    - volley inside your field (over the table) is a point for your opponent (and outside/past the table - for you)
    - ball hits the net in rally and lands normally - rally continues
    - ball hits the net on the serve and lands normally (let serve) - serve is repeated (as many times as needed)
    - ball lands on the table or hits the edge - IN
    - ball hits side of the table - OUT
    - missing the ball on the serve or catching it - point lost (after throwing the ball up, it's in play)
    - touching the table with your free hand is not allowed, although
    - touching with your elbow or leaning on it is allowed, as long as you don't move the table
    - size of the bat is not restricted, hence, you are allowed to play with any
    doubles:
    - hitting the ball in turns (out of turn results in a point loss)
    - serving is always done from your right hand box diagonally to your opponents right hand box (never from left)
    - teammates swap positions only after their serve period is finished (and not after the opponent's serve)

    I saw you talk about serving while playing doubles, maybe I missed the singles bit. I have friends who say you always have to serve from the right half, to the right half of the player on the other side (diagonally). Others say in singles you can serve wherever.

    Is it the opponent's point if say during a backhand push the ball hits my forefinger and is deflected towards the rubber for a double hit in a tiny fraction of a second? Another instance is the bat quivers during contact and hits the ball twice in the blink of an eye. The very rapid double contact can at times be discerned.

    Hello coach! I have a question. Often in the rally, the ball tends to touch the net after I hit it really hard, but it's usually still a "play on", and giving the nature of the shot, it's kinda hard for my opponent to respond, so it's often my point. He says that it's unfair and we should repeat the point because the net is probably too loose, but I know it's as streched out as possible. What should we do there? Are my points valid, or I'm the one who's wrong?
    Thank you c:

      Your friend is a child and needs to get over it. It’s what we call a lucky shot, and basic table tennis etiquette is to apologize when that happens. Same for points when the ball hits the edge. Nevertheless, it’s your point.

    Can it use hand or other body part when to hit the ball back in table tennis?

    • @pingskills
      @pingskills  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you need to have the bat in your hand. If the ball hits you hand holding the bat then that is OK.

    Thank you.
    I have a question.
    You said in serve rules that I can't contact my bat over the table.
    Is that mean if I hit the ball behind the table and contact my bat on table illegal serve

    • @pingskills
      @pingskills  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, on the serve as long as you hit the ball behind the baseline then your bat can then move over the table and in fact hit the table as long as it does not move the table.

    hey, - I know all the rules as Ive been playing off n on for 50 years, so almost skipped the vid - blimey! just found out i don't!. The out of play volley ( a past source of argument after a fast return has hit the bat beyond the line - usually left to the hitter to claim or not!)) and the 'in play' as soon as leaving the hand.( a regular thing with an old team-mate but never pulled up over it) cheers guys.
