A few months before my Dad passed away, he fell in his apartment. Fortunately my sister & her husband were visiting him for a few days and got him up right away. At that point my sisters & I realized it was time to get my Dad one of those fall alert necklaces. My Dad fell 2 more times after this. The fall alert system dispatched the paramedics both times. There was a lockbox outside of my Dad's front door, and that is how the paramedics got in. After the second fall in less than 2 months we started researching getting someone to stay with my Dad overnight. My Dad's health declined so rapidly, there was no time to get him an overnight helper. But the fall detection necklace did work in summoning the paramedics. I've fallen & I can't get up may be humorous to some people, but not when it's your loved one or you in that predicament.
You are right, they are great for unstable elderly folks.
Regarding the memory study, Linda, you had some sort of small stroke soon after you guys moved to Villages. That can be the start no matter how small the stroke damage can occur.
Hello! I especially appreciate the safety right-of-way segment. As a lifelong cyclist; it is my opinion that you never get in a contest with 4 wheels when you are on 2 wheels. 2 wheels will ALWAYS lose. Doesn't matter who is right. 😉
walking my dog one night- near the local over 55 community- a seriously large man was on the ground- said that he fell while taking out the garbage and could not get up. He asked me to go ring the doorbell and get his wife to come out to help him. I do not like ringing doorbells late at night- but I did as he asked and she was already in a night gown... I am glad she actually answered he door because >SCAMS< she might have just freaked out. She was somewhat large herself and they both declined any further help, so I guess they both managed to get inside.
I had a similar experience one time. Nice of you to help.

I've been watching you at least three years but closer to four, I think. Can't move there but enjoy seeing life in the villages so much.
I called my a/c company to schedule a yearly maintenance call and the cost went up 40.00. When I questioned the increase the lady told me it’s inflation. So I contacted the a/c company you recommend and they are charging what I used to pay. Thanks Jerry and Linda

Hi Jerry and Linda, We moved from the UK to Ontario Canada in Jan 2020 and through another you tuber's comments about living in Villages I started researching and found you so guess in March of 2021 and you two (I know I have said before) really helped me to get through those Covid times so I did go back and got caught up on all earlier videos. Danny and I really appreciate all the info you provide, the fab vibes you send out, the honesty and would not think you could ever have any salty comments only sweet ❤❤

Those Condos are really nice, but a bit close to the Square for me. Another great show today. I laughed at the bit about the fall, it was funny but actually quite real. My parents have had a few falls that they have had to handle. The have a non-emergency fall hotline in their community that you can call and a few EMT's will come out and help. I know it sounds like a no brainer, but if any of your viewers fall, and you are the spouse please do not try to pick them up or move them. Call 911 and let them help. And if you are single, please get in the habit of having your charged cell phone with you especially if you go outside to do yard work. Always call 911 if you don't feel well or have any medical concerns. You would be surprised how many people try to pick someone up, because their spouse did not want them calling 911. Don't listen to them. Call 911.

Dang, Linda, you are strong!!! That skit was funny but seriously, if any1 has a medic-alert system in their home, check monthly! I was just home visiting my mom and hers was in a lunch bag being stored on the dining room table. It wasn't working. And they are sending a new 1 as a bracelet.

Jerry, my hubby is 6’3’, weighed 255 lbs , 68 and a golfer. Having a lot on his plate while enjoying wonderful food choices landed him with a serious medical issue. Two strokes within 3 weeks of the other at the end of 2023. Please address your food choices more wisely. I’d hate to see Linda go through what I did and handling with my love of life. I remember you mentioned Linda had a medical crisis as well. Time for some extremely clean eating choices. ❤️ to you both. *his 210 now and eating healthier and exercising more on this side of the grave.
I can relate. Husband had 3rd stroke in 2018. Had to use walker from then on and could do other normal things but fun things like beach, walking in the parks, etc were gone. He also had dementia. He had fallen several times and I couldn't get him up. Luckily my young strong neighbor came over and picked him up. Sometimes I had to call rescue to lift him. In 2020 during covid he fell broke his hip and never recovered. Couldn't visit because of covid lock downs. It was terrible. He died in 2021.
This isn't a pity party but your video about falling was humorous but a fall and broken hip, especially if the person has dementia, usually doesn't end well.
I have watched your channel for several years and love it.
My girlfriend and I have been here since the beginning. She watches every week religiously. Moving down there in 2035.

Here's the dish on the condos. The ones in Spanish Springs are on a street called Avienda De Las Casas and Mira Mar if viewers want to look for them in the MLS. There actually is another set with more traditional architecture vs the Spanish style. These are on the golf course at Glenview cc. The street names are Willow Brook lane and Wresh Way. I had been watching one in each village. They both sold but not as fast as you might think.
Probably need more renos than people want to handle
Omg! Married to a first responder for 26 years. Never move anyone who falls. Call 911. Never move to their back. I know it was silliness and making a point but so many people watch you and might just remember this in their panic. Love the show and when Linda flipped over you I laughed out loud.
First youtube video I saw of yours ....well, you were just two months in The Villages. I was thrilled and have watched every one since. We purchased sight unseen in 2021. Your weekly info. helped soooo much , we didn't feel the need for a lifestyle visit. LOVE IT in The Villages.

I can relate to the fallen & can’t get up vignette you & Jerry did. About a year ago, Jim & I attended a Villages Health class for Balancing taught by Korey Godwin which was so spot on. She taught us so many things in that class that is critical for all of us as we age, exercises that we still do from it. You should have her on to talk about it. The class was for 6 weeks and it was free!!!

I watched videos on retirement communities in Arizona and one day, your very first video popped up right after you posted it. I myself had just recently retired. I had never heard of The Villages. I haven’t missed your show since. The Villages is a dream of mine, but Arizona is a possibility. I love the mountains and the smaller communities. Who knows. I keep dreaming. Thanks to you both. I’ve only seen a couple of condos for sale in TV. GORGEOUS.

Linda, thank you for sharing your authentic reaction to the research testing procedure. I had a heartfelt response to seeing this. I’m sure it was difficult and many of us would feel the same reaction. You might just have a bit more test anxiety than you realized, but at our age, we might react with more anxiety when it’s a test of this nature. Sending hugs.

I actually was in Orlando, FL, this past week Jerry and Linda, We had breakfast at this Maple????? something out of Tennessee the guy told us! The lines were out the door, the selections were around 18. We went back there two days in a row! But just saying my breakfast was $13.50, plus $3.25 or $3.50 for my great coffee! Well they told us they are paid more for service that is why we cannot tip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First time ever!

Thank you for your response to the person about the MAGA hat. I hate that people judge someone because of there political beliefs. I was married to someone with the opposite political beliefs. We eventually divorced but we never even discussed politics because that used to be how things were.

What a nice show. The skit was hilarious. I actually have a hard time getting up if I fall or are on the floor. Karla has to usually give me a lot of help. I injured my knee pretty bad a couple years ago and have a very limited range of motion and about half the strength I used to in the leg. I also can't kneel on that let so I have to crawl to something I can use to help me get up. It happened last week at work while I was filling up the truck with fuel. I had to crawl on the wet pavement in the rain to get to the open door to get back up. It can get a little scary sometimes. Great demonstration Peter on how to take care of the sprinklers.

We have been with you about four years, our first viewing was the cost to live here. That gave us a good starting point to do our own study on the cost to live in TV. LINDA! Lift with your legs not your back! We travel Morris and I always look back at intersections to see if a car has a turn signal on so I can yeld to them. You two can be goofy during the blooper.
