Michael did you know crosstreks in Canada now have always on auto headlights on all trims? You cannot turn it off to avoid people who absentmindedly leave their lights off. They are all automatic now.

When you’re in the car and you adjust the audio up and down, it takes up the entire screen and you can’t see through it. Is there a transparency setting on that at all?? I have a 21 limited on the way!
Yes, I agree. I HATE the blank screen with the circle when changing the volume.. I don't need a visual, I can hear the difference. Hate is a strong word, I HATE, HATE, HATE it.. especially at night!
Hi! I’m considering getting a used. I cannot find ANYWHERE the length/dimensions of the little cubby hole under the ac/infotainment system. I have the iPhone 14 max. It’s rough 6 by 3 inches. Any idea if it could fit? Or what the depth / width of that cubby hole is?
Interesting. I got the 2022 Crosstrek this past May. It looks like they got rid of the Map button and replaced it with a Phone button.
You didn't get the package with Navigation.
Very thorough review. Does the Homelink provide a garage door opener?
There is the option of an auto-dim rear view mirror with homelink. It can be added at any time. The car is already wired for it.
We bought one today and thank you for your video very helpful, but how can I get the high beam light to stay on?
If you have it sent to "auto" the high beam light will only be on when it is dark enough to warrant the headlights to be on. If you put it to the on all the time position the high beam assist won't be active, so the high beam will stay on until you switch to low beam.
Excellent video! Thank you. I'm a happy, but a bit confused, owner of a new Crosstrek Limited. I know that this was a tour of the technology, but I have a related use question or three. It is generally suggested that when going up a snowy slope, traction control should be shut off. Isn't the X-Mode a form of traction control? What is the difference? When do you use one over the other? How does traction control, X-Mode and the all wheel drive compliment or not compliment each other? Perhaps this is a suggestion for another video :). X-Mode is not traction control. It uses selective wheel brakes to control where the power goes. So if a wheel starts spinning, the system applies the brakes to that wheel so the power goes to the wheel with traction. Traction control allows wheels to lose traction to prevent sliding.
Traction control is for everyday driving, xmode is for serious conditions or off-roading
Hey mate is there an option where your able to turn off the infotainment system whilst driving??? Can you turn it off
Press and hold the volume button for 3 seconds.

Yes, it will. But you also sacrifice the Harmon Kardon sound system.
Mike, does the Limited trim come with a front facing camera? I've seen some reviews that reference this.
No front view camera available on the Crosstrek.
not in the United States but Canada does have it..no clue why we don't get it.
Joe Amith, it looks like the front facing camera only comes in the Sport trim(Outdoor in Canada) only...

What is that material between the front dash and steering wheel??? A friend had a 2019 crosstrek and that isn’t there. Looks very distracting

I have read parts of the manual several times and for me it was very hard to understand. I learn easier by show and tell.
I am short. Can I adjust the height of the the rear tailgate. I find myself getting on my toes to reach it.
Does the car have automatic car start.
Sun visors are too thick to hold the garage door opener. The metal clasp keeps sliding off so needed to use velcro and also eyeglass clip for glasses as there is no roof compartment for glasses.
You can not adjust the height of the rear gate. Automatic start is available via app of phone on push button start models or fob style with all models with automatic transmission.
I suggest having autodim mirror with homelink added and you don't need to carry a garage door opener with you any more.
I clip mine on the door pocket.

How can I know how many miles the car made since I bought it?
The odometer shows the total miles on the car. That is always visible.
Is the adaptive cruise in the cross trek limited full range? Holding at stops and resuming with traffic?
You have to press the resume button to re-accelerate to your set speed after coming to a stop.
@@howtosubaru It will stop and restart by itself if you don't sit too long. Not sure how many seconds before it turns off. I typically dont do that.
The thing I am having issues with is the automatic high beams

Could you elaborate on the keyless entry options?
Keyless entry is available on all limited trim levels, the sport and the premium with moonroof package.
While you still need a key with you, you don't need to press buttons on it to lock and unlock the doors.
To lock the doors, when you exit the vehicle and close the door, rest a finger in the two lines on the door handle. There will be one short beep. The car is locked. If there is a long beep, you have left a key in the car, so it won't allow you to lock it. Same thing if you pressed the lock button on the inside of the door panel. If you close the door and there's a key in the car, it will give a long beep and the car unlocks.
Unlocking the car is just a matter of putting you hand into the door cup (behind the handle) as if you were opening the door. This will unlock it.

On SI drive do you use the top or bottom one. My two features are a green light or a blue light and I don't know which to use for max fuel efficiency
The SI drive is only two options, S or I. There is no top or bottom, nor should there be a green or blue light that has anything to do with SI Drive.
Please, elaborate for me.
@@howtosubaru he means, the blue line and the green line you see on the screen behind the wheel after pressing S or I
@XR mighty "I" is fuel efficiency and "S" isn't.
To simplify, S is sport mode, goes faster using fuel faster. I is intelligent mode. That's best gas mileage.
My info button on my 21 sport doesn't have all this. I have the 8in display.am i missing something

how do I get into settings. should the radio be on while the navigation is on. We have not touched anything. It used to work but not now. radio works but not the navigation voice. thank you

Why your airbag light on?
Hey how do you change the climate control mode? Like instead of the air being directed at me i want it to be on my feet. I dont have a mode button

Why would the traction light come on while driving on the highway in clear weather? only stayed on for about a minute or two
I'd have to see which light you're talking about to determine that.
need help! all of a sudden our voice stopped working on our navigation system in our 2021 crosstrek. the navigation system works just no voice or sound
You turned your volume down while Navigation was talking. Nav volume works separate of radio volume. You should be able to go into Setting >Navigation>volume and increase the navigation voice volume.
what about the front camera in parking?
Not available in a Crosstrek yet.

Yes, the limited will have it. As well as the Sport and premium with moonroof.
So to be clear, if I walked into a dealership today and bought a limited, it would be standard? Not something I would have to request as an upgrade? My dealer is very vague. Great video btw!
@@jswervy16 as long as it has push button start, and you subscribe to Starlink (uses the MySubaru app), then yes.

How do you turn off the radio in the 2021 subaru sport crosstrek
Press the volume button and hold it for 5 seconds.
My 2020 Crosstrek locks automatically EVEN WHEN KEYS ARE INSIDE! Is there any way to turn off automatic lock??????
My 2020 doesn't lock automatically at all. If you press the ridges on the door handle it will beep at you and won't lock. BUT I believe if you press the lock button on the inside if the door then close it.. your out of luck.

For the mini display (the one above the 8”) is that standard for all crosstrek sports? I just bought one and mine doesn’t have all the options like yours? I only get gas mileage and temperature it looks very basic.
Not on 2021 Crosstrek Sport. There is a smaller display. The + and - on the right in that display adjust the clock.
how about dash cams? can't also put it on the windshied?
Nothing should be put in that center 3rd of the windshield.

Yes. As long is the OS on the iPod is up to date.
Can I open the rear hatch from inside the car?
No, there is no automatic opener for the Crosstrek yet.
Does it have a forward facing cámara ??
No, it does not.
I wish you could speak a little slower. Your explanations are excellent but i found myself going back several times.
While video is playing there's an icon top right and you can slow the speed down
I own one, and it has 3 very annoying aspects: 1) You can't permanently turn off the annoying auto start/stop; and 2) You can't permanently turn off the radio.; 3) you can't turn off that stupid frost warning beep.
Engine auto stop start can not be permanently turned off in any vehicle equipped with iI. That's how it passes EPA standards.
The radio is what Starlink safety goes through. Why would you want to turn that off permanently?
What frost warning beep? There's an emblem....

Standard on all Subaru models now.

Simply plug your phone in to the USB.

Plug your phone during the night. When you wake up, the phone will be charge! How cool is that!
