Ep15 To San Diego - by Amtrak Train!
I know it seems strange that on a channel dedicated to sailing I would do a video about traveling to San Diego from Phoenix by train, but with cost of gas and transportation always seeming to go up, I thought this would be a fun comparison as opposed to my normal way of going to San Diego by car.
So round-trip, taking Coach, returning by Upper Class accommodations, and at the end, a comparative cost of the three different ways of traveling between Phoenix and San Diego .

My first robot - Waymo
มุมมอง 125ปีที่แล้ว
From time to time, I like to try out different forms of transportation. Waymo, is a robotic taxi service in Phoenix, Arizona. Recently they have been expanding the metropolitan area in which they serve, and I decided to integrate it into my commute to work at the ballpark. There are no tricks in this video, the robot car does everything on its own. It also integrates to the Phoenix light rail. ...
Ep14 Single Handed Dinghy Wrangling and Stowing on Boat
มุมมอง 217ปีที่แล้ว
If you don’t want to store your dinghy on shore, or you do not want to deflate and fold away your dinghy, then most sailors opt to store their ding on the bow of their boat. Here is how I do mine single handed. And storing it this way allows the head sail to be deployed when sailing with the ding lightly tied down.
Ep13 Winterizing San Diego Style
มุมมอง 27ปีที่แล้ว
In most parts of the country, boats have to be winterized. All liquids that can freeze need to be removed or replaced, and in some cases the boat must be lifted out of the water and protected from the water freezing around it. But that’s not the case in San Diego as a show in this video.
Ep12 Engine V Belt Upgrade
มุมมอง 7952 ปีที่แล้ว
In order to improve alternator performance due to engine load, it was necessary to upgrade my Yanmar engine with a flat belt kit to improve power transfer to my alternator. This video shows installation of the Balmar flat belt kit on No Problem and a closing update on a small device all alternators can benefit from regardless of belt type.
Ep11 Celebratory Signal Flags
มุมมอง 912 ปีที่แล้ว
Every year at Southwestern Yacht Club, we have a weekend where the club closes and then the next day opens. A big part of that is decorating boats to celebrate the transition of one sailing year to the next. Signal flags are a very big part of that celebration. Here’s how we handle them on No Problem.

A pilot for a proposed TV series designed to help everyone learn how a boatyard can be a partner and a place of learning, and picking a good one can make you a superior mariner. This show honors the kind of people who work on boats for a living. I am glad to see that your kit fit properly. last week I installed a Balmar kit on my Universal M25XP and the drive wheel was 74-thousandths of an inch too small. I needed to remove the front balance wheel/pulley from the engine and take it to a machine shop to have it turned down to fit. Rather frustrating for something that is advertised as a bolt-on assembly.

That does sound frustrating, but it also sounds like so many boat projects I have done in the past. Something that should take a hour or two ends up taking all day. And big projects (like my rudder replacement) even more so. Thanks for watching.

We have a marininised Beta marine kabuta engine. We have discovered that the v belts are being eaten at an alarming rate. Turns out it’s a pre existing condition why they have new kit for alternator belt change to flat belt

So... you posted this a year ago, and I'm late to the party... but, I've found it timely for me. I've got a new-to-me sailboat, with a Yanmar, and I'm looking to upgrade the alternator, and the pulleys/belt system. Thanks for this. Fair winds.

Very nice Johnny. It is interesting that you decided to do that video without any words or discussion. I could easily follow it but I thought it might hold my interest a bit better with some discussion. Also, time for an electric motor to help save the planet!

Hi wouldn't it be easier to get a smaller tender, I'd be exhausted after that.

    • @JohnSJames-qv7ow
      @JohnSJames-qv7ow ปีที่แล้ว

Well that is a thought, but since I do not have davits, keeping the tender in the water has its own set of problems. And I thought an inflatable would be an easy way to go, but deflating it, folding it up, blowing it up and assembling it takes much longer - so it stay (for the season) on the bow.

Enjoyed your video. I just picked up a free Achilles 11ft inflatable off of CL and am in the process of getting it water worthy. But so far looks to be in great condition! The original wood floors are all in place and in good shape except for the corner of one piece is broken but easily fixed.

I would say - use the best quality sealant you can find. My choice of urethane turned out not to last as long as I hoped. So, now I will start looking at Marine grade products. Thanks for the compliment.

A second great video sailing blog. I learned quite a bit here and got see a bit more of the CA coastline from the sailor's perspective. Fantastic to see the wildlife on these trips as well. These two also do a nice production work too. They must have a film background because the segments are well produced. Keep it up. Looking forward to more of the Channel Islands and then maybe San Francisco and beyond!

This one great video blog. I hope these two keep making these segments and travel all around the world. I like this production because Johnny and Andrea are very personable; they make me believe that i could do this someday. Also, they have a lot of great tips for bathtub sailors like myself and finally, there is a bit of adventure here. I can feel the energy that engulfs me as I imagine myself with large white sails over head and the spray of the sea on my back. Sail on...into the sunset!
