    As always, great video, regarding the net now... in the school where I work the tables are so bad, I mean sctratched and nets broken, I bought similar ones to those of video and started organizing tournaments to buy a new table

    Hey Alois
    I have trouble doing backhand topspin. I can't get any topspin because it ends up being a smash instead so it gets me in trouble. I'm playing against a great server who's doing a low spinny sidespin serve so I need to do the attack to win the point but I just can't get any topspin on my backhand. I'm pretty strong on my forehand but I need help for my backhand topspin.

      Keep working on it. See if you can get your opponent to serve to you over and over so you can get more practice. Make sure you are brushing the ball to generate lots of topspin. I think that is the key in this situation.

      PingSkills Okay, I'll give it a try.

    I have a Tibhar Metal Net Gauge that is weighty so I can check the tension of the net on a second track that runs parallel to the net height measuring, but I am not sure of how much tension you are supposed to have in the net. How "stringy" is the thread running inside the top of the net supposed to be?

      Interesting question. I'm not sure of the answer. Can you please ask this on our website and I'll see if we can get an umpire to answer it for you - www.pingskills.com/table-tennis-forum

    hello, i have a question about the pads
    does the rubber have to be black and red or can you costumise it and use it in tournaments.
    or is there a rule that you cant?
    if so what is the reason for it.
    thank you in advance

    • @pingskills
      @pingskills  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to have one red and one black rubber. This was brought in because players were using two rubbers of the same colour with one being extremely spinny and one having no grip. It caused the opponent a lot of confusion.

    Do some tournaments have different height nets than others? If not, what's the purpose of being able to change net height?

    • @pingskills
      @pingskills  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, all nets have the same height but depending on how they are put on and how tight the net is they can vary by a few mm. So having the adjustment helps you get it exactly right. In tournaments the umpires should check the net heights before the matches.

    I play on a board which is 8x4, haven't got a proper table. Most nets are too long... Have you any suggestions other than getting a proper table?

    • @887363
      @887363 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what stores are available in your area but at our local walmart there is a table tennis anywhere kit that comes with a net where the length of the net is adjustable, off course if you are serious about table tennis, I do recommended getting an actual table as it will be much better than what you have right now

    • @theinacircleoftheancientpu492
      @theinacircleoftheancientpu492 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ricky golfer Thanks for the advice, it would be really helpful but... I'm in the U.k. and we don't have walmart.
      You are right, of course, but a decent table is about £300 so that's quite a bit to fork out...
      Thanks all the same.

      ricky golfer re: Table tennis nets. I have found something that looks like it would work. I'm not sure of the quality but its probs better than wrapping one end of the net round the post a number of times to make it shorter lol.
      Joola play anywhere net, bribartt.co.uk Is what it is and where I found it. Thanks for the help mate. =)

    Hey! I try to do a serve with a spin where it goes to the side but when I do it I always do it either too long or too too short, please I need to be able to do it just right to wreck everyone in my school

    • @xens6285
      @xens6285 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      and it goes very high or short too

    • @pingskills
      @pingskills  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's great you are learning these types of serves. They do take a lot of practice to master. Are you trying a particular type of serve? I'd suggest starting with something like the Tomahawk or the backhand serve.

    • @xens6285
      @xens6285 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      PingSkills ill try the ones you suggested
      , the serve i was trying is i sweep to the right from under the ball

    • @pingskills
      @pingskills  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK. Let me know how it goes.

      PingSkills just tried it at my school well atleast the backspin serve cause the tomahawk serve felt impossible and i got a couple of good backspin serves where i got da point, i think ill practice more and ill have a good serve. I just want to thank you cause i think i can really pull off a good backspin serve in some time

    Should also talk about netpost material, metal vs plastic.

      Well, you usually have a green table so also a green net but as you can see there are also blue tables. So you can just decide what you take.
