Yup. Saw it yesterday. A Godzilla fan I know said several themes in _GKotM_ were carry-overs from their original versions, so here I am. Not a Godzilla 'fan', but have seen a handful of them over time. I really enjoy the Legendary Goji movies 'cause they eliminate a lot of the in-your-face cheese of the classic Toho movies that I have trouble getting over.
Don't believe the critics. If you like Godzilla or kaiju films, it's a Hell of a ride that stands up with Final Wars for its action and cinematography!

I love Mothra! The fact that she's purely a spiritual being tends to contrast the creation of many of the other monsters very well, I think! Besides, EVERY monster in the Godzilla universe has died at LEAST once, with very few exceptions. Bash Mothra though they might, if staying alive throughout the franchise were the criteria for a great monster, then "Minila Vs. Jet Jaguar" would be the movie fans were desperately waiting for, as they're the only two I can think of off the top of my head who have never been killed in one way or another. And the day they make THAT movie is the day you'll find me on a high ledge singing "I Believe I Can Fly", let me tell ya! Eh, to sum up my longwinded response, I agree with you!

@@aceyspud551 I mean mothra was a classic monster movie in the west and the east, also if I were to be honest with you, I think they would've approach the twins like the tribe from skull island, in skull island the tribesmen treat king Kong like a god, so I feel like it should be the same here, or have the twins be little girls if they want to be realistic, but I don't think western people won't be weirded out over this, our monster was a 50 foot ape that had a love interest in a girl and fought a t Rex on an island, so I don't think legendary are not afraid to show this type of approach on mothra, I think they'll be a beautiful touch and creative approach in the monster verse in my opinion
They don’t even need them as pixies proper. The latest batch of Godzilla movies out of Japan just had cuts to random twins when She would hatch from Her cocoon or show up in the film for the first time, wherever appropriate, as an homage. Barely but a few frames in the films, but a nod to the original pair in the older continuities. Subtle and nice. And I can do without the twins, so long as they don’t Americanize Her and make Her just another dumb monster.
I'm gonna be 100% honest, if you're to ask me what my favorite kaiju is other than godzilla, my answer would automatically be Mothra and I'm a freaking dude. I just love her, she is so colorful and adorable and her song is incredibly nice to listen to.

One of the few of Godzilla's Foes to not be killed in every appearance to appear in a movie. The Showa wasn't killed ( I recall DAM but I don't know about the debut film ), Heisei wasn't killed, Millenium is a different story. They don’t even need them as pixies proper. The latest batch of Godzilla movies out of Japan just had cuts to random twins when She would hatch from Her cocoon or show up in the film for the first time, wherever appropriate, as an homage. Barely but a few frames in the films, but a nod to the original pair in the older continuities. Subtle and nice.
And I can do without the twins, so long as they don’t Americanize Her and make Her just another dumb monster.

One of the few of Godzilla's Foes to not be killed in every appearance to appear in a movie. The Showa wasn't killed ( I recall DAM but I don't know about the debut film ), Heisei wasn't killed, Millenium is a different story.
Mothra is also one of the few Godzilla kaiju to be enemy to ally in a lot of Mothra's apperences in Godzilla, one of the most well known are Ghidorah, The Three headed monster, Godzilla: King of the Monsters etc.
