This is how South India is! No matter who you are, where you are from, you will always be treated with respect, warmth, and hospitality. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of North India. I remember when I was teaching in the North, some of my international African students used to literally come and weep because of the extremely disgusting racist and disrespectful behaviour of the local North Indians. I have seen this also happen with North Eastern Indians, who are treated with the same warmth, respect and dignity in South India, but are treated badly in North India in places like Delhi. South India and North India have now truly become like two different countries.
Kudos to those wonderful young people in Kochi for extending their warmth and hospitality, and also showing the best values and traditions of South India. I hope Marwa enjoys his stay in India.

This area is so much nicer than Mumbai which was so noisy and crowded. I am impressed that these students know about their home --touring the US you can't get directions from one part of town to another from the dwellers. Your title reminded me of a time when I was in college waiting for the bus to my dorm on a cold day. A car with a group of African men stopped and asked if they could give me a ride. I took a chance, that I probably would not today, but I met the nicest, most interesting students who became friends throughout my time in college. Whenever I traveled in those days, before video cameras, I would hitch rides, sometimes alone, and always met interesting people.

On Mumbai vs. Kochi - you're spot on. Many foreigners visit India and just stick to Mumbai and Delhi: both are overcrowded, noisy, busy cities. Some of the second tier cities in India are a lot quieter, cleaner and definitely more fun, especially in the Southern parts of the country.

But in southern state their mother tonge and first language are same like Tamil malyalama Telugu Kannada konkandi etc and second language English
@@lusaka677 As you said you learn in hindi speak in bhojpuri and learn English as a third language, you are not learning anything fully that is why you're linguistic skills in every language is worse. In UP many 10th students have failed in hindi exams, many are writing hindi in Latin words (English alphabet) in urban areas because they don't know the grammar of the language. And bhojpuri is not considered as a individual language by Indian government, it is considered as a dialect of hindi.
in kerala,we have both malayalam and english as 1st language and hindi is also mandatory till 10th.and most students study in english medium schools.
for 11th and 12th,english mandatory with either hindi or malayalam or rarely french as 2nd language.and no malayalam medium for higher secondary education

Thought I was a Geography guru until today...first time hearing the term " Backwater or Kayals"...so by definition it's a part of the river where the water is stagnant due to no current or tides aka the shallow inlet of the sea in rivers lying parallel to the coastline.

Tamilians hate Hindi-speaking people. They are not welcoming as well. They have some built-in hate towards other fellow Indians because of their politicians. If I compare it with Gujarat, there are more than 25 lacks Malayali people living in Gujarat. No one EVER Mentioned it anywhere. They are part of our community now. But Tamillains can not accept north Indians as their own people. That is a difference. Also, Gujarat is not NORTH India, it is western India if you don't know. We have nothing to do with North India. Gujaratis are very different than other North Indians if you compare. And Malayali and Tamilians are not the SAME people. And never will be! They have their own culture! And you mentioned that some Gujaratis scam Indian banks and all. Well, look, there are all kinds of people in every community. It was a time when there were 6 Gujaratis in the top 10 richest Indian men in India. Gujaratis give the highest tax than any other community.

Delhi, Jand K Gujarat. Some times we’ve been scammed and some good experiences and some bad. This is the same when you travel all over the world. When you go to anyplace we have to accept the place as it is. Your comment seems like you are filled with hatred for Tamils. And you are blaming the other person. By statistics there are millions of Gujjus in Chennai alone, who are proud Chennaiiites. When you blame or generalise and pass a sweeping statement on a community what do you expect there will be someone defending it na.
