener ever 2. Sehwag - Brilliant average and brilliant man to open 3. Sir Donald Bradman - The best cricket player of all time, and the best athlete ever to dominate a sport so well 4. Tendulkar - Him and Bradman would be unstoppable 5. Yeah that's what I feel even if you see the cricket between 1990-2007 and compare with 2007-till now you will find that the difference in quality lowered all over the world. There is hardly any bowler of bowling 150kmph in today's world cricket and there is hardly any player can tackle challenging wickets so overall I feel the quality of cricket is the lowest of all time in this era
Arvindh Mani agreed. From the current team I see 4 world class test players there and that's Amla, AB, Steyn and Anderson. I'll explain why I'm happy with those 4: Amla: true, patient player. Will dog out an innings and be the rock against any attack. AB: natural, gifted and flair. Averaging over 50 and counter attacks better than anybody else in the world. Arguably the greatest batsman of our generation (alongside Kohli who should also be I the current XI) Steyn: for me the greatest bowler of our generation. Unbelievably fit when he's not injured and can come in and seam the ball, reverse the ball and bowl at 145km/h+ Anderson: swings both ways, great record. For me, like I said above, you've got to have Kohli in there as well. The rest still have a lot to show and are definitely only there on current form. Fair shout to Warner, Root, Williamson and Stokes but I think they still need to do more before they truly cement their spot in that team. I refuse to accept Smith in that Current XI because the Past XI bowling attack would end his career the way he moves so much.
I will show you how the present world xi looks like. Hasim Amla David Warner Joe root Virat Kohli Steve Smith Ab Ben stokes Ashwin /jadeja Lyon/steyn Starc Anderson
i will start off by saying its completely unfair that no one even thought for a second about muralitharan... its a little sad that dravid, botham, pollock, ntini werent even discussed.. but one thing that is for certain is that dale steyn already has the right to walk into the best ever 11 based on how much of a legend he is...
Sobers remains greatest all rounder. He was a more devastating attacking batsman than Kallis, he didn't play the likes of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to boost his average and he kept bowling whereas Kallis was not so much an all-rounder in later years (his test bowling average would have declined). Kallis and Barnes are the best to play for Wales.

David Rice because i am counting about last decade i.e from 2000 it would have been before that he would have definately been a part of that cause there is no playing X1 without him:)
Wasim Akram retired in 2001 I believe haha. Shane Warne was far greater than that cheat Murali. And let's not forget, if Warne hadn't been banned for a year in 2004, he would've got 800 wickets easily

The old English players were brick-solid batsmen but with Bradman, Headley and Richards in the team you are certainly not going to be short of runs. With that bowling line up I will back every single one of my batting positions to outscore ANY batsman from the subcontinent without a shadow of a doubt because you are playing this game at either Lords, the home of cricket, or the MCG if you are picking the ultimate team you must pick the ultimate venue.

That's a shame man! He's not even the twelfth man! Freakin' weird And sehwag instead of the great sunny gavaskar, the first man to cross the 10k run mark in cricket, when none of the two given openers have made even 9000 runs
I would add Hutton and Compton I think that Keith Miller was a far greater allrounder than Botham .. Trueman was probably a better bowler than Lillie also I think .. Hammond was one of England's greatest players if you are going back to to 1930/40s Personally I think that it is not possible to really pick a team from over one hundred years of first class cricket . There are simply far to many great players . So the best way is to pick the best players for each era say 10 to 20 years
Add Hutton Compton Hammond Lindwall Miller Trueman but as I say it is not possible to select just 11 great players from 120 years of Cricket,, there are to many.
Sehwag can be replaced with Gavaskar. I am quite shocked with the inclusion of Jacques Kallis at #6, he can only bat up the order. Gary Sobers is a better choice at that position.
1. Hayden 2. Cook (VC) 3. Don Bradman 4. tendulkar 5. Lara 6. Imran Khan (C) 7. Sangakarra (K) 8. Wasim 9. Warne 10. Murali 11. Mc Grath 12. Sobers Sobers out for Imran because Imran was a really great captain as well which gives advantage. plus we have two spinners in Murali and warne. Mc Grath for line and length. wasim for swing.
All over the last 20 years Shailesh You need to update your cricket history. It is a futile exercise to try to pick 11 players from a 120 years of cricket. You are illustrating that with your selections good some of them were.
S. Gavaskar, Barry Richards, Don Bradman, Viv Richards, Zaheer Abbas, G. Sobers, Adam Gilchrist, Waseem Akram, Malcolm Marshall, Shane Warne, Curtly Ambrose. ..... 12th men onwards....Imran Khan, Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, Michael Holding, Sachin Tendulkar, Glen McGrath, Kumar Sangakkara, Mathew Hayden, Richard Hadlee, Waqar Younis
Facing bowlers like Marshall,Garner, Holding,Andy Roberts without Helmet in those era is like jumping in a river without knowing swimming and He has done it with ease
The fact that Sangakkara didn't play his whole career as a wk is the only reason he gets overlooked as wk. If he hadn't given up the gloves, he was easily better than Gilly
YOU COULD ALSO INCLUDE THE GENIUS THAT WAS Denis Compton his record was phenomenal 64 centuries between 1946 and 1950 over 500 wickets 12 test centuries averaging over 70 at that time ...also managed to play foot ball for Arsenal . Despite losing 6 years of the war and not playing any ware near the amount of test cricket they do now he still scored over 123 centuries over 39000 runs and nearly 6000 runs averaging over 50 . A true sporting hero who could on his day take any bowler apart. Love to have seen him against Mulerie and Warne . He was also very charismatic charming . Than another genius Keith Miller a member of the really great Australian side a allrounder far greater than Botham both as a bowler very fast and dangerous.. could turn a match in a couple of overs . On his day a magnificent batsman .
Another Joke of a selection.... How come you leave out Sobers and Muralitharan for All time World XI? And even likes of Sangakkara and Viv Richards be in the team ahead of Kallis or Hayden..!
It sure illustrates does it not mcdelive, that you cannot logically just select 11 out of 120 years of cricket.. There are too many great players.. maybe select 4 or 5 11s from each era to play against each other My 11 would be Hobbs Hutton Bradman Compton Tendulker Sobers Miller Gilchrist Truman Warne MulleriI bet it would take some beating it has everything another 11 would be Sutcliffe Gavasker Lara Richards Hammond Sangakkara Botham Ambrose Marshall Laker verity. one could go on and pick another 11 to include such greats as Hadlee May De villiers Kallis ect ect see what I mean by 120 years of cricket . ??
I cannot believe they didn't choose the highest wicket taker in tests muralidaran and one of the greatest test batsmen in our genaration sangakkara to this team. Makes me sad.
Murali isn't a name that many people would throw in solely because his record is inflated by versing BD and ZIM so many times. Not to mention the fact his action would not be accepted today. Warne at Lord's was unstoppable though.
Bcz both of them fckd BD and other asian teams, warne performed everywhere. Sehwag cud have been replaced by gavaskar easily. Sanga scored his prime form after 2008-09, when top bowlers retired or lost form. Morever he cudnt be put at no 3 when u got don bradman, same happened with dravid

@KUMAR SANILsangakara is proper classical test batsman with better technique
1. Hayden - No doubt, best opener ever
2. Sehwag - Brilliant average and brilliant man to open
3. Sir Donald Bradman - The best cricket player of all time, and the best athlete ever to dominate a sport so well
4. Tendulkar - Him and Bradman would be unstoppable
5. Richards - Sublime, can always knock up runs, better than Lara in my opinion
6. Sobers - Better than Kallis.
7. Gilchrist (wk) - Best batting keeper ever. Can't say no
8. Akram - Once again, brilliant bowler and can bat
9. Marshall - Best fast bowler ever to play a test match, no doubt
10. Lillee/Lee - Both quick, aggressive and fun to watch, surprised Lee didn't get mentioned
11. Warne - Best bowler of all time, but can't bat to save his life
You had me until you mentioned Lee. He was only the 4th best bowler in the Aussie team in his prime.
Like it was pointed out months ago, feel free to select a team YOU think would destroy all those in its path. The beauty of opinion without insulting others is that people will get your point without hassle.

By comparing Present and past world xi teams, you realise how mediocre the entire present xi look.
That's because current team mean just 10 years of international cricket while past team is more than 60 years of cricket.
Nah, people overrate the present. The present team has a couple of players who are in the team only because of form.
I'll explain why I'm happy with those 4:
Amla: true, patient player. Will dog out an innings and be the rock against any attack.
AB: natural, gifted and flair. Averaging over 50 and counter attacks better than anybody else in the world. Arguably the greatest batsman of our generation (alongside Kohli who should also be I the current XI)
Steyn: for me the greatest bowler of our generation. Unbelievably fit when he's not injured and can come in and seam the ball, reverse the ball and bowl at 145km/h+
Anderson: swings both ways, great record.

How can you not have Bradman best cricketer to ever play the game averaging just under a hundred
Past test world X1 of last decade 1. G. Smith 2. V.Sehwag 3. Ricky ponting 4.Sachin Tendulkar 5. BC Lara 6. J kallis 7.Adam gilchrist 8.Shane Warne 9.Allan Donald 10. Glen mcgrath 11.M Murlitharan 12. kevin pieterson
still got kallis in !!!!! why not pick a genuine bowler ie Wasim
David Rice because i am counting about last decade i.e from 2000 it would have been before that he would have definately been a part of that cause there is no playing X1 without him:)
i'd pick Flintoff ahead of Kallis . If the batting line up selected can't score runs Kallis won't
Wasim Akram retired in 2001 I believe haha. Shane Warne was far greater than that cheat Murali. And let's not forget, if Warne hadn't been banned for a year in 2004, he would've got 800 wickets easily

Greg Chappell, Richard Hadlee and Joel Garner make up my 15-man squad. I think its right to stack the batting with dashers.
41 test centuries, almost 52 avg, 62 half centuries, three times twin centuries, twin centuries in his 100th test match (only record holder) vs South Africa.. three times wc winner, two times as a captain, two times champions Trophy winner as a captain, 16 consecutive test match winning player as well as a captain, only player in the history who won over 100 test match as a player..many award winner like ice player of the year, icc test player of the year, icc test captain of the year, 4 times allan border medel winner, The Living Legend _ THE RICKY PONTING... u guys missed out him, seriously!!!! joke of the century...hats off to experts..#underknowledge

selecting a test team and didn't discussed Rahul Dravid.
Selecting a test team and not discussing Mohammad Ashraful...
Akshat Malsaria he's nowhere near good enough to get on that team. Why are Indian fans so delusional about there own players ability?
Ollie Woolsey , I just want to say that he is well known as THE WALL .
Shadlee Rahman , Mohd. Ashraful was a brilliant player but his career and stats was not long enough to include him in this team.
Maybe , in next decade team we would see Shakib bhai.
Akshat Malsaria Ashraful was terrible he averaged about 20 in test cricket. Certainly Dravid was a world class player in his time but you're completely delusional if you think he's better than Lara kallis pointing tendulkar Richards bradman sobers just to name a few

This team is much better than the one selected by the experts. Wicketkeeping duties to be split alternatively through the match between Grace, Sobers and Lara who were outstanding fielders so when 1 player gets tired other can take over or else when Grace and Sobers get their chance to bowl for the team.

Well that was an ungainly exercise...there is no way you can choose best XI of all time. You can just choose a time period and select best players in it.
K G yeah mate! You could easily put all Indians from the past in there, and it'll destroy everyone. You could do the same with a bunch of Aussies. It's just so huge, and wonderful to talk about

Bradman, Hobbs, Lara, Tendulkar, Richards, Botham, Knott, Warne, Akram, Lillee, Ambrose
Hayden, Greenidge, Bradman, V.Richards, R.Ponting, S.Waugh, G.Sobers, M.Marshall, S.Warne, D.Lillee, McGrath.
Gavaskar Had to be in the team as well
Sehwag can be replaced with Gavaskar. I am quite shocked with the inclusion of Jacques Kallis at #6, he can only bat up the order. Gary Sobers is a better choice at that position.
1.Hayden
2.Gavaskar
3.bradman
4.chappell
5.richards
6.tendulkar
7.sobers
8.akram
9.Warne
10. Marshall
11. Lillee
12. Alan Border.
Ricky Pointing as a captain at no.4
1. Hayden
2. Cook (VC)
3. Don Bradman
4. tendulkar
5. Lara
6. Imran Khan (C)
7. Sangakarra (K)
8. Wasim
9. Warne
10. Murali
11. Mc Grath
12. Sobers
Sobers out for Imran because Imran was a really great captain as well which gives advantage. plus we have two spinners in Murali and warne. Mc Grath for line and length. wasim for swing.
Sehwag
Hayden
Ponting(C)
Tendulkar
Lara
kallis
Sangakkara
Akram
Warne
Brett Lee
McGrath
Hayden
smith
sangakarra
tendulkar
kallis
ponting
Gilchrist
warne
Pollock
akram
mcgrath
He has an agressor and a defender as openers. Plus, you can't argue with 9000+ test runs
Wtf smith doin here
Where the hell is don bradman
Sam Felmingham yeah you can't not have Bradman in a best XI
Wait where is The Don
Facing bowlers like Marshall,Garner, Holding,Andy Roberts without Helmet in those era is like jumping in a river without knowing swimming and He has done it with ease
Main XI: Sehwag, Tendulkar, Bradman, Viv Richards, Lara, Sangakkara(wk), Sobers, Akram, Marshall, Murali, McGrath.
1st Reserves XI: Hayden, Gavaskar, Ponting, Dravid, Miandad, Kallis, Gilchrist(wk), Warne, Steyn, Ambrose, Garner
2nd Reserves XI: Hobbs, G.Smith, Y.Khan, Jayawardene, Inzamam, Waugh, Dhoni(wk), R.Hadlee, Kumble, Waqar, Lillee
The fact that Sangakkara didn't play his whole career as a wk is the only reason he gets overlooked as wk. If he hadn't given up the gloves, he was easily better than Gilly
dhoni ?????
Mine would trash yours
1.L Hutton
2.B Richards
3.Don Bradman
4.G Headley
5.G Pollock
6.G Sobers
7.C Walcott
8.B O Reilly
9. S Barnes
10.G Lohmann
11.J.J Ferris
How could you leave out the real greats such as Hutton Hammond Compton Lindwall Miller Laker Bedser
1. Mathew Hayden
2. sehwag
3. Ricky pointing

Another Joke of a selection.... How come you leave out Sobers and Muralitharan for All time World XI? And even likes of Sangakkara and Viv Richards be in the team ahead of Kallis or Hayden..!
mcdelive or Sehwag
mcdelive shut up stupid
Viv was best in odi not test. Only sehwag is the one which cud have been replaced with gavaskar
Mate there are no joke selection Mc there is the simple fact that you cannot just select just 11 great player s from 120 years of cricket...

Warne at Lord's was unstoppable though.
sangakkara bats that is at dons place..only one spinner playing so that shld be Warne.
I tend to agree of the modern batsman Sangakkara is up there.
