Thank you for doing this video. I appreciate it so much. You were the first that I watched in regards to this mesh system and I appreciate the information. I just bought the Eero and now I’m waiting for it to come in.
Specifically because of your reviews, I purchased the non-pro eero (set of 3). The range of my WiFi has been greatly increased, giving me the speed I've been paying my ISP for no matter where I go in my home. I'm adding floodlight cams off of my garage and back of the house and will have no problem reaching those areas.
I was actually watching the video you did of this 7 months ago and see you had this video . Good to know thanks for the review been looking at the google mesh router for a while
Great videos. Watch this dudes whole series if you’re really indecisive. I ended up with the Eero’s, and they’re super simple. I haven’t had any issues yet.
I was looking hard at the EERO (non pro), but came across a Linksys Nighthawk Mesh WIFI 6 System at Costco. This is going to be my first entry to a mesh system so we will see how it plays out. If it does not work out I will probably go with the EERO.
Great job on your video, you seemed knowledgeable and I could tell you weren't bullshitting me. Good luck with your channel, thanks for the high quality content!
I just learned about mesh wifi a couple days ago because my kids kept complaining about their devices dropping connection even after I purchased a wifi extender a few months ago. Your series have been the most practical and thorough I've seen yet. Excellent job! I'm convinced that the eero will be the way to go, but I have a 2 story 3,500 sq ft home and I'm considering waiting for the eero pro wifi 6 to come out next week. Wondering what your thoughts are if you don't mind. Thanks!
@@camsecore Thank you so much for the quick reply. I think I'll go ahead any pre-order as well. Doesn't hurt to future proof my home... and eero seems to have a very good reputation.
Great video series, I think the only thing missing is maximum number of devices each system can handle effectively. With all the devices that everyone has people never realize that each decide affects your WiFi network.
Cam Secore That’s good to know. I am considering an Eero 3 pack for a rental house that’s about 2500sf over 4 floors and 7 college housemates. The single wifi AP that comes with spectrum 400 Mbps service is not doing the job with everyone online and doing Zoom sessions. I hope there are no issues putting the spectrum router in bridge mode. Or do you bypass it altogether and cable the modem directly to the gateway eero?
Cam Secore That may be. This is for my son away at college. Looking at the bill, I don’t see any extra charges for the router. Just $70/month for 400 Mbps service.
Thank you for helping me decide which system to choose. I just ordered the Eero Mesh Wi-Fi system. I need a system that gives me better coverage and is more consistent than what I now have in my home, which by the way is a Google product. I also need something that I can easily install and forget about. Thanks again for the help!
Received my Eero Mesh Wi-Fi system in the mail today. Just finished the setup. It was so easy and is working so much better than my last router! My nephews who are gamers are very satisfied with speed. Hopefully, no snags down the road.
Great video - still do not know what to do though - even though your testing was straight forward and relatively easy to understand for a non-techie! (watched your first video too) Have google home now due to other smart devices, but do not necessarily love that either, as components disconnect for unknown reasons. I do know I need something, as the wifi in our house is terrible (tried extender, but not helpful). Was thinking google, just to stay on one system type, but very concerned when you said the Google wifi drops - seemingly randomly. (we already have that with our current wifi router) So, keep google and through the pain of trying to install google wifi? Looks like another person went ahead with eero, even with google products. Does Eero even play well with google home, or just a separate app to control wifi versus other smart devices? So many questions!
Have enjoyed the series. I have been looking at upgrading from a single 'n' router located in the corner of our house to a mesh system. Very useful videos in helping me decide. Are there any USB ports on either of the systems? Can a switch be added to provide more ports? Not that I would need to based on the size of our house, but would a beacon work with the non-Pro Eero?
Cam Secore Adding an eero 6 extender (when they come out on Nov.2) at $90 will be a lot cheaper than adding a $150 beacon. Other than the convenience of plugging a beacon into any outlet, I don’t see the $60 difference in price.
Cam Secore Which would indicate to me the base v2 eero packs are still viable units at a reasonable price. I like the convenience of the beacon using only an electrical outlet vs needing a flat mounting surface, but not sure it’s worth $60! Btw, great info in your videos. Thanks for sharing your experiences. IMO, the best wifi will use wired access points, but the simplicity of the eero series with perfectly acceptable performance is very tempting and is likely preferable unless you have a certain amount of nerd inside. I’m almost tempted to try eero in lieu of my full unifi stack. But not quite. Yet. As I get older, I’m starting to find value in simplicity. ;)
Have you seen the specs for the upcoming eero 6 and 6 Pro? Will they be much of an improvement over the current models? My house is a 1 story rectangle 40'x60' with router at one end and some smart devices at far other end (all wifi, no ethernet wiring). Comcast 150 Mbps. I was looking to get the non-Pro eero 3-pk on sale during Prime Days. The new ones don't come out till Nov 2. Also, is the built-in Zigbee hub of the eero 6 enough of a bonus to want it (I don't currently have hubbed devices)? Thanks.
I live in a 950 square foot house thats concrete and my internet where the modem is goes about 450mbps but in the 3rd bedroom I'm lucky to get 1mbps . Would eero help? I'm not router or mesh savvy so ease to setup and sounds great. Ty for any help
Hey Cam Secor, good video I have question for you. What do you think of the new eero 6 products coming out soon? I just got google fiber and 2 free google wifi routers. mainly because I think google just trying to role them all out. Plus it just works for a mesh network. But I do want a wifi 6 router to OWN. I'm not getting charged monthly rental. I only need 1 eero router wifi 6. But wifi 6e is coming end if the yr. I do have several wifi 6 devices in my home. But I'll probably wait on a few things maybe update my 5yr old custom pc
Cam Secore Oh. Thanks for the reply. I’m concerned about the 5G radiation so my current router from frontier communications is dual band and I like to use 2.4g on my cellphone (that I frequently use) and use 5G for my laptop (which I don’t use as frequently). But it sounds like I won’t be able to do that with eero because some comments say eero automatically decides whether a device should use 2.4 or 5G. Is that true?
Cam Secore That’s a bummer. You might want to put that in your review as I’ve seen multiple comments about that limitation. And you seriously haven’t heard of electromagnetic radiation? Numerous studies have been done on the radiation effect from cellphones. Similar concerns are now being raised about 5G.
Cam Secore Thank you for sharing your opinion. I read some websites but I’m not sure whatever a router emits is enough to affect our bodies. My sister is concerned and that’s why I was asking. Thanks again
