      You might want to consider fatter grips.
      Reduces strain on the hands and fingers.

      @DaveCoulter-qi7yp you are right. I had fat grips for the 1st few months when I started and it was much easier..no finger pain. I switched back to normal size because I thought that if I get used to playing just with oversize grips, I won't be able to play with normal grips if I have to rent clubs when traveling

    15:42 Tom, I’ve got to tell you, that I’ve been watching your stuff occasionally for the last couple years. I haven’t had time to practice due to home renovations, working after work, blah blah. I’ve been lost in my 20+ year golf league this year. Going from a usual 2-3 handicap for 9 holes to a 9…I’m 54 and have been golfing for 30 years, relying mostly on athleticism to get me through, breaking 80 here and there and probably averaging 84. I had committed to a golf trip with some buddies back in the winter. We were playing 54 holes in 2 days. I was 100, 92, 100, for the weekend on some tough RTJ designed courses. One of my playing partners says at the end of the 54 holes, you are bending your elbow at the top and going to far back. We were in competition with each other, hence him telling me 54 holes in…To get to the point, I happen to watch one video of yours, on tilt. With that knowledge and some of your earlier tips, I shot 36 in league that week, with zero practice! Granted I can adapt quicker than most from experience, but I’ve gone from that 9 handicap back to a 3 in 3 weeks. 36, 37, 39. It simplified the s… out of my swing and I’m having a lot of fun beating the crap out of my opponents. Dude thanks for real. It’s made golf fun again this year, when I was not having a good time out there. Your instruction is the most relatable that I’ve ever come across. When I get more time I’m in on the paid lessons.

    I'm a 65 year old man who has been to the range 3 times and played 1 since watching SagutoGolf (Tom) and I can tell you that the contact is indeed "crispy", ball flight medium/high and predictable. Center club contact and low point have made distances more consistent. I worked very hard on keeping my weight forward without a shift rearward and am quite pleased with the results so far. I will continue to work at this swing and expect to only get greater improvement. A little background my handicap is 13 My avg. drive is 225 7 iron carry is 145-152 Crispy, and gap wedge 115. Typical course distance is 6200 yards at the white tees. Thanks Tom I appreciate your videos and thanks for helping 1000's of golfers.

      PS: By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them.
      If you've not already joined, have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level instruction, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet. And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my newly updated FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that is delivering the referenced results.

I hope you'll give the school some thought.

      My pleasure, Robert! I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice!
      By the way, you may be interested to know that the swing system I teach is a proven body-friendly method. I can vouch for that through my own personal experience as a golfer who previously experienced back pain, and It is further validated by the fact that a significant percentage of my students and online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      For example, the outward flaring of both feet 10-20 degrees in our setup facilitates the proper amount of body-friendly, free-flowing hip turn back and through. This is a major power source, and it also keeps the club traveling on the correct path. If you were to square your feet so that they were perpendicular to the target line, then your hips would be impeded from turning sufficiently in the backswing (which would then inhibit the shoulders from executing a full and effortless turn), and from releasing properly in the downswing to propel the club through the zone. Restricting this action can cause a variety of path issues and/or also place strain on the lower back, lead knee, and the hip joints as the hips will "want" to move laterally and turn through into the finish but will be fighting the body in the process.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. I appreciate that and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!!
      If are relatively early in the process then you are likely still ingraining your "feels" and thinking mechanical thoughts. When you develop sufficient confidence in the motion that you are comfortable "giving up control", you'll be able to just trust it and let it fly. At that point you'll have made that giant leap from playing "golf swing" to playing target-focused golf, and by then you should be experiencing noticeable improvements in consistency and distance through the bag.
      By the way, if you'd really like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider my online school. Okay, so I just watched your shoulder turn down video this weekend. Today I tried my best to copy, and fit it into my routine. I had to slow way down, which worked. My usual good drive 225 yds or less. Today that was my minimum. I hit one 255 yds. Iron play was better, but still needs work. I'm thrilled. I'm 72, 12 handicap, don't realize how lucky I've been. I am making better contact with my irons. I will be fighting old habit issues. But am looking forward to a much better game. Where were you 50 years ago??? Lol, thanks.

      PS: With regard to making up for lost time, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them.
As you are now coming to understand, one does not need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.

    Alright, Tom. here's the deal. Since adopting your swing method last year, my handicap has gone from 21 to 14.
    Yesterday, after not golfing for over a month (travel, dog surgery, busy life), I went out and shot an 84. 39-45. My 2nd lowest score this year and before that, the only time I broke 80 was when I was golfing 27 holes a day, 7 days a week. That's not sustainable as an adult. This works. Plain and simple.
    Thanks for being my golf sensei. It's so much more fun to go out when you're throwing darts at the green and not hitting your second shot out of the woods. I didn't lose a ball all day, which is pretty rare on a course that has water and excessive amounts of wooded areas.
    Seriously, you're the man.

      Same as me brother. I used to buy the shank balls online until I realized I'm losing far fewer balls. Now I just buy the balls that fit my game and don't really worry about the cost. I started with Oncore Elixr and now play Oncore VeroX1. To me, the best ball out there, very similar to TM TP5.

    I say this with every new video, but you are the best golf teacher I have ever seen. And so young too! That tee in the armpit drill was a great way to train your body for a good swing plane. After practice, I took it onto the course and hit all my irons past the distance I was aiming. oops. No prob. I'll happily make that adjustment. I was hitting my 7 iron as far as I hit it when I was in my 20's. Add the lesson above to my practice regimen and I think I am going to really improve! You are 1000% right. Sweet spot contact is the way to go. Thanks again sir!!

    Been on Tom's golf school website but also have kept watching all his youtube videos. In 4 weeks my swing has completely changed from a instructor made mess over to stack and tilt and the final piece of the puzzle for me was the backswing feeling which i now have on repeat. The feel is to go "down" with the shoulders over the front leg (angled slightly inwards to get the draw). I originally thought the problem was in the downswing but it was actually the backswing causing the downswing inconsistency along with some muscle soreness (No pain now!). Driver also one of the easiest clubs to hit an it feels like minimal effort for a straight 280y drive. Along with his putting technique i can now have my two nicknames by friends retired (Lumber-jack and 3 putt rando)

    This is it, so simple yet I often think of everything thing but weight forward and sometimes justify a tiny sway to the right.. like how another local pro in lesson last year said I should, but I politely said I was 'not ready for that yet (to keep to your instruction). Whenever I do the wt left and tilt at the range, the shots are, seemingly to me, perfect and wows. Why in the heck can I not stick with that on the course.. By the 9th hole.. maybe. Muscle memory helps as I've returned to just swinging at home even without club to get this wt forward as this aspect seems fundamental to consistent great shots! Thanks for this great reminder video and sorry for long msg.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The notion of a “weight” shift in the golf swing is one of the greatest fallacies ever taught, Robin, has led many an amateur golfer into the vast abyss of chronic inconsistency and frustration. In fact, here is Jack Nicklaus on weight shift: "I don't believe in a lateral shift," says Nicklaus. "Of course not. I believe in staying on the ball." Asked what he thinks about teachers who advocate a weight shift, he answers, "They don't know how to play."
      Now, there is certainly an allowance for a transfer of “pressure” into the trail side. After all, we are moving the mass of the arms and club back and around us during the takeaway and backswing. Some like to sense the dynamic pressure shifts; others prefer the feel of a gradual increasing of weight load into the lead leg from the start. However, in either scenario the key here is that we do not allow our mass - and thus our swing center and low point - to drift back at any point. In this swing system we start with our weight forward (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs), gradually add more forward weight load into the transition (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful motion.
      Anyway, I am glad to learn of your ball striking improvement, and I would very much like to see this become a permanent thing that will stand up for entire rounds. To this end, if you have not already joined have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? Love the staying centered advice and no sway advice. It has definitely made my contact more reliable and solid 👍
    The only thing that doesn't work for me is the advice of going deeper in a circular motion in the backswing. To me that's a recipe for getting the club too far behind, then coming too far from the inside on the downswing and getting stuck at impact, leading to pull hooks!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm very glad to learn of your improvement - nice job!! 💪💪
      I understand your concern. To further clarify, the swing is a tilted circle (or arc, if we wish to get technical), the circumference of which extends from the ball to above and behind our shoulders. As such, if we are going to remain on that circle/arc it requires the hands and club to take a slightly inward path - not a disconnected handsy snatch or roll to the inside (which can result in getting stuck, hooking, etc.) - just a natural tracing of the outer rim or circumference. The feeling of "straight back" can easily pull the golfer off of that preestablished geometry right from the start, and from there precise compensatory actions are necessary if there is any hope of returning the clubface to the ball on the proper path time after time. So rather than have to rely on "dropping it in the slot" the exact amount each and every swing, why not just put in the slot from the start and just keep it there?!
      We create depth in this swing, and that enables us to fully engage the shoulders and harness the tremendous power of swinging on an inclined arc courtesy of the seemingly effortless force known as "angular momentum" - where physics and geometry collide.
      While there is certainly other content on my channel that addresses this topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

    Yes, totally agree. The transfer of weight though the ball is the single biggest swing destroyer for 99% of golfers. The only ones who get it right become elite players or Pro’s. Golf tuition is based on the Proffesionsl golf swing that 99% of players can’t achieve!
    It’s madness! What your teaching in this video is priceless.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately, Glenn, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎
      Indeed, the notion of a “weight” shift in the golf swing has led many an amateur golfer into the vast abyss of chronic inconsistency and frustration.
And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful motion.
      As for those elite players and pros, the body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system I teach is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. We can watch any Tour event on TV and we'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.
      Thousands of folks across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of learning this swing system through my online school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Compare and contrast that with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within that realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).
      Thanks for your kind and validating remarks, and keep up the great work!!

    After hearing you mention changing ball positions I can hit a fade too! Once you are set up correctly, this swing takes place without much thought. If you’ve been playing for a while, you’ll need to change the “traditional takeaway”. Taking the clubhead inside versus down the line IS still weird and the hardest habit to break…..for me anyway. Weight forward and flared feet will get you on the right path even with a traditional swing. Keeping arms extended using the inside takeaway and especially extending arms through the ball, helps me turn my shoulders…..and flush it! I am BOMBING it too, BTW!

      AWESOME! Yes - in this swing system we can carve it in either direction and flight it high or low with just some minor setup tweaks and the same swing. Excellent job figuring that out!

      - th-cam.com/video/cIELupUJMcA/w-d-xo.html
      In this swing system it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html. Excellent! I am very glad to know that the weight-forward component performed well for you; nice job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!
      With regard to this erroneous notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. It's not something that even the vast majority of pros are trying to consciously manufacture during the split second that the clubhead is traveling a distance of approximately 6' from parallel to parallel at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The forearms will naturally "trade places" from pre- to post-impact, but this should not be construed as a contrived move (although many a casual observer has gone down that rabbit hole). There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration.
      While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

    Thanks!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks, but there's really no mystery to this!
      I assure you that one does not need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past!

    I believe in your system. It works pretty darn well. One issue is when on uneven surfaces, lead leg down hill lie, (most difficult), down hill/side hill lie, very difficult. I need some help with those scenarios using this system. Again, middle of the fairway...not a problem.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm very glad to know that my instruction content for this fantastic swing system is performing well for you, Dante!!
      Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies are on my to-do list for online school lesson content. Having said that, the keys to playing a shot when the ball is below your feet are in 1) adjusting your setup to properly orient yourself to the ball (since it will be closer to you, your upper body will be angled more towards the ground than on a standard shot), 2) balancing yourself as you may need to feel your weight more towards the heels of your feet depending on the severity of the slope, 3) taking an extra club or two than you normally would from the given distance, and 4) aligning yourself with the expectation that the ball will fade. Once you are oriented, balanced, and properly aligned, you are ready to execute the swing as taught. Bump your hips forward an inch as you typically would so your weight favors the front side 55-60%, and when you take it back make sure that your weight stays forward and your shoulders do not flatten out as they turn, as they will have a tendency to do so due to their preset steeper orientation. In fact, a good thought for this shot is to keep the chest pointing down as you turn, since mishits from this type of lie are oftentimes a result of the golfer coming out of his or her tilt in the backswing.
      Conversely, a ball above your feet will necessitate having your upper body oriented for a less steep shoulder turn that allows the club to work more around the body, weight perhaps favoring the balls of the feet depending on slope severity, and allowing for a drawing ball flight. You'll likely need to choke down on the club a bit, and for this reason plus the curvature you may also want to club up for this shot, bearing in mind that the ball may tend to roll out more upon landing due to the draw spin. Once again, after making these adjustments you'll want to execute the swing motions as taught - weight forward, tilt/turn/extend, hands in, keeping your swing center intact.
      The short answer with regard to uphill and downhill lies is to 1) Match your shoulders to the angle of the slope, 2) Widen your stance a bit for stability, 3) Understand that an uphill slope is going to add loft whereas a downhill slope will reduce loft and produce more runout, so adjust your club selection accordingly, 4) Make a practice swing next to the ball to determine your swing's low point on that particular slope, and then address the ball so that the low point is just ahead of it, 5) Anticipate the potential for more draw spin on uphill lies and fade spin on downhill lies depending on the severity of the slope, and align accordingly, and 6) Do your best to keep your center intact as you swing since any swaying will shift your low point and cause inconsistent results.
      I hope that helps. Keep up the great work!

    Hey Tom, your videos have completely changed my golf game for the better! One question out of curiosity, do you hit down on the ball with the driver or do you hit up on it? And also just for fun what degree is your driver set at? Thanks for all the great content!

      @SagutoGolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Awesome! I sincerely appreciate your kind words and I am very glad the instruction on my channel has benefited your game!!
      My driver is 9 degrees.
      I am aware that many folks out there believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder/armpit), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact.
      So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or some of those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws )
      For these reasons I do not advocate trying to hit up on the ball, and efforts to do so due to erroneous advice have caused many an amateur significant issues with their driver.
      Thanks for sharing your dramatic improvement and keep up the great work!!

    Hey Tom, I've been following your tips and seeing progress. I'd love it if you could do a video on ball position and feet position for all irons and driver. Also, could you include tips on how much to bend your back and weight distribution for driver vs. irons? Thanks, Tom, love your content!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The widest stance is with the driver, where the insides of the heels are shoulder-width apart. The stance gets incrementally narrower as the clubs get shorter. For our stock setup the hand position remains the same with all clubs - even with the inside of the lead heel. And while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver. From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape.
      As for hand position, it remains consistent - even with the inside of your lead thigh - no matter which club you are hitting. Additionally, the lead arm and club shaft should form a straight line from the face-on view, giving your setup a lowercase "y" look.
      Really, though, the level of detail you seek is best found in the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school, and it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. That's where - in addition to focused lessons and drills that take you through the entire motion step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying and resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise as well as all my short game instruction, plus advanced level courses and much more.
      Also, through the school you would still have access to the KFC Club channel member videos, so if you were to enroll there would be no need to maintain both memberships.

    Reminds me of Aaron Badley. A lot people thought those guys were crazy. Stack n tilt was a gem, Rory Sabatini. There were so many but Woods made it difficult for any of those guys to shine but the method is really great for the introduction to the game.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Actually, James, fast-forward to the Tiger who captured the 2018 Tour Championship and 2019 Masters and you will see a swing that has incorporated many of the core elements of Stack and Tilt. He destroyed his body with his old swing and had numerous back and knee surgeries as a result, yet was able to stage such a dramatic comeback without any sacrifice of distance, accuracy, or consistency. Even today with a shattered right leg from that horrific car accident he is still able to compete at the game's highest level (when he chooses to do so...😎).
      This body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.
      So yes - Stack and Tilt still is a gem for golfers of all experience and ability levels, and countless thousands of folks across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of learning the system through my online school: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Compare and contrast that with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).
      Thanks for your message and support!

This is one reason why I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, if this type of wrist action serves you well then there is no issue in doing it.
      Thanks for your message and keep up the great work!!

    Hi Tom,

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Proper execution of the weight forward component begins with setting up correctly. We address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship.
      And while there is certainly plenty of content on my channel that addresses the weight-forward topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

    I'm grinding this swing and in the last month have dropped 4 shots off my handicap!! One thing though, for consistency, it looks like you position the ball about a club head inside your lead heal, then shift your body (weight) so your torso has the ball in the center. Is this about correct?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fantastic! I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!!
      We first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective on ball position. That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs).
      At setup we address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship.
      Thanks for sharing your dramatic improvement and keep up the great work!! 💪💪

    O had to leave a comment today as I never do and watched all Tom’s videos for 3 years. I have moved to stack and tilt just the last 4 weeks and ashamed to admit I have watched Tom’s videos for 3 years and been playing 3 summers (live in Canada Alberta so 5months of golf per year at best so I don’t have all the time to practise year round and could not care for simulator golf) The last 4 weeks I have played 7 rounds including 20-30 mins driving range before the round that’s it that’s all the golf I have I played. All rounds I shot between 80 best and 88 worst and even these scores where due to bad putting and not enough practise 60 yards and in I left many shots out there so much more potential but not due to full swing consistency. I practise 20 mins before the round and then play the round and usually only twice a week that’s all the time I have for golf right now. Reason I’m trying stack and tilt is because of Tom’s videos 100 percent and the fact of being able to just play decent when you have the time and not commit life to golf everyday of the week. it just makes sense to me and he makes it so simple also the fact is for a few good reasons. One any good player stacks and tilts without maybe using those words or thinking of that anyway for 3/4 of the shots in golf, so why have a different swing for 1/4 of your game. Examples- wedge shots 150 and in weight on left side keep it there turn around it quiet hands. (This is from Wesley Bryans own mouth one of the best wedge players in the world while he was consistently competing and John rahm himself said this in many interviews) chipping/pitching, weight forward keep it there stay connected turn around it contact is key (Dan grieves best short game coach in the world says this over and over every video) Shots into the wind/avoiding trees or keeping it low in general - weight forward keep it forward ball then divot is key (words from Tommy Fleetwood and tiger woods). All this being said then we decide as an amateur to then turn around and have a different swing for those other maybe 15-20 shots a round max where we going to lift and chop or rely on timing lol why? Thanks Tom appreciate the content

      That is OUTSTANDING, Scott!! I’m very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. 💪💪
      In actuality, the weight-forward component applies throughout the bag, and this does not cause any issues with regard to distance or accuracy. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html As such, I have no idea why anyone would even consider deploying a different swing for certain clubs!
      Now, I am aware that many folks out there believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver.
      Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and keep up the fantastic work!!
      Tom

      With regard to your question, allow me to answer it this way: A significant percentage of my online school members - both male and female - are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Good idea would just be to not go as far back during backswing. Just a nice & easy swing around the body. You can still do the rotation he stresses, just not as far. Kind of annoying that the dude just promotes his school in every response. Not very personable. Great teacher though! One of the best.

  • @DASH1ful
    @DASH1ful 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Yes, I saw someone working on getting into the "that is painful" arms extended position, today; and, it was just as painful to watch, I can assure you. All he did was build tension into his swing. But, when you demonstrate the inside movement with just your right you move your arm back on the inside as much as you can. And, of course, the right arm cannot flex when it makes any such independent movement, as you would expect. However, if you hold the club with your left hand and swing back with your left arm as you swing your right arm back as far on the inside as you can, the movement of your left arm and left chest etc. actually makes the arm flex and it gives the upper part of the right arm a gorilla glue connection with the right side, with the elbow pointing straight down. This is a great drill to help a player to make a full turn in the backswing. It probably wouldn't make any difference to you, as you turn to the max; but, it has certainly made a big difference to me.

      @@SagutoGolf That's great Tom. You clearly have been able to ingrain the turn into your swing hitting shots. For someone like me, though, the drill really makes the body turn; and, helps to free up the swing. I'm, also, working on turning the toe of the club down, in the transition, by pressing the index finger side of my left hand against my right hand, in the start of my downswing. This has cured my hook. I use the interlocking grip; and, this seems to open up a slight gap between the club and my left index finger towards the top of my backswing; but, when I fuse my hands together, in the start of my downswing, it actually closes the gap to the point that my left index finger applies pressure on the club- as Earnest Jones said it should. The actual closing of the gap, between my index finger and club, seems to enable me to create lag and turn the toe of the club down, in the transition. It is very notable that Bobby Jones turned the toe down in the transition. And, I thought to myself that if that does not cure my hook nothing will. And, thankfully it did.

      One of the many great things about this system is that we can move it left or right and flight it high or low with the same swing and just some simple setup adjustments. As an example, here is a shot shaping demonstration featuring a fellow teaching pro when we were attending Stack and Tilt Instructor Camp together in Miami: th-cam.com/video/IcmKxfLz9EM/w-d-xo.html. Beyond this, I have advanced level content on shot shaping and controlling ball flight in the online school.

      And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner.
      Thanks - I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction!

    I notice things like that too. Like Scotty's left foot leaving the ground. I have to remind myself that these dudes are elite athletes. I'm a ham 'n egger trying to break 80...

      So if his left foot is off the ground, his weight would be on his right side

      Excellent question!
      First of all - yes: elite athletes who took years of total dedication to hone their craft and get their swings dialed in to the extent they have.
      Beyond that, the notion of a “weight” shift in the golf swing has led many an amateur golfer into the vast abyss of chronic inconsistency and frustration. In fact, here is Jack Nicklaus on weight shift: "I don't believe in a lateral shift," says Nicklaus. "Of course not. I believe in staying on the ball." Asked what he thinks about teachers who advocate a weight shift, he answers, "They don't know how to play."
      Now, there is certainly an allowance for a transfer of “pressure” into the trail side, and that is what we are observing in Scotty's swing and plenty of others. The counterbalancing of the action of pressure moving rearward while the tailbone moves targetward - thereby preserving the swing center - can have the effect of pulling the lead heel off the ground. As such, this reactionary consequence is perfectly acceptable within the system I teach.
      While there are certainly plenty of videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews
