That was a very nice thing you said about something that you don't have a use for. Take not people, you don't have to have a need for something in order for it to be in the very least .....Neat.
Poor man's fidget tip: Pick up 4 or 5 hematite magnets. Satisfying click-clacks while you shuffle them around each other. You can get a bunch for just a few bucks.
I knew about the existence of these, but I never stoped to think about it. Until fell in a rabbit hole thanks to the yt pl and noticed I that like playing with my lighter and cigarretes while I concentrate the same way. Now I am looking to get some of these to test. Thanks for the video.
Nice video! I've never bought a fidget toy, but I find myself sometimes fiddling with Clip Click pens (push the top in to deploy, push the clip in to retract) as well my Victorinox knives -- toggling the non-blades between halfway open and fully open with my thumb and forefinger. That might be a fun video - a Victorinox tool Fidget Tier List!
Those look very nice. Out of all of them, I have the ONO roller. It’s very smooth in use and is GREAT for working out cramps in your hands if you’ve been using them for a long time. Some other items I use as fidgets: a pack of waterproof cards, spinner rings, beaded jewelry, and small ratchet wrenches. Magnetic fidgets and the usual spinners just don’t appeal to me for some reason.
This video was more of an eye-opener, than anything I would actually buy, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I actually have a cheap knock-off of your favourite, the 'poker slider'. I think it cost me around £7.
Cracking video, as always. Fun fact, if you are a touch more gentle with the haptic coin (the milk bottle top one) you can get the magnets to snap and make a much more satisfying audible sound. I have a cheap knock off one (because I lose things) and it’s almost always in my pocket - quieter fidget at work, loud snappy fidget everywhere else.
I have a regular sized ring that I can spin around my finger while also wearing it casually. It's really nice when I have to talk with people for a long time and makes me look more invested than if I was fidgeting with a pen or folding paper haha. Bought it at a clothing store for like 8 euros
As a severe adhd stimmer, i can attest to fidget items improving mental clarity. But i find that the item in question needs to have practical utility and see regular use toward completing tasks throughout the day. My silent clicking pen has been my go to
the idea of them sounds good to use in this case if you're the one using them, but if you're in a room where someone else is clicking away with one... hoooo boy does it boil your blood lol
Hi Jon, another Jon here who happens to really enjoy your videos! I've seen the kk Lautie shuffle for a while but I just can't seem to justify the price point for me. I've seen knock off ones on Amazon and other retailers. Have you tried them out before? Do you happen to know of a similar fidgit at a price point of 50 pounds. Cheers!
You've missed 1 of the simplest yet really satisfying adult toys, a machined spinning top. For a while i was collecting them and carrying them around with me.
For me, although I loved the video, the Greek kompoloi remains the champion of fidgets. You can get them in all prices and materials and can last you a life time. On top of that, the process of choosing one is unique to every person and a lovely experience overall. Cheers 😊
@@matthewhebbert9712 historically it originates from prayer beads. However, in Greece, it is not associated with religion. it is the only country to use beads outside of religion and therefore a komboloi can vary in the number of beads based on their size or the owners liking. The beads are traditionally made from organic material and along with the way the beads are cut/ shaped it makes a certain sound when you stroke it. When choosing one it has to be pleasing on the eye, on the hand (based on the shape of beads) and the sound. People at the era of my great grandfather would speak of the magic bond that forms between a man and their komboloi…
The only roller is what I use then I'm anxious. It helps keep me focused and stops me from being as anxious(it's not gone just focusing elsewhere which helps)
A retractable pen is the cheapest fidget item I can think of and one I've used since grade school. While I appreciate and admire these brilliantly engineered recos of yours, their prices are not within my comfortable range of spending. 😄
The pen is fantastic but too likely to be confiscated by airport security. The cone is intriguing so I ordered one. It's about £1.5 (shipping included) where I live.
Some multitools/Swiss army knives have such a form factor that they can function as fidget toys as well. You just find yourself playing with the one handed opening blade again and again for example.
I have the impossible cone. Didn't get mine from Amazon, but rather from an Etsy creator that 3D prints them. They are absolutely stupid, and absolutely addicting. To the point that all 5 members of my family have them. The only con I've found is that the non-cone part, what I call the fingers, at least in what I have are not strong, therefore the tips can break. That being said, it still works the same even with the broken tips.
My Demko AD20.5 serves as fidget toy more than I actually use it to cut things with it. You also have the added thrill/danger not to accidentally cut yourself. 😂
Great options 👍 I am considering the ONO but I wondering whether it would be better than rotating my super smooth AirPods Pro case in my left hand and it works really well ....
The roulette wheel is expensive, but you can go and set up anywhere and have people bet at bars and stuff. And obviously since you would be the house since it’s your wheel, you would make the most money. Of course you should only do that if it’s legal in your area to gamble. 😉
I tied a few cobra knots on a lanyard for my aluminum kubaton and I keep spinning and flying it in my hands, almost a traditional soviet prison style fidget toy lol.
If I carry my zippo I often find myself playing with it. It also has a real point of carrying since it’s a lighter. Those fidget toys didn’t really appeal to me yet…
I carry a knucklebone with me daily, I like moving it around between my fingers when i'm waiting for something/someone and it's quiet, which is important cause the fidget slider kept annoying other people
@@JonGadget if you want, give the knucklebone a try, using it improves the dexterity but i found it actually very difficult to learn how to use it smoothly. Aroundsquare has some nice knucklebones and also instruction videos on youtube how to do different tricks
I don't like it, it feels sneaky, like "surprise! I'm now unexpectedly forcing you to stop what you were enjoying to look at this thing." It's the very definition of obtrusive; completely taking over the screen.
Have you tried a Zippo lighter. The click when you close it is satisfying as well as annoying for some when done for long enough 🙂and frankly this could very well be...the original fidget toy, that in this case is NOT a toy.
Good call, but most of these are made out of machined metal, which technically you can 3d print but, y'know. There are some excellent 3d printable fidget toys but my plastic Squiddy cannot replace a proper metal butterfly knife.
those impossible cone things actually enrage me… I want to smash it and never have to look at it again. the same goes with pretty much anything that’s 3D-printed… it’s amazing technology, the designs can be impressive, but the plastic is the cheapest material on the planet, and I want it as far away from me as possible 😑
@@JonGadget - I know it’s semi-irrational… I just hate the way the 3D printer plastic feels in my hands, the way it sounds when it rubs against itself… it’s like nails on a chalkboard to me 😬
Future fun video idea. Have your wife on to guess the price of some of the edc gear you use. Maybe make it a competition with some jewelry that she wants to show off Have the daughter put together an edc like you and jamie have done for christmas for you guys to use for a month or something.

In the interest of educating you, that's your experience. I'm an autistic person and definitely benefit. Even prior to getting my adult diagnosis, I found that when machine minding I could do the job better whilst reading a copy of Private Eye - my eyes on the text, but my ears really focused on the machine - sadly the shift manager didn't agree, so the jam-rate went back up. However, I absolutely agree your implied point about cost. My fidgets are good enough for their low cost - the Pareto Principle (80:20 rule).
My Leatherman T4 doubles as a perfect fidget gadget. I can’t stop opening and closing the tools one-handed-it’s so satisfying!
I’m doing the same with my arc. 😍
I do this also!
I don’t get fidget devices. But can appreciate the engineering and artistic skills that went into most of these.
I have a friend with ADHD. He literally can not keep his look straight if he is not holding something in his hand
