    I feel like there a few Wars to Trek parallel races/factions:
    Chiss - Part Romulans, part Andorians
    Mandalorians & Wookiees - Klingons
    Hutts - Orion Syndicate
    Weequay & Trandoshans - Nausicaans
    Republic - Federation
    The Empire - The Dominion
    Toydarians - Ferengi
    Tell me if you can think of any others :-)

  • @artembentsionov
    @artembentsionov 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Very nice! You could’ve said more about their Force users though. The most recent canonic book reveals that a number of their children are Force-sensitive. They use them as hyperspace navigators in the treacherous Unknown Regions. But since they lack knowledge of the Force, they haven’t been able to figure out how to keep those powers from fading at puberty. Force-sensitive kids tend to get abandoned by the government after they lose their powers. There’s some implication in the book that Thrawn himself may have been Force-sensitive as a child but lost that ability and was cast aside (update: it was actually his sister, who was taken from their family). Or maybe he simply knows someone like that. Either way, he was clearly pissed at this practice.
    In the Legends books, they had no Force-sensitives period, since Thrawn was confused by the very notion of a Jedi capable of doing things that seem to defy physics. They also had no droids implying cybernetics was never developed for various reasons.
    They also never heard of the Republic, whereas in the new canon they know of it and even fought on the side of the Sith Empire a few millennia ago

      @daniellogan-scott5968 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know your post is a few years old and you probably forgot about it. I think in the new books it is hinted that Thrawn had a sister who was taken away to be a skywalker and not that he himself had been force sensitive. This is used to explain why he care so much about the skywalkers.

    • @artembentsionov

    The Old Republic was aware of the Chiss in the distant past. Likely due to the Chiss persistence to protect their space, they have allow the Republic to forget their existence for centuries. Likely one of the reasons why the Old Republic has lost contact with the Chiss was a result of one of the major wars throughout the history of the Old Republic. The Chiss may have found the presence of some hyperspace routes from the known Galaxy into the Unknown Regions.

    I'd love to see a crossover where Chiss and Vulcans confront. Two rational species one developped in the cold, the other born in the heat, both slightly above average in terms of physical strength and brainpower.
    Mix the two species and you get the Abh, a created species to be inherantly adapted to space travel in a Japanese novel series. (Crest of Stars followed by Banner of stars) That species, created and enslaved by humans eventually rebelled and conquered the galaxy.

    Excellent work, but due to the more recent canon Thrawn Ascendancy books, some information is missing or slightly incorrect. For example, the third name is an occupational name and not a family name and only high ranking military drop their family name, Since Thrawn is the Chiss we know the best, it is easy to think that he is typical of his species, however the books show that among the Chiss he is considered remarkable or above average whereas to us he is Sherlock Holmes level super-genius. In terms of reasoning skills, the average Chiss would be comparable to a gifted person in our society and someone like Thrawn would be genius level. It is high praise indeed that Admiral Ar'alani considers Eli Vanto's job performance to be acceptable.
