I fucking hate gws release strategy for all platforms at the moment, this drip feeding of models and rules whereby you have to by 12 different books and supplements to be able to field a single codex army, I mainly play heresy and those tomes aren't cheap or light, and gw wonder why people are turning more and more to 3rd party alternatives?!
I think you're looking at this the wrong way. Yes the production issues are terrible, and this is an issue seemingly right across GW. What I think more people where afraid of is this combined with player numbers could have lead to GW abandoning LI after just the first expansion. It would certainly make sense if they wanted to free up factory space for the more popular ranges. These new models clearly show that GW is committing to LI, so its good news in my book.
Tbh this is just hurting GW, as I am going to 3d print anything that I can't buy at a reasonable price I also would have really liked them bundling rules and stats as now its going to be across 3 books and extremely hard to use
I think GW is starting to really suffer from its own success, in that a small nimble org with setbacks in production wouldn’t go out and have their marketing tell you otherwise. GW is so big now, that the month by month planning on the marketing side of things is at best ignorant, and at worst unaware, to the immense built up backlog on the production side of things. The WarCom articles must flow. The WarCom articles are essential for space travel.
With another expansion on the horizon, it feels like LI is being rushed. But then stock issues are rampant across GW so maybe along with the initial release push back we are just seeing things falling into whatever release window is available. I think a big opportunity for GW is Adepticon next week - Heresy as a whole is just 'a teaser' so maybe there is something in that which will be LI specific and give the fans something. But I'm not expecting it.
Too soon for a new expansion, we’ve just had the last one. A lot of people are going to struggle to afford to get everything with each wave, which you have to buy at launch because of the stock situation. I’m starting to regret getting into LI and wish I’d gone with Old World this year. Two of my friends have packed on LI and done this already. First we had a delayed launch and then we’ve got a fire hose of models. Just pace the releases FFS.
Plastic Direwolf Scout Titans were announced in July '23. We're only a few months away from that being a full year ago. It might as well have been a Rumor Engine post
I just think there needs to be better communication between Community and R&D. We have Community announcing a release for ‘This Month’ only for that to be delayed *the very next week*. Just bad communication between the teams.
Hey, look on the bright side - if we've got most of the core stuff we were meant to have at launch after _six_ months, and most of the Great Slaughter stuff after _three_ months... who knows, maybe when this next expansion comes out they'll finally overlap and there will be minis for the expansion _at launch!_ 🤣
The only way i can explain this is that the reshedule of the first box absolutly messed their timeline up. And thats why they have to throw around these new kits since they are several months after shedule. I can still not understand why they dont sell the boxes for russes and rhinos.
I am one of those baneblade enthusiasts, but I would also like them to release what we already have rules for, first. I'm still waiting on dracosans and the plastic arvus kit so my auxilia aren't walking everywhere.
Im just buying the minis to field in 2nd Ed Epic lists :) so the new rules/expansions dont bother me in the slightest as I wont be using them... the supply issues are a little frustrating though, if you arent there online to pre-order as soon as stock is announced you aint getting any (as ive found out with my last order, of which NONE of it has been fulfilled by the supplier)
I really can't justify not getting 3d prints. I just got 100 tac marines. Because I just wanted a ton of tac marines. Plus the great slaughter isn't even finished being on preorder in Australia. Stupid collapsing American hegemony resulting in mass disruptions to global trade networks combining with stupid game workshops capital driven over expansion and stupid brexit complicating shipping and manufacturing in the UK even further. Stupid reality getting in the way of me painting adorable tiny murder men. 😢
I don't know why this needs to be repeted or explained but sure. The game was delayed by half a year. We are seeing previews probably less than half a year but still a couple of months out. Don't know why you are upset seeing previews for models coming out later in the future when we have already had the preview articles for the other stuff an know that they are coming out soon. Would you prefer GW to go radio silence on LI for half a year before releases catch up by which point the player base will be even smaller than it is now?
Previews are fine. And it’s good expansions are planned. And I don’t blame them for delays. It’s a customer facing PR issue that you don’t announce new expansions to a game that’s not fully released yet. It reads as the book version of Day One DLC. Preview models, sure. But don’t tease a new expansion until your existing base game and expansion are actually fully released. In my opinion, at any rate.
I don't know why you think it is strange that issues are raised by customers about GW marketing a further expansion when there are massive problems with releasing products for the initial release and the first expansion. It shows really bad customer relations.
Totally agree what’s the point of shiny new toys when you can’t get the shiny older ones as they are still out of stock.
