I am interested in purchasing a farish c class, but dor the life of me I can't find one in secr livery... any idea of where I could look? Or just get lucky on ebay.. Great collection by the way, and fantastic layout!
Thanks very much! I don't do much track cleaning to be honest! When I do I use IPA on a record cleaning cloth. Loco wheels rarely get dirty on the railway but coach and wagon wheels need more maintenance. If trains haven't been run for weeks I tend to run them for a while to get things running smoothly again. The rear of the layout is really hard to access but it can all be reached in one way or another.
Hi Ian. Two questions: 1) I know this may *sound* a strange question, but do you use the HM7000 app to control your Next18-fitted locos? 2) Have you ever tried to convert any of your Union Mills locos to DCC?
Hi Paul, no I haven't tried the Hornby decoders yet but wouldn't mind having a go. I run all my Union Mills locos on DCC along with most of my other locos. I can swap easily between DC and DCC.
Proper lovely; really enjoyed that. Gave my N gauge stuff to my brother earlier in the year. I’m too clumsy for it!
Thanks a lot! I thought it was fiddly until I got back into Z gauge recently. 7 1/4" gauge is definitely easier to see!
Superb Layout Ian ! didn't know you were a female impersonator as well !!!
Haha wondered if anyone would hear that!

Thanks very much! They are so rare now and it's a real shame. Even the black ones are rare now as well. Maybe they will do a re-release.
This a beautifully detailed layout and it looks like you have the locos running fantastically well at low speed, any tips on track cleaning etc?
