My tuner only did WOT and nothing on the street level tune. I want to take it to a new tuner and advice? I like the way your truck pulls at the end of the video. Oh I have the Harley truck
I still have to clean my intercooler, got 135k on it. The blow-by that got past my PCV was excessive due to ring wear, installed a catch-can, but have yet to rip her apart. I bet mine is being choked-off at the top lol.
@@danielmacias753 then you gotta assume its pretty reliable. Dont think there is a ton of life left so keep that in mind but if its gonna be a weekend toy I dont think you could go wrong. They are a lot of fun!!
Just picked up an '02 Lightning and was looking at getting the SCT tuner. Can the Lightning be tuned on 91 octane or does it strictly have to be 93? We don't have anything higher than 91 where I am.
That is getting up there is nothing has ever been done to the motor. Just make sure that whatever you pay you have enough room in your wallet to go through the motor if need be
I just bought mine, Everytime I get on it makes me smile from ear to ear. 😌
Congrats! Glad you're enjoying it!!
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction thanks👍
I’m currently rebuilding and overhauling my 2001. @ 267K I finally melted a piston.
Can’t wait to drive it again!!!
Yours sounds great!
Thank you!!
I own a2001 and love it, lots of fun
Sounds like that truck really needed a good tune for sure. Boosted motors ALL should have an intercooler for sure. Those Lightnings will RIP too
Ya it was night and day difference. I still cant get over the SC whine in this truck 👍
Good to hear , iam hesitant to buy one with that kind of miles .. ya know 20year plus truck .. drive ability, wear an tear ..
@peterscott2097 the lightning was up there in miles. The HD is just under 83k. They are usually good for 200 if taken care of. Really good motors
Ayeeee Turlock
Nice truck brother good job with the truck
Thank you!!
Heat def. robs power I'd guess the tune was resp. for the majority of the increase in hp/torque
Nice I just took out my intercooler its clogged very bad dirty
thankyou for sharing my friend very interesting

You may be impressed once you clean it out. Good luck!👍
did my first cleaning at 160k miles and holy shit there was a huge difference afterwards.
got mine a few months back, most fun car ive ever owned :))
Welcome to the club my friend! I really thought I would keep mine a few months and then sell it but I really am enjoying the truck
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction how do I go about getting a good tune? I don't trust anyone around here, they all treat it like a regular f150
@@danielstaley4737 that is tough. Word of mouth is always best in my opinion and a good tuner is worth the drive/wait/price! Good luck!!
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction thank you and great video! It validated my suspicion about the SC and IC.
Best way of telling if your intercooler is plugged up?
No water flowing thru or even the touch test, if you run the vehicle a while and the innercooler is still cold then it is definitely plugged
Extreme Automotive Addiction intercooler or the heat exchanger?

Kool video
I have an 01 Lightning I bought new. I still love it
Thanks for the info myn Harley f150 is acting the same way I’m a get that checked out
Happy to help
Sounds like the truck has a ported Eaton supercharger on it.
A louder supercharger doesn’t mean it’s ported most likely the silencer holes was plugged , a real ported supercharger is waaay quieter
@@Supercharged287SOHC Maybe, but I had a ported eaton on a previous lightning and it sounded just like this truck.
Hey great vid Iam in the market for buying a lightning with similar miles an all stock how is your truck holding up with thoose kind of miles ..
@peterscott2097 I sold my lightning some time back but was fine.
I am considering selling the HD which has similar mods now
I'm near Los Angeles, do you know of any credible Lightning tuners this way? A lot of shops are afraid to touch the truck because it's boosted.
Nothing that way. The shop I went to is in Oakdale. I'm sure there has to be some closer to you though
Same here brother did you end up finding anything ?
Those intercooler pumps freeze. You have to disassembled them and clean them. If you don’t know this, you’ll be surprised at what comes out
When my oem pump died I replaced it with a Davies Craig.
What do you recommend for tuning, am looking at the SCT X4 but haven’t decided yet
Wish I could help you out there but don't know much about them.
I just went thru my shop and let them do what they felt was best
Is $4500 For an 02 with 160,000 miles good?
Yes if it is pretty clean and seems to run ok I would take a chance on it for that price
Extreme Automotive Addiction thanks for the response. It’ll need paint correction and new rims
Extreme Automotive Addiction guy daily’s it for work

Those are savage miles. The L is not a diesel. It has a shorter lifespan. Lighting rules forever. Get your hands on it make it work. You will love it.
ford rates um at 390 I think for a 2v pretty nice
Who tuned it I am looking for my 03 Harley and the locals don't have a good rep

I am in California and all I have access to is 91 and mine does great! You can definitely tune it for 91 👍
So were talking about the intercooler and not the heat exchanger right?
Yes sir!
Damn that supercharger!
I love it!!
These trucks didnt come with a manual
How many miles?
155 on truck 30 on motor
You had problems at 115 mph? That makes me cry. The truck should easily do 135mph stock
Thats the difference a good tune and working inner cooler will make. I have had it to 140 and it was still pulling
Should I get one that has 200k miñes
That is getting up there is nothing has ever been done to the motor. Just make sure that whatever you pay you have enough room in your wallet to go through the motor if need be
if it's all stock and taken care of you'll be fine. Mine had 401,000 when I sold it. Bone stock.
