Literally had the steering wheel pulled out of their hands, crazy stuff, they didn't even have to use any power tools to extricate the driver. Totally Amazing! Speedy recovery wished to the other driver.
How can a head-on crash rips the front off so cleanly? I would say some very dodgy back street 'garage' has joined two halves together with a few tacks of weld and maybe a pop rivet or two....
It appears that the Accord lost control on the wet road and was hit in the drivers side front wheel, sheering off the front end of the car. Accord driver's side curtain airbag deployed which leads me to believe it was hit on the drivers side. Not a direct head-on collision as the steering wheel airbag did not deploy. With the way it separated, you may be correct that this was a salvage title car.
This is the first time I have seen a car split in two pieces as a result of a head on crash. Usually it takes an impact from the side to rip a vehicle into two pieces. Glad to hear these people survived. It is rare but sometimes does happen. There was a video I saw where a Mustang was split in two and the driver was walking around with no injuries, but seeing the condition of the car one would assume there must be a fatality.
@@johnfraser8116 as crazy as it seems it appears the airbag module got ripped out befor it could send the signal. the milliseconds for that to happen... this is bizarre. Or its possible the driver disconnected it and the whole system.
So many people here being confused that old Accord is a Civic. They didn't read description and they don't know both cars are Hondas. Gray 2-door modern Civic and old black 90s Accord cut in half.
Thank you for the report in the "more" section Scott. I do have a question though. In the report it states one driver was seat belted in the rear of the car. Does that mean the force of the collision pushed the front seat all the way to the rear? Maybe I just need one more cup of coffee and try to understand?
Updated 3am PT. SYNOPSIS: For those who don't read the show notes: The car that was split in two pieces (the Honda *Accord) is presumed to be at fault as it supposedly/allegedly crossed the center line and hit the other car HEAD ON. Hmmm... driver causes horrific accident, is unscathed and doesn't want to go to the hospital? hmmmmmm... whatever could be the reason for that? Anyway, the other driver was seriously injured and is in the hospital.
That's because the honda civic in this video, makes more power than the 8 liter 75 horsepower v8s of that era. Combine the anemic power..... with an 8,000 pound car, it was next to impossible to die.
Cars are way heavier than they have ever been, also safer. Cars had no crumple zones before that's why they didn't give as much and why when they did give the crashes were horrific. A 8mph crash is and always has been bad but I'd much rather crash a modern car at 80 than a classic car at 80.
If you read the description about the accident BEFORE seeing the video then everyone has the SAME info and there's NO guessing wrong, different opinions or wrongful blaming!! Just the facts so far...
My guess as to how it went down... the Accord spins left into the path of the Civic and hits the left corner of the Civic with the right front so the Accord driver gets shoved rearwards and the car tears off away from him instead of into him. Notice the front of the Accord appears undamaged but the right wheel is smashed in good. And the drivers seat is broken backwards by the look of it. Anyway that puts the front end on one side of the road and the rest spins off to the side same as the Civic who probably got the worst of it.
A friend of mine was driving his Barracuda and hit a steel street light pole splitting the car in two. The back seat was in one half and the front seats in the other. He crawled out between the seats without a scratch.
