    Thanks. As an ex-health and safety officer, I can appreciate the importance of these exercises. If I can make some improvements - to the eagle I would add complete inhalation so that you can feel the rib cage expanding just as the hands reach the apex and complete exhalation with the hands touching the floor.
    In the army I can remember being told that marching with your knuckles forward was Neanderthal.
    Then I would suggest these exercises just before meditation.

    Wow!! I just talked to my doctor last week about an issue I am having while sitting in the evening watching TV. I will often feel some tightness in my neck which sometimes leads to a headache. He believes it is exactly as you said I am moving my neck forward which is causing a pinched nerve in my neck. He recommended I do some exercises to improve my posture while sitting. Are there any specific exercises you would recommend?

    My mom is 82, and she slouches when she walks. Is it safe to do these exercises for a person her age? She spent too much time seating down watching tv during the pandemic. She has early dementia, and I am trying to find ways to motivate her to exercise and walk. She used to be very active.

    This is excellent advice. I have a slipped disc (somewhere), and I do my 'lazy man's yoga' before I get out of bed while I meditate. When I begin to slip and I don't do them, I feel it. These exercises are priceless. It helps to relieve the pinched nerve. I hope lots of people follow your advice.

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stretching is great to keep things under control. A "slipped disc" however is an unstable spinal segment. It is unstable because the muscles are not managing it with precision and, the muscles are acting on order from the brain. The brain needs feedback and nutrition. If you can provide more of both for the brain the spinal segment will stabilize and stop slipping. Stretching is a way to provide more feedback and chiropractic can add further and more specific feedback.

      I understand. Eventually, when I can afford the costs, I'll probably go to a chiropractor. My late father used to go to one. I also need a new office chair and mattress. These things would all help.
      I've managed to avoid serious complications by exercising, stretching, and trying to build core muscles. Unfortunately, I'm not a physically active person by nature. I only exercise because I want to live to see 100+ 😄
