Ahh the Chiss, Im trying to think of a real world comparison , but I can't, they are just that great.
How about the Soviet Union? Russia? From the communist government, to the cold weather, to drinking vodka at age 14... the Chiss were even written as the proverbial foreign "other" superpower in the galaxy. There are tons of similarities.
@@mattk6719 The Chiss more remind me of an Earth 19th century Imperial Germany or Russia in retrospect with a tint of British Meritocracy.

I know this is 3yrs later but there are 3 books out now call thrawn ascendancy it's about thrawn before he went to the empire and what led up to him being banished.
Long time enemies of the Chiss Ascendancy that the Acendency refused to recognize as a threat till it was almost too late so Thrawn had to smack em down without orders.
Ah the Chiss Ascendancy one of my favorite factions. If only they were willing to strike out first against threats they could have been so much larger. They might have been able to get control of a good part of the Unknown Regions if they did.
They are not to be underestimated especially thrawn.
It is pronounced CHILL/LA . It is a Hungarian female name meaning "star"
He also pronounces Aristocra wrong.
Great video Corey! You're clearly becoming more at ease with doing these videos, and I can tell you've put more effort into having something visual for use to look at while you talk about things that don't have a lot of official images.
The Chiss are one of my favorite factions as well, and I really wish we had gotten to see more of them before the Expanded Universe was ended.

the chiss in the mmo are like thrawn they are outside of the standard forces of the Ascendancy they were snet because the chiss were aware of the sith empire in exile and offered limited services in exchange for being left alone the empire agreed due to the fact that the chiss had managed to arrive on the sith homeworld without being detected by any imperial force and the empires leadership saw them as a race that would make great agents and spies they would later vanish from history due to much info about this time being lost

I hate what Disney did to thrawn. Straight disrespect. The thrawn trilogy was amazing. How dare Disney destroy it to label it legends and then replace it with their fan fiction
I must admit, though, that the voice actor they got for Thrawn did a magnificent job.
I mean, “Thrawn” was my first introduction to the character and he’s now one of my favorite characters of all time. I do not like “Rebels,” though, where he became this stereotypical spooky bad guy and was defeated by a bunch of children (and what’s with that ugly visual design? Not my favorite).

Random thought: Why would Palpatine ever have made a deal with this man? He had absolutely nothing to gain from it and would possibly open himself up to attack. Canon-wise now, not Legends. I think they might have screwed the pooch on that one.
