This lovely young lady did a fantastic job explaining how to set up Eero devices. Please keep using her as she is easy to follow and understand. 5+ stars
You can extend without cables. If you have the option to plug in the second (or third) unit via Ethernet you should since Ethernet carries a stronger signal over longer distances.
With mesh systems like eero, you only need to connect one of the base units to your broadband modem. The other units can be placed anywhere in your home as long as they're connected to a wall outlet for power. When your laptop or phone or console connects to a eero device, it passes the signal along wirelessly through a back channel to the base unit connected to the modem.
Be aware, this device requires the cable modem, or your Internet connection to first be plugged to the eero device. What happens if your Internet connection is in the garage or in a closet were it will be boxed in by walls? You will have to waste one of the eero to connect in that location and then TRY and GET a DESCENT bandwidth from the mesh ones. Good luck you wont. There are many homes were the Internet connection is next to a whole house panel in the garage and you have data jacks in your home. I connect the Internet connection into this switch and all the rooms have Internet access. I can then connect all the mesh devices to the switches I am using and get a good wireless connection because all t he wireless meshed routers are connected to the same switch, including the master. You can't do that with the eero as the Internet connection has to be going thru one eero router. This means that at least 20% of the bandwidth you get in the other eeros is wasted for communicating and passing data to that center eero "Master" one which is connected to the Internet. BAD topology. I have and ASUS Mesh 6 and I can connect all the Asus meshed devices to the switches, one of them becomes the master and 100% of the bandwidth goes into the switches and into the Internet. The meshed WiFi devices also use the Internet directly. The WiFi mesh is only used to facilitate a single SSID on all the meshed WiFi devices. I had to return the eeros because of the fact they don't support all meshed routers connected to the same Internet cabled network. This can be used when you are only using Wireless connections and you want to bring the signal to locations that you don't get good signal by adding, basically, another Wireless device. Don't do this because it is cheaper to use a Wireless Repeater...much cheaper.
Why do you need a modem? I'm using my eero and that's all 🤔 is this incorrect? My WiFi coverage is mediocre but I don't get full speed to my wired devices. Any help?
The modem is responsible for sending and receiving signals from your internet provider. If you are unsure of what modem you may have, click this link bby.me/99kfx for more info. Try running an Internet speed test (06:39 in video above) to check the speed to your wired or wireless devices.
So my modem doesnt provide wireless internet access. I just need to buy a wireless router and connect it to my modem through WAN port and set the router up right?
If I do not have a Ethernet cable coming from my modem does the eero come with one? Or do I need to buy one? I have a coaxed cable from my wall into my router and all my devices in my house are run off Wi-Fi. And do I need Ethernet cables for the other devices? Or do they connect through Wi-Fi?
You can use a single eero device with just the power cord connected. If you only have one eero connecting it via Ethernet won't be necessary, but it can still be beneficial if you ever expand your network or want to optimize your connection. When you say add "devices" are you talking about more Eeros or are you talking about a Roku, a computer, etc? The unit I got is a single Eero unit. So it's physically plugged into the modem in the corner of the living room. I need it to fix a dead spot in the back bedroom. I don't see how one unit setting right next to the modem is supposed to do that. Isn't this a relay device? Or does it boost the signal somehow?
If you have one eero device then it's essentially your router. To fix dead spots you should've purchased more than one unit. For example, one to connect to your modem to act as the router and any additional eero's you might need to cover the rest of your home.
The eero whole home Wi-Fi system is not a modem. It's designed to connect to a separate broadband modem via ethernet. The eero shown here has two ethernet ports. Connecting a multiport network hub or switch to that second ethernet port is possible to give other wired devices connectivity.
To me, very confusing. Not sure if all three Eero need to be connected to the modem, or it can just plug in an outlet. Does not make sense to leave it plugged into the modem otherwise how to cover other areas of the house? I only have two Eero, still not set up yet.
@bryanlohman8627 ik u commented a year ago but ideally u want atleast 2 eeros. They will both be identical but only 1 needs to be connected via Ethernet to the router . The additional ones will be connected wirelessly to that

We were originally trying to set it up using an iPad, after watching this video, we uninstalled the app on both our iPad and iPhone, reinstalled it on just the iPhone, and started over using the phone, being extra careful to do all steps in the exact order. Worked great!
@@debbygorman9793 Surprisingly, I don't have a cell. I thought I could install it with my 8th generation iPad which is not cellular. It is probably the cell connection that was missing to complete the installation.
I had the same problem. The app setup says that I have an existing account. I do not. After 2 long calls to EERO techs, they could not find a way to reset the app from their end on my iPhone 12. One told me to borrow somebody else's phone. After reading the tiny mac address on each of the 3 units...EERO Pro 6, the last tech enabled my units from his end. The system covers my whole house and we get decent download and upload speeds even outside. I like it but for $600 it better work well.
If you're using a router as a switch and want to connect your eero, check the video at 01:14 or here's a suggested setup you can follow: 1. Connect the eero to the modem: The eero should be connected directly to your modem for the best results. This way, the eero acts as your primary router and controls the network. 2. Use your existing router as a switch: To turn your router into a switch, disable its DHCP server (so it won't assign IP addresses), then connect it to one of the LAN ports on the eero via an Ethernet cable. 3. Connecting devices: Once the router is acting as a switch, you can connect your additional devices to the other LAN ports on the router. This setup ensures that the eero is handling all routing and Wi-Fi management, while your router simply acts as a switch to extend the wired connections. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Do all three devices need an Ethernet cable? The first device registration was successful with the included first cable, but I don't have a cable for the rest of the devices.
Only the unit that you connect to your cable or DSL modem needs to be connected via Ethernet cable. The other units will only need to be plugged into the wall for power and will connect to others wirelessly.

I just purchased and with the help of tech support, set up my new eero system. My question is, do I need to disable my cable network user name and pass word and just use my new user name and pass word for the eero system....?
I added mine and ran a speed check. At the modem I had 750mbps at the eero I got 235mbps and at the other eero I got 230. Is this normal? I was expecting a little faster than 230.
Transmission speed will depend not only on your router but also on the throughput of the WiFi equipment on your laptop. Depending on which eero model you have and the laptop's capabilities, those speeds aren't untypical. It's also important to consider the actual speeds most services you'll use require. For example, most streaming video services recommend 5 Mbps for full HD content and 25 Mbps for 4K Ultra resolution.
I would like to upgrade my Eero devices. Is it possible to transfer my existing network to the new devices, or do I need to create a new network/password?
So I've just moved into a new house. And a Euro box was left here. I was going to buy one but now I don't have to. But I don't have password s ? I want to connect another 1 to it how do I do this plz ??
You'll want to do a "Hard Reset" on the eero device to remove any existing settings. Check out this support article and follow the hard reset directions: bby.me/bfb6kj Once the device is reset, download the eero app and do a new network setup.
Does anyone know what's the difference between multiple eeros or beacons? I got a 1400 Sq foot house but many walls should I get eero and 1 beacon or 2 eeros
Eero Beacons don't have ethernet ports and will generally be slightly slower than an eero 6 base unit. They're often used to cover specific dead spots or as cheaper coverage for the edges of a network. To figure out coverage, you'd want to have an eero base unit as central as possible in your home and then place units no more than 50 feet apart if possible.
It's likely that you have a device that acts both as a modem and wifi router if your equipment was provided by your broadband provider. A modem is a device that will convert the wired connection coming into the home into something the computers can use. A WiFi router is a device that allows your computers, tablets, etc to connect to that point wirelessly. Sometimes you'll have a separate modem and router, but it's also possible to buy a device that has both.
My modem only has 1 ether net cable to put in I have a router that has many ether net plug-ins but the modem only has 1 so I plugged it into the router can this work or no because it's not working
For most setups, you'll connect the Ethernet cable from your broadband modem to the port on your wireless router marked as "Internet". Your router's product manual should have more specific instructions, but if you need additional help, give our Geek Squad a call at 1-800-433-5778.
Eero can cover any home or layout....yet it displays 'Lets try moving it'.....hmmmm. I need connection in my garden summer house, where my smart TV can not even find a WiFi connection for my apts, such as as TH-cam , Netflix or even Catch up TV. My summer house is only 20ft away from my kitchen door where WiFi is not a problem. I struggle for a WiFi signal in my garden and nothing works.
You didn't mention that you need to add a ethernet wire when shown on the second eero device. You only said plug in the next one. So what are you plugging? So how do you setup the second or third eero Device? Do we need to purchase a ethernet cord if not prewired? If a person wants to use it in a converted basement that resembles living room or a man cave how do we get connected in details please.
Really expensive when compared to one router with good range. TDS put one in my home, and it only really works in the room it is in. If I want to extend it I need to spend hundreds of dollars more for more devices. So it might work well, but is a far more expensive option to do the same job.
The ethernet cable that connects the wireless router to your broadband modem will always need to be connected. The individual eero nodes can talk to each other wirelessly, but if your home is pre-wired with an ethernet network, the additional nodes can remain connected to that for faster speeds.
The eero is a mesh Wi-Fi system that would replace your existing router. You can find more info on mesh Wi-Fi and other home Wi-Fi networking tips here: bby.me/sc4shv.

It appears you may have received a special package from your internet service provider that includes the eero mesh Wi-Fi system and a modem to which one of your eero units will connect. I have a question. The young lady that convinced me to purchase the Mesh Eero 6 Wifi System instead of a regular extender said that one of the three would replace our Router, I’ve been very busy because of work and I had to leave town on short notice, so I told my wife to connect it, and she said that she had to connect it to the Router. She connected it to one of the four Ethernet connections on the router, she says both our Modem and Router only have one Internet connection plug. She says it’s working, but I bought it because I thought we would save money on our internet bill, no longer needing their Router. Did my wife install it wrong?
Oh, sorry Best Buy, I forgot to say, and she said the Modem only has an Internet Connection Plug-in, that it does not have Ethernet Connections. Only our Router has the 4 Ethernet Plug-in Connections..
This system should be capable of a maximum of 1000 megabits per second wires speed and 2.2 gigabits per second Wi-Fi speed. You can learn more here bby.me/2wmi8i about the speeds of this great mesh Wi-Fi system.
On my current router, before I go through all this "just simple" set up: I have an ethernet cable coming out of the modem to the router. Fine. I have an ethernet cable coming out of the smart tv into the router; great. I have an ethernet cable coming out of the cable box to the router. Uh Oh. Now what? Three ethernet cables, two slots.
All of these videos leave out steps. Every video I’ve seen says, “It’s time to select your location.” What do you think that means? You were just instructed to connect a 6 foot long ethernet cable!
As shown on the app, you'll be asked which location to mark that eero device as being in. For example, "living room", "bedroom", "office" or a custom name. As most eero setups will have more than one node located in separate rooms this allows you to mark which one goes where so you can easily distinguish them in the app.
I purchased a eero pro 6 wi fi and when i tried to set it up by following the youtube instructions. I tried at least a dozen time and could not get the wi fi to connect. First of it would not let me set up a different account, so I had to use my Amazon Account. After following the video instructions carefully it kept telling me there was an error. I was very disappointed. As i found out the eero app. does NOT work with a Moto G Power, what more a I drove to Best Buy to return it, the Moto G Power kept stopped working off and on in my Lexus. I pulled over and deleated the app and there was no more problem. Your company needs to do more testing before you put the app on the market. Needless to say I will be buying a different brand of mess router. Too Bad, Bob
So it seems the Eeros have to remain connected to the modem/router in order to broadcast a signal, which seems pretty pointless. The second I move my Eero to a designated room, the light turns red - it ONLY works if it's plugged into my router. This is worthless.
It sounds like you're looking to use the eero as a range extender for an existing router. The eero system is designed to have more than one eero device. At least one eero will need to act as a central station, connected to your broadband modem. From there, you can place the other eero devices anywhere in the house and they will connect with each other and then back to that central station. As the eero's designed to replace any existing routers, you'll probably want to look at range extenders at bby.me/fc7nba if you have a modem and router built into a single box and you only want one additional device to work with that existing router.
@@BestBuy I see, well that's very informative. Thankfully, I didn't buy these things, they just came with our home monitoring system. So if I don't use them, it's ok. Thanks for the response.

To figure out coverage, you'd want to have an eero base unit as central as possible in your home and then place units no more than 50 feet apart if possible.
does the system work with just one?
A single eero node will work like a regular router. To take advantage of the expanded coverage, you'll want at least two or more nodes.
I don't have a modem, it's directly on the wall, that's why it doesn't work for me.?? 😓😓can someone answer a moden is necessary?
It's likely that you have a device that acts both as a modem and wifi router if your equipment was provided by your broadband provider. A modem is a device that will convert the wired connection coming into the home into something the computers can use. A WiFi router is a device that allows your computers, tablets, etc to connect to that point wirelessly. Sometimes you'll have a separate modem and router, but it's also possible to buy a device that has both.
I want to connect my android streaming box. How do I do that.
Can I connect a Google home speaker to this?
Yes, mesh networks will work with any Wi-Fi-compatible device.
I have Verizon Fios are there any different steps?
The second and third eero devices connect wirelessly. Doesn’t sound real but you just plug the power cord in and the app and device does the work.
@@dwightpayne4264 Thanks I was confused on this too
Is the eero even good?
Love Eero systems!
30gbp for modem plus 33 for eero.
Really expensive when compared to one router with good range. TDS put one in my home, and it only really works in the room it is in. If I want to extend it I need to spend hundreds of dollars more for more devices. So it might work well, but is a far more expensive option to do the same job.
It’s mesh
Would this work good for my console?
Yes, mesh networks like eero are a great option to fill any home with wireless connectivity and work with any device from consoles to computers.
Do you need the ethernet connected all the time?
The ethernet cable that connects the wireless router to your broadband modem will always need to be connected. The individual eero nodes can talk to each other wirelessly, but if your home is pre-wired with an ethernet network, the additional nodes can remain connected to that for faster speeds.
Why is it connecting me to the main one when that’s the farthest away? I have a hub right in my room and none of my devices connect to it
We have one item that we were told needed to be connected as a guest user. Can you explain how to do this?
Ujm if hnr CD mgmgbpigdrdb nnob
Can I still use my cox wifi for other devices?
i thought these fed of the main router in the house and only needed to be plugged in
no other hookups
The eero is a mesh Wi-Fi system that would replace your existing router. You can find more info on mesh Wi-Fi and other home Wi-Fi networking tips here: bby.me/sc4shv.
@@BestBuy I have a tower through eastlink and the eeros came with the package
I was to believe these were wifi extenders to be plugged into the wall socket at a farther point of the tower to maximize wifi connection
Even to extend a signal far into the backyard
It appears you may have received a special package from your internet service provider that includes the eero mesh Wi-Fi system and a modem to which one of your eero units will connect. The eero system is its own Wi-Fi system-not to be confused with Wi-Fi extenders-that can also be used with other internet services.
dont have cellular service how can i by pass that
Double NAT then once set up unplug the other router. I can't seem to get connected at all as my provider is blocking it...
The first thing you should explain is that eero uses you current ISP... TOOK ME AGES TO WORK THAT OUT EVEN AFTER DOING SEARCHES FOR ASKING WHAT IS ERRO.. WTF..
Having everything you'll need to set up a whole home network is important. Check out our list of ite at 0:51, which does list a cable or DSL broadband modem depending on your Internet service provider.
Also check out 1:55 where we show the process of connecting your new eero router to your existing broadband modem.
What if my router is a modem too?
I spoke with eero technical support and they were able to guide me through the steps when using an existing combination router/modem
My eero just pulses blue forever even though it finished setup in the app
Did you ever get your Eero to work properly?
Connected Eero to Modem, but the App is stuck at "looking for eero devices' even though the Eero itself is solid blue which means its connected, but App never progresses further. Please help
Send an email with details to support@eero.com for help specific to your setup.
I can’t get past solid white no matter how many times I’ve rebooted.
If your computer isn't booting properly, we recommend bringing it in for a check-up with the Geek Squad at your local Best Buy. Save time by scheduling a visit at bby.me/6pnw2p.
Gosh I keep looking at her Best Buy logo....
eero doesnt allow to me force my devices to 5g, even after turning on band steering
Can i instal nordvpn to the eero device?
Eero does have VPN support. Learn more at bby.me/zphhfx.
Mine created a whole other Wi-Fi same name but with lowercase letters
Is this Wi-Fi router fast?!
This system should be capable of a maximum of 1000 megabits per second wires speed and 2.2 gigabits per second Wi-Fi speed. You can learn more here bby.me/2wmi8i about the speeds of this great mesh Wi-Fi system.
This does NOT help. Now it would help if you actually showed a picture of what is the modem

If I have more than one eero device in my home is there anyway to assign certain electronic devices to a specific eero?
Assigning devices to a specific eero node is not currently a feature provided by the manufacturer.
Where does the Ethernet cable
For the second device come from?
If the device you're looking to connect to your wireless router did not come with an Ethernet cable, you can purchase one at bby.me/attvw3.
All of these videos leave out steps. Every video I’ve seen says, “It’s time to select your location.”
What do you think that means?
Too Bad, Bob
i can’t add my beacon
Though video is good, why this background noise? Too annoying...
You don't even mention that one port is a 1GB port and the other is a 2.5 GB port.
This 2020 video features the eero Pro 6 mesh WiFi router which includes two 1Gbps ethernet ports. The eero Pro 6E mesh router released in 2022 looks similar, but includes the 2.5 Gbps ethernet port you mentioned. We appreciate you calling out that other router's feature difference. For most common setups, the setup is general similar.
@@BestBuy gotcha. I just got the 6E. When I hook modem to eero 2.5 port it goes red but works in 1 gb port. Any ideas?
Have you checked what the maximum ethernet speed that the modem supports on its end?
@@BestBuy yea it’s a 2 gb modem. It’s making me angry lol. Using a cat 7 as well

Wifi trash
Don’t get rid of my stuff
running a cable through the whole house defeats the purpose.
{{screenName}} Only one of the eero nodes needs to be connected to the broadband modem via wired ethernet cable. The other nodes will connect to each other wirelessly, creating a Wi-Fi mesh network.
The very loud titally unnecessary music mutes the vpice. Can not hear this
Worst instructions video ever. She is literally just telling us: Connect your Eero and then follow the instructions on the app for 8 straight minutes...
She gorgeous
This would be such a helpful video if it didn't have the annoying background music. It serves no purpose, why is it there?!

we just bought one and it sucks dont buy it
Vague and not very good instructions... what if you have blue light and it still won't see it?? dam.. looks like I'll have to go to a 3rd party video just to find the RIGHT WAY to do this.... and what about DUAL BAND ???? !!!!!!!
