- 12Original NBC Broadcast with Curt Gowdy, Chuck Thompson, Bob Prince and Tony Kubek Raw Network Game Broadcast (no cutaways to commercials, or breaks) Game 7 of the 1971 World Series from Memorial Stadium.
Recorded and Digitalized off a pre-recorded VHS tape ive had in my archives since the late 80s early 90s. And has been recently restored, to the best of my ability as the quality of game 7 isn't the greatest, but the most complete ive seen out there with the unedited broadcast footage.
With the series tied at 3 games each, the deciding game starting pitchers are Steve Blass (1-0) for the Pirates and Mike Cuellar (0-1) for the Orioles, the game is scoreless until the 4th inning when MVP of the '71 Series Roberto Clemente giving Pittsburgh the early lead, and proved to be the game winner as Steve Blass keeps the Orioles scoreless, a 2 hitter through 7 innings. Pirates add a run in the top of the 8th inning on a RBI double from 3B Jose Pagan. Cuellar is replaced by Pat Dobson in 9th a Cuellar pitches a pretty good game himself, going the 8 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits while striking out 6 and walking none. Roberto Clemente was the star in each game of the 1971 World Series and was a no brainer for the MVP of the 1971 Series with a .414 AVE (12 for 29), with 2 HRs (including the game winner in game 7) with 7 RBIs, and fine defensive play in RF throughout the series. Steve Blass with the complete game win, going the 9 innings giving up just one run on 4 hits while striking out 2 and walking 2. Includes some Post Game celebration and locker room interviews with Pirate telecaster Bob Prince and the MVP announcement and trophy presentation with MLB commissioner Buey Kuen
Roberto Clemente ......the one and only !!!!
totally that 7th inning HR . I REMEMBER IT
My Dad was Bill Winstein, the Pittsburgh Press artist/cartoonist for the sports page. In 1971, he won the Golden Quill.
This footage is gold ! Thank you !!
World Series in the daytime! Early in the afternoon, with football to follow!! No pyrotechnics and crazy graphics!!! Oh God, those were the days, my friend!!!!
1st WS game I ever saw, I was 11😊

The trench represents depression!! Like a cut, it will need a band-aid!👩⚕️ 🏥
Like a “River Running Through It”, water represents a liquid band-aid for this depression!! 🌊 🌊 🌊🌊🌊

Now picture Mars and that crack!! 👁️ The Ghostbusters ooze, oozing out of that crack!! 🤢🤮👻 TMNT!! Secret of the ooze!! Turtle Power!! 🐢

Our consciousness aka water and star stuff, oozing from the crack and tapping us into higher dimensions!! 🌌
It’s getting juicy!! 🍍 🍍 🍍🍍🍍😋

Our Never Ending Story!! 🐺 📖 🐌 🪨 🕯️
Purrthquakes!! 😻 🐾
That picture of Mars and the trench would also represent a seed that is about to sprout!!🌱 🌹 🐼
For a human in depression, it would represent them coming out of it, of course!!😇🌍👼☮️⚡️🤯👽🛸🪐
MOMentum and energy then create the fusion we need to thrust ourselves beyond Jupiter and towards the furthest stars!! ✨ 🌌
The same as a tree like Devils Tower becoming the Tower Of The Gods!! The same as a Sequoia reaching for the furthest stars!! Trying to seek more light!!💡 🌳
We can definitely imagine we’re the Earth itself and to level up, we push through that seed which is Mars!!🌍🌱🍄🟫👽🛸🌌✨
Belief is a powerful drug!! ⛄️ ❄️
We’re going radioactive!!☢️ 🍊 🫐 🎆 😮

Trees represent our dendrites!! 🌳 🧠 The Earth and universe are also like a brain and computer!!💻 🌍 🌌
Literally everything here is our teacher!!👩🏫
Leave (leaf) 🍃 🍂 no stone unturned!! 🌑 We’re solving a puzzle!!!!🧩
So the bark “woof woof” of the tree represents our thoughts!!💭 Everything does!! Duh!🙄
Clean up our thoughts about each other and our trees shed their bark, like a snake shedding its skin!! 🐍 💜
That’s a kundalini experience!!! Representing a childs rattle too, as you’re unlocking your inner child!! 🧒 🛝

My cosmic perspective!!🔭🧑🚀🪐🛸🌌
No advertisements all over the outfield walls......no loud obnoxious music......no hot dogging, tattooed bat flipping moron players
I remember watching this with my brother on my black and white tv in my room
A guy in a baseball league I am has a uncle and is name is Steve Blass.
I’m thinking you were asleep in English class.
52:45 this must be the first-ever playing of “Sweet Caroline” at a nationally-televised sporting event. Moments later Clemente homers.
It was a home team winning every game until this one
Chuck Thompson (PBP) & Curt Gowdy (C) 1st half
Gowdy (PBP) & Thompson (C) 2nd half
Tony Kubek (Field reporter)
Bob Prince (clubhouse)
Both teams in the new double knit uniforms with no belts Pirates were the first team to have them in 1970
Every team went to those type uniforms in 1972 except for the Yankees
@@markravitz1684One year later the Yankees did go to them in 1973 although they had belts
I watched this game with my Dad as a young kid in Pittsburgh. Steve Blass was awesome that season, then lost the ability to throw strikes not long after. And without ever knowing he did, Mr. Blass saved me from getting arrested 21 years later near Canaan, CT when I was just starting my career in finance.
Ok that's an interesting story. Please tell!
all of my friends were Baltimore fans ! when Clemente hit that home run i laughed at them ! we watched on TV.
Umpires (Game 7)
HP Nestor Chylak (AL) (Crew Chief)
1B Ed Sudol (NL)
2B John Rice (AL)
3B Ed Vargo (NL)
LF James Odom (AL)
RF John Kibler (NL)
Chuck Thompson had the best play by play voice I have ever heard. Jon Miller sounds a bit similar
Boog Powell cutting off the throw to the plate letting in the second run was the difference in the game and the World Series. The play would have been extremely close. I can't imagine what Powell was thinking.
Stargell had the throw beaten, but Powell still should not have cut it off.
Always wondered why Brooks wore helmets with short brims. 🤔
Maybe Oriole catcher Hendricks yelled “CUT” to Powell.
After commissioner Bowie Kuhn passed away, several of his baseball memorabilia was auctioned at an estate sale. ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
56:02 Roberto Clemente solo homer
Go Bucs!
Looks like Sanguillen has a very long bat.
Earl Weaver with the middle finger while being introduced.
Probably unintentional though
*_BAN THE DH!!!_*
Boog Powell could not hit a beach ball . Steve Blass tossed slow curve balls all day ! jezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Roberto Clemente's last ever game. It's a shame that he struck out on his final at bat of his life.
No - he played the whole next season (1972). He died in December of that year. In my mind still one of the best ever.
He played one more season and got hit #3,000 in his last at-bat if I'm not mistaken.
@charlesdivers4592 You are not mistaken...I was at that game in Pittsburgh on September 30, 1972. 3000th hit!
@@charlesdivers4592YES , IN PITTSBURGH VS NEW YORK METS. 9/30/1972 FELL ASLEEP IN THE LORD ♥️♥️🙏🙏 12/31/1972 RIP 🙏🙏 ♥️♥️ RWG 🙏♥️♥️🙏 AMEN
@@charlesdivers4592 Yes, in the final game of the 1972 season.
Here is how I would call that last play......if I were a play-by-play announcer for the Baltimore Orioles...
"Merv hits a grounder right to Hernandez, this could be the series---he traps, he throws---ROBERTSON GETS IT - MERV IS OUT - and the Bucs are the champions! They win the series 4-3.
For Birds fans, they can only watch the Pittsburgh world championship celebration around the first base line. They did get a World Series victory in 1970 against the Reds, but sadly, like 1969, they come up short again in 1971 in this series.
But for Pirates fans in Memorial Stadium, they can bask in this biggest of Major League Baseball victories, realizing that it was Roberto Clemente that caused the Bucs to win it all. He will likely become the series MVP...."
