For anyone where it says it's not supported for 7.1, you have to click properties, advanced, and set to 16 bit audio. Once done you can then go and set the 7.1 setting.
Newer windows 10 users, the sound menu has changed: Right click the speaker icon in the tray > open sound settings > select Speakers GSX 1200 Pro. Click Device properties under it > click additional device properties> enhancements > disable all enhancements

I was started to stress about why did I just spend $500 on these (or more?) but watching your video it was just because the communication device was selected and default. I also watched a YT vid review from BadSeed Tech where he reviewed your new GSP500 that just came out last month in Canada. He went on to say that it seems as if the GSP500 openback gaming headset and the GSX1000 were specifically tuned to work in tandem. . . It was as if they were made for each other. WEll, that was all I needed to hear, so I went out and bought a set. All I gotta say is W O W ! ! ! Sennheiser you guys hit this one right outta the PARK with this combo. I'm talking about a grandslam here fellas Keep up the great work over there.
I've been enjoying the 7.1 features of this amp, but I recently tried 24bit 96KHZ (HD 2.0) in BFV and was blown away by the audio quality with my PC38X headset. I think I'm sticking with this new setting!
Hey Guys n gals @sennheisergaming. It's been a few months now and I am continually blown away at the sound I have been getting with my GSX1000. And tonite as I was just browsing your YT channel, I came across this video on how to set up this baby from scratch. I'm always keen on this stuff as I know that sometimes, sometimes you could miss something on the setup. And guess what? I did. The other night I was listening to my Mass Senns HD6xx with my other amp, the Mayflower ARC. When switched back to my GSX, something wasn't right. And when I went into Discord to hook up with my buddies to play some seige, I could hear them, but they could not hear me. I tried restarting, I tried configging discord, I tried everything I could think of. And when I finally got it going, the comms and sound, sounded annoyingly like a whiny tin can. I could def relate to that. I watched the presenter go through the setup tips, and even though I thought I had it set right, well, it wasn't. Seems I did NOT have my "speaker" icon in the "playback" tab set to "default device". As soon as I turned that option back on, . . . night n day with sound. It IMMEDIATELY sounded soooo much better. TYVM :) So excuse me while I get back into another heated set of Battlefield 4 and maybe some Rainbow6 Seige. Sennheiser gaming, don't stop making vids like this. Because no matter how much one may know about something, there's always something you might have overlooked right ?!?!?! Peace out !
7.1 wont turn on for me, says its not supported by the device and how do i turn on the sidetone? i pressed something on the box and turned it off and cant remember what i pressed xD
I know this may sound stupid but in your instructions you state to make sure you set the GSX as the default mic on Recording tab. Just FYI that is ONLY if you are using the GSX input for your mic. If you are not using this do not do that step. I'm sure most people know this but just in case I wanted to point this out,
This is most likely because you have set your Main Audio device to 24bit. All functions, other than stereo, only work in 16bit. To Fix this: · Go to Playback Devices · Double-click the GSX 1000/ 1200 Pro Main Audio · Go to the Advanced tab and set to 16bit 44100HZ · Press Apply

Another issue with this device is the ultra sensitive mic, the headsets poor sound output, the amp connects to your PC via USB & doesn't use your soundcard is frustrating but as windows sees the amp as one device (default device) with the headset being the default communication device, this means when you toggle from headset to speakers it only switches certain applications sound from headset to speaker. Previous to my PC310 G4ME that has simple simple audio jacks & uses my sound card, but when plugged into a cheap audio switch with my speakers it switches ALL my sound as it should do! ...Overall the cheaper setup gave me less hassle, better headset/mic sound quality (input/output) easy to configure & not limiting my use! Take note Sennheiser, you nerfed this headset by relying on software over hardware.

Thank you for making these videos, I love this clean sounding amp, I just got it today to go with my gsp 600. This helped me understand setting it up alot better. Seems like I can hear every detail even at low volume. I like being able to use my mic as a passthrough with a quick touch. Don't have to remove my headset when someone says something to me in the house. If y'all had some EPOS speakers or monitor sized soundbars in the near future, I'm ready.
If you switch/upgrade from Game Zeroes to GSP 600s, you need to set them up again with the GSX 1000. Or at least if you unplug the mic/headphone cables.
Great video, i got the GSX 1000 and normally it sounded like tin cans, i was like wtfff, found this video and fixed that. I got them paired to the Game One headset but compared to the mainboard audio from the Asus Hero 9 i sadly have to say that it's not worth the price so i returned it. The 7.1 feature made games sound way worse for me and it's just not worth it to me.
thanks ! when i first plugged it in i was taken aback by how it sounded worse than my hyperx mini amp, but it was because it defaults to the wrong component.. I wonder how many people ended up returning this unit because they thought the amp sucked.
I bought this and the quality is even more amazing on my GSP 600. The mic sounds better, The quality sounds better and I love that I can change the settings on the GSX 1000 on the fly, This is truly a fantastic high tech device! I wish I can use 7.1 on 24 bit, Two problems with this is when I turn the volume on my headset there is a crackling sound so I need to not turn up the volume on my headset too much and the lower or raise my mic volume on the bottom right side is not smooth so it's hard to scroll it

@@micheldumont5460 Yep they can, You turn the volume on the headset all the way and the amp all the way, It's extremely loud but I don't recommend doing that it'll blow off your ears lol.
@@micheldumont5460 You still hear a little buzz sound when you turn your headset volume all the way up tho so you can have it almost max on your headset to get rid of the buzz sound.
Is there any difference in audio quality for games between 7.1 16 bit and 2 channel 24 bit or is the later primarily for people with hi res music? And if I play most games in 2 channel (some don’t have surround or are built for binaural headphones) can I still leave it in 7.1 and 16 bit all the time?

Thank you for your video, I would say that the GSX 1200 Pro that I have is a perfect combo with dolby headphones from win 10, i'm loosing the 96Khz (48 instead, 24 bits) but the sound is way more spatial and accurate with dolby than 2.0 HD on the amplifier. Just in case, for people that might have that option available (need to pay it once for all your "official" windows devices)
I have the most up-to-date version of Windows, and that whole dialog shown in your example is gone. It doesn't even mention anything about 7.1 Surround anymore. Now there's only a choice between "Standard" and "Windows Sonic." Default bit rate for GSX1000 shows as 24 bit@46k Hz or "Studio Quality." It was my understanding that these values are too high to work with Surround 7.1. But apparently they will work with "Windows Sonic"? Unlike other commenters Windows didn't tell me I couldn't have the 24-bit@46 kHz quality if I chose Windows Sonic which is apparently the replacement for Surround 7.1. I set the GSX1000 to Windows Sonic on my PC and tried both 16-bit and 24-bit at 46 kHz. Set the GSX1000's own on-board setting to Surround 7.1. Did not hear any significant difference between 16 and 24k. Sound improvement on BF1 provided by GSX1000 + GSP600s over my current Logitech G433s with 7.1 Surround is good, but not insanely good. One thing that surprised me is that the semi-open world and open world "reverb" settings sounded terrible - they made the sound quality overall seem very cheap and rattly, it was actually shocking how bad it is. Sounds great without the reverb, though, so not an issue. Hopefully I'll still receive sufficient directional cues in my FPS games without using the semi-open and open world settings. I almost never use in-game chat, so in addition to making the GSX1000 the default playback device, I disabled Communication Device entirely.
"Did not hear any significant difference between 16 and 24k."- Let's start off with the fact that most human hearing is not good and are trained enough to actually hear a difference here. You also do not know for sure if, there is really 24k reaching the headset or the DAC for that matter. A lot of games actually don't even "put out" 24k level audio, so even though you have set your device to send that, it cannot. If it is set to Windows Sonic, is their own Microsoft based virtual surround sound, so if that is turned on, the GSX 1000 will not do its own 7.1 rendering.
whish this had an optional aux audio-in (for non-usb audio sources) also, I cant find any explanations for the functions of the device itself (like what the white stripes do when I touch them, control the surround sound I guess?)
I recently got this and wish I'd seen your video as I was a bit lost to begin with, everything is fine now. I'm a little dissapointed with this DAC overall, but I got it for a good price so i'll be keeping it. I have a lot of FLAC files on my pc, and like to have high resolution DACs to get the most out of them, so I wish that there was a simple switch between 24bit 2.0 HD and 16b 7.1 Surround mode, that would be perfect. Also, the 7.1 surround sound seems pretty bad in comparison to Dolby Atmos for headphones activated in windows. It sounds fake, the positional accuracy isn't that good. The EQ settings are all very bad and the reverb is awful. I do however really like the 2.0HD sound quality, and love the one-touch switch between headphones and speakers, that is probably the main reason I will be keeping it, nothing else on the market allows you to switch between things to quickly and easily, it could just do with a few things being fixed for me. I paid £65 but I definitely would not pay £200 +

depends on your taste. just know to enable 7.1 you have to set it up in windows then switch the speakers (GSX1000-1200) down to 16bit resolution. It opens up the sound stage pretty well, i personally like it.
24bit is standars i dunno how they release this shit with only 16 bit virtual souround, maybe poor sound processors and yes there is a diference but you need good recorded audio and nice gear to feel the diference

I'm using the hyperx cloud flights and every time I click on surround sound in the windows settings it says that the device doesn't support it. Am I not getting the proper surround sound?? ( thought these were capable headphones at first)
In the Speaker Properties window, select the Advanced tab and set the Default Format to 16 bit 48000 Hz (DVD quality) and hit Apply. - 24 bit audio is not available for the GSX 1000 / GSX 1200 Pro, only 16 bit audio is supported via Windows.
Hi! I've bougt my GSX 1000 unit and every time when i start my computer, box seems to be off. Every time i need to unplug USB -cable and after that it wakes up. So what to do with this?
My problem was that the GSX1200 booted during bios loading but couldn't fully boot before Windows started loading and then shut off. So when I got into Windows I had to unplug cable and plug in again. I fixed this by going into bios and made my pc boot slower (in ASUS bios I changed "Post delay time" to 10 seconds) so the GSX1200 booted fully before Windows started to load. Fixed my problem.
Can I use a USB microphone with a headphones monitoring line with this card instead of a microphone on an headset? Is it possible to hear our own voice in real time with this card ?

I would like to get gsx 1200 with either Sennheiser HD 660s or PXC 550 or Momentum 2.0 The question is whether either of these headphones are going to work with/benefit from this unit? I am new to this kind of stuff, but as far as i understand, dac/amp works only with analog connected headphones, and not with USB wireless headsets(like my logitech G933). Also, would my razer leviathan 5.1 soundbar benefit from this unit(connected through 3.5 mm jack)?

One of my friends (ps4 pro) who i play on ps4 with have this soundcard and there is a buzz/humm everytime his microphone activates, is there a solution to this problem? Its very annoying as it destroys the sound image on my side all i hear gets destroyed due to this buzz/humm.

Ok Sennheiser I have done all the setup on this video. got 1 questions to it: 1. When I apply the settings of 24bit 96000 Hz - then the device automatically goes into "2.0 HD" mode - and if I want to go to presets of yours like to change from 2.0 to 7.1 I find it deactivated. If I want to change again some presets like switch from 2.0 to 7.1 I need to make the quality max 48000 Hz - is that correct?

When i have it set to 7.1 and i put gsx communications on discord as output device to hear my friends its just no sound. But if i put it at 2.0 it works sometimes. I have no idea if this is a defective device or it just doesn't work with 7.1.

I've made everything as described in a video but when I am trying to rotate the volume ring, doesn't matter to reduce or increase the volume, windows sound is reducing for some reason... Like I'm trying to increase volume from 30 to 60 then windows sound is changing on 30 points down. Did anyone faced with such problem?

I have everything set up according to this vid and I am using my headset and studio monitors to switch between using the GSX but my monitors just have static when not in use. they play audio but you can hear the static still

So I recently bought the GSX1000 and I recently bough XM4s as a switch to better audio for gaming. I used these headphones in combination with my elgato wave 3 mic. Before introducing the GSX1000 my headphones were working immaculately with my wave 3's (the mic has a 3.5mm jack for audio). I bought the dac for the sole purpose of EQ and controlling volume and audio settings through a dac rather than a virtual software. For some reason my GSX1000 won't recognize the headphones in their app. I can hear everything, but I want to change the EQ of the audio to make it slightly less bassy and open them up a bit. Everytime I use the EPOS gaming suite, nothing is recognized, so I'm just stuck on the settings page and can't do any customization. This is really making the gsx1000 sort of useless, and I paid over $150 for it... can someone please help :(

@@sirolt You can only have 24bit audio in stereo (2.0) mode, if you want 7.1 surround sound you have to use 16bit

Man this thing is amazing. I can hear sounds from behind me. Dolby and other virtual surround cant do this.

Thank you for making these videos, I love this clean sounding amp, I just got it today to go with my gsp 600. This helped me understand setting it up alot better. Seems like I can hear every detail even at low volume. I like being able to use my mic as a passthrough with a quick touch. Don't have to remove my headset when someone says something to me in the house. If y'all had some EPOS speakers or monitor sized soundbars in the near future, I'm ready.

If you switch/upgrade from Game Zeroes to GSP 600s, you need to set them up again with the GSX 1000. Or at least if you unplug the mic/headphone cables.
Great video, i got the GSX 1000 and normally it sounded like tin cans, i was like wtfff, found this video and fixed that.
I got them paired to the Game One headset but compared to the mainboard audio from the Asus Hero 9 i sadly have to say that it's not worth the price so i returned it.
The 7.1 feature made games sound way worse for me and it's just not worth it to me.

The mic sounds better, The quality sounds better and I love that I can change the settings on the GSX 1000 on the fly, This is truly a fantastic high tech device!
I wish I can use 7.1 on 24 bit, Two problems with this is when I turn the volume on my headset there is a crackling sound so I need to not turn up the volume on my headset too much and the lower or raise my mic volume on the bottom right side is not smooth so it's hard to scroll it

@@micheldumont5460 Yep they can, You turn the volume on the headset all the way and the amp all the way, It's extremely loud but I don't recommend doing that it'll blow off your ears lol.

According to the specs on the Sennheiser website, the GSX 1000 provides enough to power headphones up to 150 ohm. So you should be good.

Thank you for your video, I would say that the GSX 1200 Pro that I have is a perfect combo with dolby headphones from win 10, i'm loosing the 96Khz (48 instead, 24 bits) but the sound is way more spatial and accurate with dolby than 2.0 HD on the amplifier. Just in case, for people that might have that option available (need to pay it once for all your "official" windows devices)

I have the most up-to-date version of Windows, and that whole dialog shown in your example is gone. It doesn't even mention anything about 7.1 Surround anymore. Now there's only a choice between "Standard" and "Windows Sonic."
Default bit rate for GSX1000 shows as 24 bit@46k Hz or "Studio Quality." It was my understanding that these values are too high to work with Surround 7.1. But apparently they will work with "Windows Sonic"? Unlike other commenters Windows didn't tell me I couldn't have the 24-bit@46 kHz quality if I chose Windows Sonic which is apparently the replacement for Surround 7.1.
I set the GSX1000 to Windows Sonic on my PC and tried both 16-bit and 24-bit at 46 kHz. Set the GSX1000's own on-board setting to Surround 7.1. Did not hear any significant difference between 16 and 24k.
Sound improvement on BF1 provided by GSX1000 + GSP600s over my current Logitech G433s with 7.1 Surround is good, but not insanely good. One thing that surprised me is that the semi-open world and open world "reverb" settings sounded terrible - they made the sound quality overall seem very cheap and rattly, it was actually shocking how bad it is. Sounds great without the reverb, though, so not an issue. Hopefully I'll still receive sufficient directional cues in my FPS games without using the semi-open and open world settings.
I almost never use in-game chat, so in addition to making the GSX1000 the default playback device, I disabled Communication Device entirely.
"Did not hear any significant difference between 16 and 24k."- Let's start off with the fact that most human hearing is not good and are trained enough to actually hear a difference here. You also do not know for sure if, there is really 24k reaching the headset or the DAC for that matter. A lot of games actually don't even "put out" 24k level audio, so even though you have set your device to send that, it cannot.
If it is set to Windows Sonic, is their own Microsoft based virtual surround sound, so if that is turned on, the GSX 1000 will not do its own 7.1 rendering.
whish this had an optional aux audio-in (for non-usb audio sources)
also, I cant find any explanations for the functions of the device itself (like what the white stripes do when I touch them, control the surround sound I guess?)
So does this just basically make it so a pair of stereo headphones can work with 7.1?

I recently got this and wish I'd seen your video as I was a bit lost to begin with, everything is fine now.
I'm a little dissapointed with this DAC overall, but I got it for a good price so i'll be keeping it. I have a lot of FLAC files on my pc, and like to have high resolution DACs to get the most out of them, so I wish that there was a simple switch between 24bit 2.0 HD and 16b 7.1 Surround mode, that would be perfect.
Also, the 7.1 surround sound seems pretty bad in comparison to Dolby Atmos for headphones activated in windows. It sounds fake, the positional accuracy isn't that good. The EQ settings are all very bad and the reverb is awful.
I do however really like the 2.0HD sound quality, and love the one-touch switch between headphones and speakers, that is probably the main reason I will be keeping it, nothing else on the market allows you to switch between things to quickly and easily, it could just do with a few things being fixed for me. I paid £65 but I definitely would not pay £200 +

depends on your taste. just know to enable 7.1 you have to set it up in windows then switch the speakers (GSX1000-1200) down to 16bit resolution. It opens up the sound stage pretty well, i personally like it.
24bit is standars i dunno how they release this shit with only 16 bit virtual souround, maybe poor sound processors and yes there is a diference but you need good recorded audio and nice gear to feel the diference

I'm using the hyperx cloud flights and every time I click on surround sound in the windows settings it says that the device doesn't support it. Am I not getting the proper surround sound?? ( thought these were capable headphones at first)
In the Speaker Properties window, select the Advanced tab and set the Default Format to 16 bit 48000 Hz (DVD quality) and hit Apply.
- 24 bit audio is not available for the GSX 1000 / GSX 1200 Pro, only 16 bit audio is supported via Windows.
Hi! I've bougt my GSX 1000 unit and every time when i start my computer, box seems to be off. Every time i need to unplug USB -cable and after that it wakes up. So what to do with this?
Facing the same issue
My problem was that the GSX1200 booted during bios loading but couldn't fully boot before Windows started loading and then shut off. So when I got into Windows I had to unplug cable and plug in again. I fixed this by going into bios and made my pc boot slower (in ASUS bios I changed "Post delay time" to 10 seconds) so the GSX1200 booted fully before Windows started to load. Fixed my problem.

The question is whether either of these headphones are going to work with/benefit from this unit? I am new to this kind of stuff, but as far as i understand, dac/amp works only with analog connected headphones, and not with USB wireless headsets(like my logitech G933).

Hi, i have a question? Can you help, its regarding sennheiser gsx 1200 pro. One of my friends (ps4 pro) who i play on ps4 with have this soundcard and there is a buzz/humm everytime his microphone activates, is there a solution to this problem? Its very annoying as it destroys the sound image on my side all i hear gets destroyed due to this buzz/humm.
I have GSX 1000. 7.1 system works great however in Call of Duty CW all sounds that come from behind the player are super loud. Is there an option that I am missing?

1. When I apply the settings of 24bit 96000 Hz - then the device automatically goes into "2.0 HD" mode - and if I want to go to presets of yours like to change from 2.0 to 7.1 I find it deactivated. If I want to change again some presets like switch from 2.0 to 7.1 I need to make the quality max 48000 Hz - is that correct?

When i have it set to 7.1 and i put gsx communications on discord as output device to hear my friends its just no sound. But if i put it at 2.0 it works sometimes. I have no idea if this is a defective device or it just doesn't work with 7.1.

I've made everything as described in a video but when I am trying to rotate the volume ring, doesn't matter to reduce or increase the volume, windows sound is reducing for some reason... Like I'm trying to increase volume from 30 to 60 then windows sound is changing on 30 points down. Did anyone faced with such problem?

I have everything set up according to this vid and I am using my headset and studio monitors to switch between using the GSX but my monitors just have static when not in use. they play audio but you can hear the static still

GSP 350 doesn't work with the GSX products as they are both USB devices.

So I recently bought the GSX1000 and I recently bough XM4s as a switch to better audio for gaming. I used these headphones in combination with my elgato wave 3 mic. Before introducing the GSX1000 my headphones were working immaculately with my wave 3's (the mic has a 3.5mm jack for audio). I bought the dac for the sole purpose of EQ and controlling volume and audio settings through a dac rather than a virtual software. For some reason my GSX1000 won't recognize the headphones in their app. I can hear everything, but I want to change the EQ of the audio to make it slightly less bassy and open them up a bit. Everytime I use the EPOS gaming suite, nothing is recognized, so I'm just stuck on the settings page and can't do any customization. This is really making the gsx1000 sort of useless, and I paid over $150 for it... can someone please help :(
