Never been to India but we have pretty big community here in Texas. They are very close knit community. Lucky enough to celebrate a holy day last year and was so fun. 🙏 Namaste.

Hi, glad u are enjoying this. I am a Indian American from Kerala, so enjoyed the video very much. The couple u talked about were likely financial sponsors for this evenings show . If there are multiple sponsors, you would have seen multiple parties getting special blessings,
The 41 day buildup to the pilgrimage to sabarimalai is fun. It’s only for men, and requires 41 days of eating a vegetarian diet, not drinking, no shaving etc.. it culminates with Sankranti, which was just 2 days ago on January 14

Kerala is truly gods country. Highest literacy levels in India, equality for women, far less wealth inequality.

Equality of women tell me the logic,After 7 pm women in kerala can't go out alone.
No job , no opportunities, no industries, lack of higher education institutions, not even have a good agricultural sector living on foreign remittance, liquor and temple revenues and economy is a mess surviving only because its part of india.

@@nps7742 the economy of kerala is much better that state like up and bihar these states are relays on other states money , kerala had 2% of india population contributing 4% of india gdp...
Bihar 8% , up had 16% of india's population and just check how much they contribute in indian economy
And number of industry in kerala is 7000 and tamilnadu had highest in india 37000, still the big states like bihar had only 3000 industry, mp, uttarakhand, assam chathisghat , odisssa, jharkhad had only lessthan 4000 industry, and up had 11000 industry only....
And kerala geography not suits grains, but kerala alone producing 90% of india's rubber, cardamom, javitri...
And one of largest producer of coconut, arecanut, cashew, clove, cinnamon...
      Basically spices and cash crop's...
In maratward alone , maharashtra 1000+ farmers suicided, its not in the case of kerala...
And out of 130 billion of kerala gdp only 12 billion is remittances
And temple revenue never gone to government treasury's its going under devasam board and the devasam board using this money to proper function of small temples....
      And salary of priests etc...
And after 7.00 kerala is much safe than any other states of india for women's as by safety index✌️
And kerala is much better in women work force participation rate than any north indian state..
Kerala had enough higher education, the standard of higher education especially for medical and affiliated course kerala is best in india...
And unemployment rate of haryana is 34% rajasthan had 26% and kerala had 6%....
Before talking just do some research ✌️

kantara movie refers to theyyam, theyyam is practiced in North malabar (kannur, kasaragod).

At 2:00 the hotel staff is trying to explain about Ayyappa Deeksha which is usually done during winter seasons for 11 or 21 or 41 days by people from southern part of India. It is believed to be the most purest form of praying to Lord Ayyappa. There are certain strict rules one must follow During this time like eating only satvik food ( no non-veg, onions and garlic), should not wear footwear at all, sleep on floor, no consuming of alcohol or smoking, wake up at 4:00 AM daily and perform prayer to god and so much more. It the most purest form of living and controlling mind in all aspects. on doing this it is believed that all the good wishes will come true. At the end of Deeksha the devotees visit Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple which is in Kerala !!

I think the couple were the local sponsors for the everyday rituals that have to be performed (& if there were any meals probably).
I’m not from Kerala so I’m unaware of what are the ritualistic processes in that local temple.
However, we’ve similar situations in other parts of the country wherein a couple/individual/family gives back to their community by way of sponsoring or directly taking part in the rituals during auspicious festival days. They also, often sponsor meals that would be shared with patrons and other devotees during this auspicious period.
It could also be that the sponsors are celebrating success or some family moments (birth of baby) or other life milestones with the community & the God.
And ofc get blessings in return and wish for general well being for upcoming times.
It’s quite unique that you get to visit (hyper) local culture at display since with modern age, these practices are increasingly eroding off (in urban areas).
& thank you for sharing the video & letting us take this journey along with you!
Best regards to your family & hope you have amazing rest of your trip!

The guy wearing green mask represents BHOOTNAH means GHOST SPIRIT. SIRF (only) DEVI (Female Goddess) and HAR HAR MAHADEVA also named SHIVAYA RULERS of BHOOTNAH - GANAS - GHOULS means GHOSTS SPIRITS. I never celebrate this because I don't like spirits nor ghosts. I ONLY WORSHIP DEVAS AND DEVIS (Gods and Goddesses)
