I have read a poem, every Christmas Eve since my son and daughter were very small. “Annie and Willie’s Prayer”. The book is titled “The Best Loved Poems of the American People “. My son, in particular, loves this tradition. I now have 4 grandsons (17-20 yrs old) who, just last year, really ‘got’ the meaning inside this poem. But, it never fails to make my son tear up, at 50 yrs old. When my daughter lived in Colorado, and couldn’t be home for the holidays,I made a video of myself, sitting by our tree, reading this poem, with my Christmas wishes for her and her family, and she says that was her best gift, ever. Traditions are what the best memories are made of. Feeling very nostalgic, missing my parents, and a sister that we recently lost, but thinking of the traditions that we had when I was growing up. My large family just enjoyed our grandmas dressing, for Thanksgiving ! I made it, but that will always be Grandma’s dressing. These events bring those loved ones back to us, even if only for a little while, and then the stories begin ! Thank you for this video. I am officially in the spirit, now !!

I live and work in the tropics. Born and raised in the Philippines and currently working as a Nurse in Singapore. Spends most of my time away from family for the past 13 years. Now where am I getting at? I just want you to know how calming and how this video made me feel better. I'm currently home in the Philippines (after 4 years of being stuck in Singapore due to covid, didn't go home despite borders being open due to restrictions imposed by the hospital I work for) and is down with a flu. I'll be saving this video for future reference when I do move to another country. I just love your video.
Every Christmas for the last 25 years we have saved the wood slice from the trunk of our tree before we put it in the stand. Each has been dated by my boys and as the married my daughters-in-law and now my granddaughter have also added a bit of artwork to them. The have a prominent place on the dining table in a large dough bowl! We have fun reminiscing and sharing memories of each one.
I buy those match sticks from Lowe's Hardware. Love them. I save mine too, but I let them accumulate and use them as kindling to light my wood for my wood burning fireplace.
I've often wondered why you don't have pets and then heard your hubs had a cat. Hopefully the cat survived the fire. I could totally see you all with a pet. I absolutely loved the very nature inspired Christmas decorations and package wrapping!

I agree, I am watching at 2a.m in London, really enjoying this, I tried to find those Italian Mockingbird Manor trees as soon as I saw them, impossible as I am in U.K. I thought it was going to be just Linda's house but then it went into the vintage which really gave us another 2 perspectives on Christmas decor, that bowl of grandma's baubles are exquisite. All charming hosts. Linda I loved everything. I will steal the Amaryllis, paper whites and other plants as my theme next year, I have never featured them before.

Advice for a newbie: Take walks in your neighborhood and look for yards you aspire to have! Greet that neighbor and form a connection with them. #1 they know what grows easily in your area #2 that neighbor will eventually have plants to spare when things need dividing. Another idea-my place of employment had a bring your plants to work day. My co workers all brought extra divided plants from their yard. It was almost like a cookie exchange exc with plants. I was a teacher at the time. It was a morale booster idea. I also give away extra plants at the end of my driveway with a sign that says “take me.” Check out clearance section for perennials. Take cutting of plants and see if you can propagate and make new plants- favs for me are Coleus, Purple Heart and spider babies. I deadhead flowers and either scatter the seeds or save the seeds for nxt yr. Last pc of advice don’t be afraid to fail. Take things out or move things that you don’t like.
Oh, those red glasses! My aunt had those glasses in a small bar and I loved them so much. They were green. She also had vintage red in a different design. I inherited a few but searched online for more and found a small case of green to add to my glasses. I use them for everyday.

I love your older home and it’s beautiful little treasures, rounded doorways, little mailbox slot, beautiful little peekaboo opening on front door and especially your rounded window over the sink. I like all the colors compared to all white rooms. Warm colors make a house inviting and cozy looking. Thank you for sharing your home and personal history. What a rich life! Regarding the stockings: I have made very elaborate stockings for all of the children born into my extended family. I choose kits from Bucilla, and each stocking takes me about two months to make. This year I made three and started on them in June or July. I finished about a month ago. It's very relaxing to do this type of hand sewing in front of the TV.
Happy Birthday, Linda !! I love a home full of precious memories. Almost everything that I own comes with its own story, and was either gifted to me or handed down. Especially at the holidays. Oooo, I have that wooden horse ornament that's on your kitchen windowsill! Purchased it years ago. Any time I'd be invited to a bridal or baby shower, I'd look for a "special" ornament to attach to the gift as well as its duplicate for myself. I'd write the name of the person gifted on mine. So nice to reminisce when putting up the tree each year.

I have a tree of heaven. The branches break easily. They have a nice curvature. I painted several in white and created an arched baugh, about 4 feet across. I tied it in the center with wire. I wrap it in soft white lights with white cording. Then I hang some old chandelier parts on it. Either tear drops or a short string of glass. I add white and silver silk pointsettas in the center to hide the wire. I hang it above the big bay window in the dinning room and another in the livingroom. (indoors)
8 do have spode christmas tree dinnerware i used to use it 9nly at our big Christmas meal like my mother always did but now at 71 yrs old I'm using it for breakfast and lunch and Using what I love . Why wait!!, I also bought at bed bath beyond some melamine spode Christmas tree dinnerware so.I can include my 5 grand children in the e festive dinnerware. Happy holidays

I have those red depression-glass glasses and red luncheon plates. I use them with my Lenox fine china decorated with holly wreaths. The Lenox was made here in Trenton, NJ .

Like you, I have items that come out every year and even the simple act of unpacking of these treasures brings a joy of their own. ❤️❤️

My favorite memory is family but I've got a sister Donna that's the baby in the family I like to connect with her since our mother died 2 years ago the day after Christmas we try to comfort one another and help each other decorate cuz she's over the decorations at our gym and our church so we help one another Jeff
Absolutely stunning and gave me great ideas. I’m a very good decorator and gardener and love thriving and love antique shops. I’m 50 and have 3 college aged daughters but still do a lot of the things from when they were young!!! You have such a gift!!!Happy Birthday 🎉🎂🎂🥳
Oooo, I have that wooden horse ornament that's on your kitchen windowsill! Purchased it years ago. Any time I'd be invited to a bridal or baby shower, I'd look for a "special" ornament to attach to the gift as well as its duplicate for myself. I'd write the name of the person gifted on mine. So nice to reminisce when putting up the tree each year.

No mater how my day is going, you always leave me feeling like we had tea and a visit! You don’t know me , but I know you and consider you my friend ! I have a tree of heaven. The branches break easily. They have a nice curvature. I painted several in white and created an arched baugh, about 4 feet across. I tied it in the center with wire. I wrap it in soft white lights with white cording. Then I hang some old chandelier parts on it. Either tear drops or a short string of glass. I add white and silver silk pointsettas in the center to hide the wire. I hang it above the big bay window in the dinning room and another in the livingroom. (indoors)
8 do have spode christmas tree dinnerware i used to use it 9nly at our big Christmas meal like my mother always did but now at 71 yrs old I'm using it for breakfast and lunch and Using what I love . Why wait!!, I also bought at bed bath beyond some melamine spode Christmas tree dinnerware so.I can include my 5 grand children in the e festive dinnerware. Happy holidays

I LOVE your cozy area! We have something like that and its our favorite spot in the house. We also eat breakfast and dinner there. It looks out the back yard to the woods and we can see all the wildlife! My floors squeak also! 😊
