***** Sonic songs are the only songs that sound nice in this soundfont, at least it's what I think. Right now, I can't remember any songs that sound particularly good in the Genesis.
That’s because it has to do with the looping. For some reason, in the games code, the right audio track volume, which has the triangle sound, doesn’t lower until later after the song loops this time, due to what I believe is a loop overflow. The right audio track ends up louder when this loop happens, and then soon gets corrected and returns to normal. It’s merely a volume glitch.
Tails The Fox Well... Hello, Tails! I hope you don't have your sudden mood swings this time? We always had a good relationships (and don't mention about firing at each other. We're just having an argue!) Tristan Sinner Did Knuckles asked you to tell me that? You can tell him what I didn't steal his emerawods. He can ask Batface the Rogue... I mean... He can ask Rouge the Bat if she took his emeralds. Because I myself wasn't after Chaos Emeralds for three games in a row already (I was after them in comics and in this weird blocky dimension, but that doesn't counts).
Oh thats nothing, I can top that! Go to sound test in either Sonic 3, Sonic 3 & Knuckles or Sonic & Knuckles, play a tune for example 18 or 2E then fade it out by going to E1, while it's fading keep pressing button C and after about 8 or 9 seconds the music returns much louder with some or all of the FM sound channels (except DAC).
Well, the point in which a purposely caused glitch using the sound test is better than an oversight that takes ages to manifest is debatable, but that's pretty neat! It has different effects on different songs; on the save screen theme, it only plays the bells! On some songs, it plays all instruments loud, on others, only a few channels even play. Also you meant "keep pressing button C", B doesn't do anything.
This game just won’t stop surprising me, even with the most simple things. I love it. I just discovered yesterday that if you get a time over in competition mode, you lose a life which can effectively lose you an entire 10 round match on the first round if it’s your last life.
IIRC there's a song in Sword of Vermillion which gradually goes up in pitch and will be really, really high pitched almost to the point of being unrecognizable after you let it play for around two hours or so.
This is clearly a glitch. The "new instrument" isn't a new instrument - it's already in the song. It's just much quieter until it suddenly gets way too loud. The only evidence you need? It isn't in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. See, you guys are acting like Sonic 3 was later combined with Sonic & Knuckles. That is completely backwards. Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles are one game, split into two cartridges because it was too big to fit on one. I do not know of any other Genesis game that has this distinction... which means being split into two cartridges was therefore an experimental technology. And that is why there are many many many glitches that only occur in Sonic 3 OR Sonic & Knuckles and not in both of them together. This is just one of the more minor ones.
I don't know much about assembly or the Sonic 3 source, so this is all educated guess work - First of all, the fact that the music changes at all suggests that something is being iterated on each repetition, i.e. a loop counter. Perhaps you can't set up a loop without a counter in assembly. It's been mentioned that the change occurs on the 128th loop of the song. 127 must be the upper limit of the counter. But this doesn't exit the loop, it starts corrupting bits of memory (in this case the patch data of a sound channel). One way to test this would be to loop the music another 128 times and see if anything else breaks. It should also in theory do this on any song in the game, the time will be different, but it will always be 128 repetitions (Death Egg would be ideal to test, as it's more repetitive and faster than the save menu music, so won't take as long).
there is a way to isolate the sound from certain tracks in the game. Go to sound test and play this song (forgot the value for it) then play the fade out sound (E1) and keep pressing the button. after about 15 seconds it starts playing some of the background sounds. Sandopolis is a good one to notice. (gets VERY loud...)

worker 1: Hey i have an idea for the game.
worker 2: What is it?
worker 1: Lets make the music change in the save screen after you have been on it for 47 minutes.
worker 2: Sir... you just been instantly promoted to ceo.
new ceo: Fuck yeah.
Why does this glitch happen? Very strange. It's a good thing that it's fixed in Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
***** Unsure why Sega put it there though.
Mega Raichu It's not an Easter Egg is a glitch as it is explained in the description of this very video. If you want to make an Easter Egg that requires you to wait 47 minutes you don't just turn up the volume of one channel.
Who the hell listens to the same damn song for 40+ minutes anyways?

honestly if its a glitch, why isnt it consistant through the whole song after we hear it in that bit
