You have no ideas how Japanese is bad at English... I am in a top 2 graduate school in US and my Japanese foreign phd student spoke just a little bit better than him. and he starts to learn English at 30....with no advance education before...
He talks like if an american celebrity went to Japan and knew very basic Japanese but acted and spoke like it was normal.

I used to think this then one day a friend of mine collapsed while we were visiting Montreal. Now I'm sure I could've spoken English but I mustered up all the knowledge I had to try and ask how to get some help in French. The Quebecois were more than willing to wait and listen.
Dude, just speak. Noones cares how many mistsakes you make or how your accent is weird, just speak to improve yourself and not give a crap about other people (this is is a healthy way, not being selfish). You'll improve!

Kawasaki is still a legend on TV in japan.. he brags that he skipped practice to come join talk shows that he gets invited to. Then he shares inside scoops of Japanese players... Like darvish yu came to japan for wbc to coach on the differences in the ball or laars nootbaar was key to winning cause he taught the team to party hard but play hard.
This man is an international treasure.

I have a ton of respect for this guy for having the confidence to do all the interviews and stuff in English. People who haven't had to communicate in a different language probably underestimate how nerve racking that must be. My wife is Norwegian, and I've learned a decent amount of Norwegian, but whenever we're with her family and everyone is speaking Norwegian, I get super nervous and usually just end up resorting to English because I get self conscious about my Norwegian. I can't imagine how nerve racking it must be but he doesn't even seem phased
I'm the exact same way with Norwegian and Bokmal is one of the easier languages to learn if you know English. Munenori's situation is so much more difficult!

Kawasaki reminds me so much of this Sicilian fella I worked with on a fam. Guy was hilarious and it was a right laugh trying to communicate with each other sometimes lmao. It's kinda fun trying to piece together bits of languages
