Ep12 Engine V Belt Upgrade

In order to improve alternator performance due to engine load, it was necessary to upgrade my Yanmar engine with a flat belt kit to improve power transfer to my alternator. This video shows installation of the Balmar flat belt kit on No Problem and a closing update on a small device all alternators can benefit from regardless of belt type.

I am glad to see that your kit fit properly. last week I installed a Balmar kit on my Universal M25XP and the drive wheel was 74-thousandths of an inch too small. I needed to remove the front balance wheel/pulley from the engine and take it to a machine shop to have it turned down to fit. Rather frustrating for something that is advertised as a bolt-on assembly.

So... you posted this a year ago, and I'm late to the party... but, I've found it timely for me. I've got a new-to-me sailboat, with a Yanmar, and I'm looking to upgrade the alternator, and the pulleys/belt system. Thanks for this. Fair winds.

We have a marininised Beta marine kabuta engine. We have discovered that the v belts are being eaten at an alarming rate. Turns out it’s a pre existing condition why they have new kit for alternator belt change to flat belt
