Space Invaders. This happened to me very recent on a walk on the Mendips. I sat far away from two friends I've bumped in to... Then a group of five "tourists" sit next to me; talking about how the should bring deck chairs with them the next time!! I lost that battle, finished my lunch early and walked on. Deck Heads! There's another name for them. I was hoping we'd get to meet your brother at the end - or that you might at least play out the role of both characters.
I think some people actually like sitting close to total strangers. I find it mystifying. On the beach people were all crowded together round the corner the beach was empty.
(Member 89) 3:46 Genuinely, that happens to me all the time. Maybe it's because I'm blue grey pale and they look right through me, who knows. I call them the "Hamiri" (Having A Moment? I'll Ruin It).
I went for a walk round a local reservoir on Sunday and was fascinated by a bird which turned out to be a redshank when I got home and found it in my bird book, it was getting really territorial and shouting at and dive bombing the ducks and geese that were sleeping on the shore, I think it might be one of my new favourites. Thanks Marek 👍
@@cdwc I commented to my girlfriend that it felt really nice to look for something in a book for a change rather than just relying on the internet. Luckily no feral parakeets up here in Derbyshire yet 🤞
I did a solo gig in West Wittering Royal British Legion once. They'd booked me by mistake thinking I was a 5 piece country band, but after some discussion I performed anyway and the whole place was line-dancing to Oasis and Green Day songs.

Finally, a walk at a location I know very well. And I am one of those people that sat on the grass! Why? The kids didn't like sand in their lunch, so we would spend the morning on the beach, lunch by the car, then they prefered to play on the grass all afternoon...
Mr. Schnitzer! Sadly there were two versions of Mr. Schnitzer. A stunt version which got kicked about and a good version. After the first series I asked the producer if I could keep one of them and he said they had to go into storage for the next series. There was no second series so I never saw Mr. Schnitzer again. Schnitzer fact - he was designed from a drawing I did. The art department did an excellent job.
Marek, if you could go hike / walk anywhere in the world, where would you want to go? I went to the Faroe Islands a couple of years ago and it is a walker's paradise. Gorgeous scenery, almost no people at all, and never hot.
I would like to go to Canada. Also the Scottish Highlands and New Zealand are on my list. I have never thought of the Faroe Islands. I'm going to look it up now. How about you?
@@cdwc I'm biased but Canada is definitely a great place to visit! And there's so many options depending on the kind of scenery you want to see!! Me, I'd love to go to the Falklands (I like remote islands I guess!), Southern Chile, the Scottish Highlands as well, and Norway. I was supposed to go to Norway (and England) in May... definitely will go once this is all over, and not just because my plane ticket is non-refundable.
@@cdwc The Northern Lights would be an excellent bonus, but it's really for the cool climate and stunning scenery that I really want to go. What part(s) of Canada are you interested in?
Another walk so soon! Brilliant! I feel your pain Marek, for today's competition I would like to submit "Proximity Pests" as a name for these intolerable individuals. Cheers Cool Dude! #116
Putting West Wittering on my list of walks to do , looks interesting walk. It's hard walking in such hot weather though . What water bottle do you use or do you a camel pack ? I struggled with 3 full water bottles last week a literally carried nothing else .
I just use cheap water bottles I picked up. My pack was really heavy with two one litre bottles plus a can of coke for emergency caffeine. In the hiking videos I watch all the cool hip people use Smartwater bottles. Hope you enjoyed your adventure. The pictures look great.
Name for people who sit too close: bubble poppers. They burst both literal private space bubbles and metaphorical mind peace bubbles. Member number 110 i think but my card is downstairs and that is too far away!
People who sit too close are like face huggers from Aliens so I would like to name them Riplies. Cos saying face huggers while they are in close ear shot will get you caught calling them face huggers.

this was excellent - I did the walk today - loved it - thanks for posting! Jo

Did your name suggest you were more than one person?
Nope. But I randomly had a cowboy hat in the car so that softened the blow slightly.
I’m more than happy to listen to Marek’s Witterings! As a local Caulkhead I wonder if there’ll be another Isle of Wight walk this year?!
Almost definitely.
Cool Dudes Walking Club Nice one! Enjoy
Interesting location, not seen this before..!!
I built the beach with my own hands.
Went to one of the Witterings once... and was underwhelmed. This was a very interesting and watchable video though!
However, it looks quite nice when you film it, so maybe I'm being a bit harsh.
I think it is quite crowded in the summer.

Now you put it like that I feel a bit unreasonable. No one likes sand in their ham sandwiches.
