  • See why this Daytona is worth getting. Recently, I acquired a Rolex Daytona 116509 White Gold. Reasons why the Daytona is worth having in a watch collection and what to look out for when buying it.

    I’m not crazy about Rolex and find people who really like Rolex sometimes unpleasant, but this video seems really genuine and I really enjoyed it.

      Thanks for the comment. I want to experience all types of watches and give people "Opinions" instead of textbook answers even though these opinions could be conflicting or even wrong. It's all part of enjoying the process of watch collecting. Glad you enjoyed it 😊

    I wish they would bring back the racing dial, that grey is absolutely beautiful, 👍🏻👍🏻

    I'm considering trading my rose gold Daytona with the chocolate racing dial, for a newer (but more "average") rose gold with black dial.
    I honestly love them both, but I do wonder, do you think The rose gold racing dial which is discontinued will be more valuable down the line or was it fairly common to the point that I won't really affect its value in the future?

      There is a market for both and I don't think there will be much difference in the price. I got this one because the Gold whether Rose to white gold just seems a better deal than the Steel one. Some will like the white gold since it has a stealth look and understated but some will like the Rose Gold for showing that it is Gold. I know friends who like both. Currently at the current price I think it's a bargain and there will be opportunity to slowly get back to the higher prices again.

    For me the dial is nicer without the numbers but cheers enjoy

      It's all very personal the look and feel. If you enjoy and love it without the numbers, it is also very good.

    Nice rare dial 👍, bezel seems over polished

    Do you like white gold Daytona more than yellow gold and rose gold and why? Thank you.

    • @watchcollector4293
      @watchcollector4293  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I had the money I'd like the white gold, then yellow gold then rose. I chose white since it's not too in your face but the yellow gold is now becoming the trend over the rose gold.

      @@watchcollector4293 Daytona is a sports watch and the most suitable colour is silver. If one likes precious metal, it has to be either white gold or platinum. Once you have worn a precious metal watch, you cannot return to stainless steel. It just feels different besides the weight. It is hard to describe in words what the difference is. One needs to try it on himself to know.

      @@eugenejohnson7755 Very true, especially since the price difference is not too big. SS just doesn't feel right after Platinum or white gold.

    This watch is over polished, lugs are too rounded

    your watch should sit above your wrist bone

    • @watchcollector4293
      @watchcollector4293  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good discussion topic on the etiquette of the position of the watch. Whilst there are benefits of wearing above the wrist bone, I find that, that in reality, with a heavier watch it will slip down to the end of the wrist because I don't want it too tight leaving bracelet marks on the wrist but if too loose it will slip down to the end above the bone. Whilst there are no hard, fast rules, as much as I want the watch to stay above the bone over time it will slide down when walking hence it's better with an alligator strap instead of the smoother bracelet to hold it's position. The other reason I don't mind to wear it lower is that the normally I am in shirt and suit. To look at the time I have to flex and pull my shirt cuff up and it makes me appear like I am flashing my watch to others;) As you know the stereotype reputation of wearing a Rolex may not always be too good, with this added action I am afraid to bring too much attention to myself as the office twat:) Therefore in meetings if I have my arms on the table, I can discretely lever my shirt cuff over the edge of the dial to see the time without attracting too much attention to myself and my watch:) I hope you understand but of course you are correct on the etiquette and the benefits of wearing it above the wrist bone. But in the case of the video I should have pulled it up in a better position for the camera but my sleeve will need to be pulled up as well. In this case I am purely lazy and I only normally do 1 take without editing hence all the errors.
