Emily, many years ago when I was still young and a student, a friend let me borrow her silver flute for a while, she did not play. I caught onto it very quickly because I play several other instruments. I took the flute often into the forest to play and to my amazement I saw deer being attracted to the sound and come very close. Then I tried the same with horses, playing the flute up on the ridge that separates the Bay Area in Berkeley California from the different landscape and the horse ranches of the back country. Standing by the fences on the ridge with my flute at least a dozen horses would come up from the valley below and stand very close. I felt like a pied piper for hoofed animals, such as deer and horses.
As a soprano and alto saxophonist learning the flute, I'm curious whether your point was made or not. It's been half a year now, what's your verdict? I definitely underestimated the flute, personally. Also the B key vs octave key hurts me when switching back and forth between the two. I can now never quite remember what my left thumb is supposed to be doing on either instrument! The flute sure is a lot smaller and lighter and easier to disassemble though. Can practice anywhere, even in the car or bathroom!

I struggled for quite a while until I played around with the angle. I was angling the lip plate so it was at a 90/80 degree angle and I could only get tiny sounds. But then I put the lip plate flush with my lips (basically kiss the lip plate and then pull it slightly back so your lips aren't touching it) and that makes it world's easier

Any time!
4 weeks into trying to play and I still cant make a sound. 😭 I'm going to keep trying though.
Same lmao
It took me 6 months to make a good constant sound when I was learning in year 6
Don't give up. It takes time ⌚. I'm learning and getting the right tone. Don't give up.
I play for nearly 50yrs, just got my wife one. I don't have a book for her, so I'm sending her to your site. I hope she can learn from you. I told her the most important thing is a good clean sound, all the rest will fall into place.
Of course, and plenty of practice. All the best to her and have fun playing duets!
I just purchased your course. I am very excited to get started on it. Thank you!

@@flutechannel You have helped so much! I'm even more motivated to stop smoking now. I've had it all summer, but never really learned to blow it.... Do you have any tips on how to clean flutes? 🙃
@@flutechannel th-cam.com/video/8XzPxQxxbSI/w-d-xo.html I found it. 🤗 thanks!.... but my flute was given to me and didn't come with a rag. I'll have to get one, but thank you. I will get back to practicing now. 👌
I was accidentally was sent a flute instead of a clarinet so now since I still have the flute I’m going to try and learn how to play it!!
I dont even have a flute, but i’ll start watching your lessons
Amelie thank you so much! I'm a beginner and these flute lessons really teach me. Now that i'm getting better today, I took 1 straight hour of practice watching your videos over and over. I love your channel! btw im new here!

I just started for fun, I don't have a teacher though so I will be taking advantage of your tutorials
I am so happy to have found this! I haven’t played my flute since 6th grade but I want to pick it back up so badly.. I need to learn to read sheet music properly first
Best of luck!
Merci Amélie :)
2:01 how do I make different notes?? Every time I try I only get that same deep sound
By putting more or less pressure with the air you're blowing.
Same

@@mrjilian07 I do believe it's because she's tightening her lips. I've been playing flute for 3 years, and I'm still learning about that so I'm not entirely sure
Still the world to learn, but thank you so much for your lessons. It's day 3 and I'm playing Mary Had a Little Lamb.
Have fun!
Thank you
You're welcome
