@ Саня Уля It saddens me to hear that! I was left with the impression that after 1991 and the fall of the Soviet Union, the Russians, being in a transitional period, entered an era where they began to search for their identity, trying to reconnect with their old cultural values, which Communism had almost destroyed. I also believed that the Russian people made an effort to be spiritually reborn, through Orthodoxy. Watching the video I found out that after all these years they still live in a spiritual darkness. This indicates a bad spiritual state. Their present condition reminded me how russian society was in the 1900s, before the October Revolution broke out. This, bearing in mind the current situation in Russia, means that you will relive a very long difficult period where you will be tested very hard again! When we turn away from God, in the end we pay the consequences. Many warm regards (Ιoannis).

Tatars were are and will be free to believe in Islam, Yakut to believe Buddhism, etc. There was no segregation on the national basis (English style of colonization). Indians were Indians in the context of the British Empire, no matter what. In Russia, then and now e.g. Chuvash people could freely call themselves and be considered both "Chuvash" and "Russian". Moreover, it isn't just a 'now' thing: even in Russian Empire people of different minor ethnicities could make a great career if they were baptized (a lot of examples from military commanders like Bagration, artists like Ayvazovskiy, etc.). This would be unheard of in British Empire. The higher being you're looking for is the Christian God. I know you must've read this online a million times and think "yeah sure..". I was like that once, I even started to hate these ""overly religious people"". Until I hit rock bottom and got saved by Jesus. How did I get "saved"? I was depressed, wanted to end my life, just DONE. I received a bible as a gift 1 year prior from a girl I didn't want any contact with. So on a random day I decided that I should read. I didn't have anything else to lose anyway. So I open my bible, I read the first few sentences and behold I have a waterfall streaming down my face, I was crying so hard and please note I barely cry and never would I ever imagine that the sentences: "[1] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [2] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. [3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." Would make me cry like a baby. Ever. And aside from crying I got such a strong indescribable feeling throughout my whole body... kind of like electricity flowing from my head to toes. Truly you have to feel it to understand it. So that's the moment I started to become religious (I was atheist before, idk if I mentioned that) So I got to know more about God and why Christianity was the true true religion. Why there's so many bad things happening in the world? (Which is btw because humans have free will which God gave to us, and this is what a lot of humans CHOOSE to with their lives.) If everyone would follow the ways of the teachings of Jesus, it would've been a paradise here on earth. And just like that my addictions started to dissapear in a few weeks, I started praying for everyone and everything, I had a purpose in my life, not suicidal anymore. And now (2 years later) I can see that many prayers have been and are still being answered. Me opening and reading my bible was a prayer from my friend whom I cut off all contact with (I later contacted her again). I saw the world in a different light. Now I know this is a whole essay and you may not read it... but I felt that God put it on my heart to comment under your comment. You might be struggling with your own addictions, you might be going through a tough situation, you might have voices in your head telling you to end your misery but I am here to tell you that once you start seeking God, pray to him sincerely and understand that Jesus sacrificed his life for us things will start to change. And perhaps you'll ignore my message, but if it wasn't meant for you, I know it was meant for somebody who will read this. May God bless you as you receive Him in your heart.❤ He speaks to you in many ways, you just have to open your eyes and ears. P.s. pray in your mind, whatever people can hear out loud, so can the devil. Only God can hear your thoughts.

I reckon you've found some after 2 years, lol, but if not: there are LOADS, but they're about a specific topic &/or country, so that's what you'd have to look up.

We have a catholic hurch in our town which was built 50 years ago and it was completely built by the people of our town and there are no rich people in our town but rather middle class families, it is really huge with gold liturgical objects used and all the money was given by the people of my town, why? because we want to give the most valuable and beautiful things to our God. And not to say the Catholic Church is the biggest charitable organisation in the world so I don't think selling all the stuff the church owns would do any difference and most people who think the church should sell their stuff to help the poor just want the Catholic Church to dissolve and die.
No he wasn’t, he was completely wrong. The Church is like that since forever (we follow the traditions of the OT and the old Isrealis). I want to admit that many orthodox people in Russia are not so religious. Very few go to church regularly, perform rituals or read Bible.
communism has done its work
@ Саня Уля It saddens me to hear that! @@skyfall3079 the argument he used to defend the fact that he follows God, but not the church, was because of the supposed hypocrisy of it (I believe he must give most of his belongings to the poor to have such a view on dozens and dozens of mendicant orders which belong to the church). I guess it was cut in Kazan, Tatarstan (region in Russia where Islam is the main religion)
Because the russian federation is an empire, only in a modern wrapper, which consists of dozens of regions that were once occupied and almost completely assimilated, but kept their religion. All the territories of the russian federation are the lands of different peoples and even ethnic groups, where different people and cultures live, but many cultures have already been lost due to the genocide and assimilation carried out by Moscow.
@@Bambuchurikno, it's Moscow. There are a lot of people from all the different regions of Russia here + all the foreign migrant workers from Middle Asia. That's why there is such diversity in the video
@@Sleepyphoenixtell me you know nothing about history without actually saying it
From the history (science) standpoint Russia isn't a colonial empire in the common sense of this term. All the regions and republics in it were assimilated not excluded. There were no violent forced propagation of state religion on the territories (Spanish style of colonization). And despite of all the drama and efforts to rewrite history - there were no ethnic cleansing just for the sake of it and in efforts to divide people (Belgian style of colonization)
So please stop with the drama. It's true that there a lot of issues concerning how russians (as ethnicity) percieve all the various other ethnicities in Russia. Especially the young radicalized ones with neo-nazi beliefs. You should be talking about this and the ways how to make russian 'majority' perceive different ethnicities in a better way and as equals. It is a problem, but not this 'colonialism' BS. The expansion strategy of Russia (which was undoubtedly bloody, I don't disagree with that) is not similar at all with ALL the european colonial states: France, England, Spain, Portugal, etc.

I'd love to have a talk with the guy at 00:57. He and I seem to share a very similar thought on a 'higher being'.

Wow, this comments are sad.
It would be nice if our society would start to let people mind their own business. What someone believes in doesn't hurt you. I am Christian, have Muslim, Buddhist and Atheist friends. How this friendship works? With respect. I don't force my beliefs on them, they don't force theirs on me. It really is that easy, but hating or judging “the other side” is obviously easier for the most.

"O you who believe! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are the friends of each other. And whoever amongst you turns to them (takes them for a friend), then surely he is one of them. Surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people." Al-Ma'idah-51

The fade out on the last guy made me laugh out loud, I was thinking the same :D I am impressed how many were quite resolved about their beliefs. If you asked 100 american, they wouldn't know the difference between atheism and agnosticism (I'm guessing). I am also sure the religious american's takeaway from this video is that russians are atheists and that explains their callousness in the war. (Untrue of course)
The US is super religious, or at least claims to be, there's definitely more people that would know the difference between atheism and agnosticism than those that wouldn't.
I think the majority of people that wouldn't know the difference would be fundamentalist Christians, they like to keep people ignorant.
For decades, the West has created a false image of the Russian people.
If protecting our people from genocide is a crime, then we are criminals. The situation must be seen from both sides. It's stupid to listen to the accuser's point of view and ignore the accused's point of view.

Agnosticism is not really an answer. It just mean we can't know.
Religion is callousness, religion is oppression, religion is war, it is what it was made for,, hell on earth, a lying destination. A threat to justify control.
How can we claim to know an omnipresent God when we haven't even traveled outside of our solar system. Atheists seem convinced that the five human senses are capable of perceiving everything in the universe, which is a bit self-centered I think.
I love the Russian people
Thx m8
I love Russian people too. A lot of people in the West kind of fetishise Russia with this weird gopnik / squatting Slav stereotype, but if you look at Russia beyond stereotypes and politics, you will find an actually interesting nation full of contradictions and a rich cultural background. Russians obviously had to endure a lot of hardships throughout most of their modern history, and I feel like this has made them into very fascinating people to talk to. The perspective and mentality of Russians seem very different from that of most other people. I don't know why, but I have always been drawn to the way Russians tend to think.
