    Oregon boy, Orioles fan, spoiled by the late '60s and '70s teams, I remember thinking it had been an eternity since the Birds had won a series (13 years), but I was just 23, so it had been. Had no idea it would be 41 years and counting until the next.

And with the 350+ games ive been to at Fenway i wouldve without a doubt bet the orioles organization had 0 titles and wouldve at best made 1 or 2 world series appearances & would've been theyre crowning jewel achievement.

    I find it fascinating how much the sport has evolved in such a small amount of time. You can take 2 of the best players from both of these championship teams and all 4 would struggle dearly to even make a pro club in 2022. And thats just a fact. However i believe guys in this era worked x2 as hard as todays players. I will also say on that note i believe micheal jordan is the best basketball player pound for pound all time. I

    All i can think about watching the pitching in this game is how many records Barry bonds would break facing these guys. Or the aaron judges of the world who is ridiculously productive even vs pitcher's in 2022 who all throw beyond 95mph with sinking cut.. Judge would've surpassed babe as the most polarizing baseball player all time

    • @mloftus8618
      @mloftus8618 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      False. You have no idea how hard these guys are throwing, they didn’t measure it in game. And the cameras were not good enough to pick up the subtle movements like todays broadcasts. They would’ve adjusted to guys like judge, just like they do today. Don’t be a fool

      I wouldn’t be so sure Bonds and Judge would dominate. True, most pitchers didn’t throw consistently in the upper 90s back then, but that’s not the only way to pitch. Think about it; how hard did Greg Maddux throw? Dude is arguably one of the top 10 pitchers ever.

  • @waynewells3297

    In honor of the O’s, here’s a philosophical rumination on the weird, mystical power of 33: 1. According to our decimal based number system, it’s impossible to succeed one third of the time at the plate. Going 4 for 12 in a series is .333. But that’s not really one third. OK, how about .3333? Nope. Try .33333333. Nope.DOH!! 2. Number 33 played on 33rd Street until Memorial Stadium was 33 years old. 3. They throw and hit a round object in arcs. No edges, no straight lines in pitches or hits. But then, a 10-based number system screws it up. This is why I don’t completely trust Sabermatricians. They’re like the dude who tells you that the Mona Lisa contains 243 grams of oil based paint. The number 33 at least TRIES to be round, like the damn baseball itself. 4. I spent 33 % of my married life living on Thirty Third Street , where I went to about 33% of the home games. OK time to go back to work. I’ve got at least 33 things on my to-do list.
