This guy doesn’t realize how funny he is
Correction: This guy realizes exactly how funny he is
He most likely does, he's aware he's making jokes and is deliberately dabbling in deadpan humor as well.
His western friends probably laugh at him often in a friendly way, and he comes to expect it when he talks
He embraces it with a great level of confidence
I think he’s fully aware how funny he is. Dude rules.
Funny how?
It’s hilarious because despite his limited vocabulary, he’s so confident and speaks like he’s fluent.
I mean they probably encouraged him to because it'll help him learn English way more quickly
It's the only way to learn. Kids learning to speak don't shut up in shame when they can't talk, or pronounce words correctly.
Yeah it's so much more important to just get your message across than worry too much about grammar. Actually speaking regularly is the only way to become close to fluent.
It’s true that speaking despite not 100% fluent helps. I came to US when I was 13 knowing English but not good at speaking. But I just speak anyway and now 6 years later I’m an interpreter and most people don’t even know from my accent I’m from Thailand
That's confidence bruh
As a German I always thought that english is one of the easiest languages to learn. After a while I realized that it really depends on where you are from, where your parents are from, what your interests are..... What a lovely interview :)
German and English are distant relatives, at least in their structure. Learning a lanuage that doesn't follow any of the grammatical or phonetic rules your're familiar with is so much harder.
English is a Germanic language, so it's relatively easy for a native German speaker to learn English, and vice versa. Japanese and English on the other hand are two of the most different languages from each other, so relatively it's extremely difficult for a native speaker of Japanese to learn English, and vice versa. It's easier for a native Japanese speaker to learn Chinese because of the borrowed writing system and many loanwords, or Korean because of the similar grammatical features.
English and German are very similar
english is german mixed with french
Dude it's probably the hardest to learn from scratch.
This warms my heart, much love for people learning languages that aren’t their own. I wish I had that confidence
