Stunning 72 GS Stage1 car! As a retired Buick Service Director , I remember these so well, and you seldom saw them even when new. I was lucky enough to have a dark green 1971. This generation of Buick A bodies drove so well. Thanks, Lou and Dennis, for sharing!

But how good does this 1972 Buick GS Stage 1 look, in black! The paint simply shone like a mirror in the sunlight! I liked the detail of the exhausts (a rare option) that pass through the striking chrome bumper. A very nice and comfortable interior, with quite nice touches, such as the three different materials on the doors (vinyl, wood and carpet) or the elegant instrument panel decorated in chrome and wood (special mention, for that cover of the radio cassette with the Buick logo). The behavior of the vehicle, as seen in the final ride, is simply superb. It is, as you mentioned, riding in a powerful car with the comfort of a luxury one! Congratulations to your owner, and best regards, Lou!
Thanks for sharing this gorgeous GS with us! Only thing I would add is that any GS, whether 350, std. 455, or Stage 1, was standard with front disk brakes in '72.
Beautiful survivor. Original cars are extra special. This is a great Buick and frankly reminds me of how Buick has lost their way. I can hardly distinguish the various cross overs that compose the Buick fleet now. Thanks for the glimpse into a different era and for letting us see this great survivor.
My parents bought a new 1972 Buick Skylark 2 door hardtop. I took my driver’s test in it that October. Seeing this car brings back a lot of pleasant memories. Our neighbor had a new 1972 GS 455 Stage 1. It was dark green and would really move.
Lou, you had me at black. Oh, how I love some black cars! I currently have a black car and just adore it and work like the dickens to keep it looking showroom new even as it has 8 calendar years of life - 2016 model built in June of 2015. As always your channel is special and you are the man when it comes to being able to relate to the owners and to show enthusiasm that us car guys can appreciate!
What an awesome surviver. I love Buicks and I worked at a dealership in Jersey in the 80s but the 72 Skylark was the best looking car and the Stage 1 GS was over the top. I had a 72 350 Skylark that "went" I could just imagine what that was like back then 💚 Thanks Lou you made my week, now I can get back to turning wrenches 👍👍
Hi Pat, Happy to read "I love Buicks and I worked at a dealership in Jersey in the 80s but the 72 Skylark was the best looking car and the Stage 1 GS was over the top" :-) Glad to read this brings back memories of your car too. Makes me happy to read "you made my week" :-) You're welcome, Lou
I have owned 2 older Buicks in my younger years and wish I still had em both. First was a 72 Skylark 350 4 barrel coupe that had optional posi 3:73 gears. It was very quick for a small block car! 2nd was a 67 GS 400 that was a torque monster and a blast to drive. Keep em comin with the Buick muscle Lou!
Absolutely love it. One of the best cars I ever owned was a 72 Skylark Custom red with black top and interior had 65K but was mint survivor; would love to have another but they cost too much these days; that was 1984 I got it for 2200; today would be 30K+ crazy prices now.
I had a 72 Fire Red Skylark Custom with console, woodgrain panels, black top and Ralleye wheels, dual exhaust and AC , 1982 til 1995.. Bought with 70k miles, I put 130 on it. Sold it for my 72 Skylark convertible!
Yeah Lou, the only downturn of the '72 is that it was the start of the lower compression on big blocks and all the other motors across the board because the non- lead gasoline push. Such a shame they had to do that to such beautiful cars back then. Buick had such style and solid performance - Thanks Lou!
Love it! Also love the ‘74 & ‘75 GS! I noticed you are in the burbs of Chicago quite a bit Mr.Lou, maybe you oughta swing by the city and do a video on my car 😊
A gem, and the owner having a Buick dealership for 45 years gets the best '72 GS 455 Stage1 out there only about a year ago, so he must have done a few dance moves when he closed this transaction. * Wonderful story on "My Car Story", thnx. . . :>/

Hi Matt AZ, Happy to read "I wish was mine" :-) I think I added a zero on that price, and I agree, a great survivor. Hope you're behind the wheel of the right one for you soon, Lou
Most people do not know this but the 1972 is just as much a beast as the 1971, in 1972, all the automakers would begin publishing net ratings that reflected engine output with all accessories in place instead of gross horsepower. The engine's actual output didn't change from 1971 to 1972.
If I could have one GM car from 1972, it would be this. These Buicks had it all. Make mine a 4-speed with air. Lou, you distract Dennis while I steal this car and go for a joyride!
