The 2025 Infiniti QX80 Is Bold, Luxurious, And Finally Shows Where Infiniti Is Taking The Brand

- Infiniti's future has been murky for a few years, but the flagship QX80 just got a complete redesign that should put all doubts aside. Now only is the QX80 the biggest, baddest SUV Infiniti has ever made, it's also the most powerful Infiniti ever thanks to a new 3.5L twin-turbo V6 that cranks out 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. Power is sent down via a standard 9-speed automatic and optional AWD.
On the inside we see twin 14-inch LCDs in the dash, more wood and leather than ever before and improved electronics as well. The new infotainment software is snappier than before and there's some new audio tech that'll let you talk on the phone while everyone else in the car listens to the audio system. Towing? Not quite Lexus GX levels, this model comes in at 8,500 lbs when properly equipped and there's not just a load leveling suspension but a 4-corner air suspension on offer.

@@faheemabbas3965 Their engines are on point though. One of the best in business. VK56, VR38DETT, VK45, VQ35DD to name a few... all bulletprooof engines. McLaren´s V8 are Nissan engines.

Probably not till 2025. And hopefully they do enough to give them their own identities in the market. Because you could almost everything you need on a top trim Armada and save a few thousand versus a mid level qx80

I think infiniti nailed the new QX80. And I think the Lexus LX600 will be a very tough sell now even within this own Toyota/Lexus line up let alone this new QX80. the LX600 is outdated already even when it was new..

The QX80 barely sells 10,000 annually. The LX is half that. Though the Armada sales are double the QX80.

I'm going to get killed for this, but Infiniti delivered the vehicle that Lexus thought they did with the LX600. This thing immediately dates the LX, particularly in luxury and interior environment. Its just a more intricate and interesting vehicle, and the top trim is $20K less than an LX.

@@hellkitty1014 They serve different purpose. The LX retains the off-road capability of the Land Cruiser. This QX on the other hand is completely neutered from the Patrol. The QX does not even have low-range. The approach angle is an abysmal 16 degrees according to the press release.

Wow! I am sure this will be expensive but I can now say that once again after many years this is an Infiniti that I would really be proud to own.

Incredible upgrade. Infinity/Nissan is an undervalued brand for quality, but not design. This is a great improvement. Wish they kept the V8 option.
I think it's absolutely gorgeous and it makes me proud that Inginiti is still putting up a fight.

Im not impressed!! First off why is it sitting on the ground. He said you get 5 more inches but it still looks as if it would still be on the ground!! It's decent, but doesn't look luxury. It looks more premium at best!!😂

I think Cadillac has nothing to worry about being how everyone is inspired by their latest design language. I see lots of Escalade inspiration in this exterior and interior but no one has quite outdone Cadillac’s interior yet. It seems more like competition is finally catching up to it.
I will say Lincoln, Lexus, and Jeep just got outclassed by Infiniti and they have a lot of work to do.
Lincoln Jeep are better than Infiniti by a smidge but Lexus especially is done. They have to discontinue the lx right now. It has no chance

Nissan is finally churning out some attractive looking product nowadays across all their segment lines. A bit on the pricy end though.
Infiniti just displaced Lincoln Navigator, and the cardiac Escalade designers are forced to go back to the drawing board

@@christianx2kthis looks more like it wants to be the Escalade but no one has seemed to outdo the 38-inch curved OLED display, the AKG studio reference sound system, nor the fact it kept it’s V8 engine in times where they are rare. Looks like Nissan has opted for a 6 cylinder like everyone else and the production model QX80 doesn’t look as good as the concept version did so Cadillac truly has nothing to worry about.
This will definitely be one of the one’s I test drive before making my choice

Left Infiniti for another brand a few years ago b’c of their models’ long-standing obsolescence, but it looks as though they may have grabbed a second wind in that QX80, and I’m glad to see it. Living here near Nissan HQ, I’ve seen so many QX80s and every time I wondered when it would be updated - overdue but looks to be well worth the wait.
*also am intrigued to see public reaction to the 2-spoke Range Rover/Cadillac Celestiq steering wheel* 🙂

Why aren’t we comparing this to the Lexus TX? This is right with that.
TX is a class below this, this is a body on frame full size SUV, TX is 3-row unibody midsize SUV.
@@blackwhirlwind1245 ur right, however the GLS and X7 got mentioned and they are unibody as well. If the TX had the luxury appointments of an x7 and a GLS, then it would also be in the conversation. the TX has almost as much room as a full size body on frame SUV, yet it has more room than an LX, which doesn't make much sense for the LX to be that way. just makes the LX less desirable compared to the QX80 and TX

How about the 9 speed ....is it torque covverter and I wish thr classic v8 could have been an option.

This is the most important car for Infiniti since the g35/fx...I wasn't sure if they could match the wagoneer/escalade, but they did, sure escalade may have a massive screen coming but this is also a massive interior tech presence. This is also high enough quality to compete with the x7 and gls, the suspension sounds like it could make driving dynamics be on par/closer with that of those more sporty lux options than the massive wagoneers of the world.
We like it so much we’re not complaining about the steering wheel covered with touch sensitive controls, which I thought we didn’t like. lol
I wish we ccould have a q60 with this interior 😮💨

Love the way the exterior and interior looks. 3 issues on the interior:
1) Lack of physical buttons up front for climate controls.
2) Too much piano black. You'd think that car companies would of changed by now.
3) The buttons on steering wheel could of used a better surface material than what was given.
Is this an all new vehicle? Or is it a heavily, HEAVILY revised version of the outgoing like the Z? The body hard points look too similar to not share a lot of DNA with the old one. Curious to see if I’m wrong.
Probably is. Pathfinder (D) & Rogue(CMF-C/D)also use previous gen platforms from 2013, just heavily revised.
nissan put up the standard so high! super gorgeous update! this will eat LX600 for breakfast! got more power, got more toys, it is bigger and more spacious, got more presence with cheaper srp! damn! can wait to see the rugged offroad nissan version, the Y63 PATROL!! (Land Cruiser 300series direct rival)

Everything just seems to fall into place for the QX80. The luxury, style, power, etc is a quantim leap for the 14 year old vehicle that is replacing.
They really spent considerable time and effort to make this vehicle super relevant for the times and class. Now...Infiniti should address the Q50, bring back the QX70, and consider flagship sedan to take on the Genesis G90 and best from Germany.
I’m excited - I want the Autograph but may not be able to get it until late 2025 or early 2026.

I expect Infiniti/Nissan will get a Hyundai/Kia glow up in the next few years. Maybe not as big, but this is a huge step in the right direction.

It's crazy that the truck makes those 22s look like 17s. The fact that the front looks so much like Palisade and they went with "Autograph" for its trim name instead of Calligraphy is kind of lol-worthy. Should hopefully be a nice vehicle to own and maintain.

The LX is not worth wasting time mentioning as the lx is just not competitive in any way to the point where it’s objectively nonexistent

This looks amazing just from the first few seconds, and the interior looks proper worthy. I really like this and the new GX from Lexus. By far 2 of my favorite new SUV’s on the market. I might even take this over a GLS or X7

I would buy one right now if they kept the V8, but as such I will wait at least 2 years to see how the twin turbo V6 fairs, in light of the fiasco Toyota/Lexus is going through with their twin turbo V6.
Very nice, clean design. Maybe a bit derivative of some other brands’ designs, but still pretty nice.

Hyundai should feel flattered. That front end is ripped right off the Palisade. With that said, happy to see Infiniti finally releasing another desirable product.
Hyundai’s styling doesn’t even belong to them. Why should they feel flattered when their flagship SUVs styling is straight off the Cadillac Escalade? Their signature vertical LED lighting is all over the Palisade while the Kia Telluride is the GMC Yukon lookalike.
No different from the Sante Fe styling being straight off a Land Rover Defender. Hyundai and Kia do not style their own products, not sure why their fans actually try to give them credit for their designs when their styling literally belongs to other brands. The same goes for their luxury brand, Genesis. It’s Bentley’s styling and did not actually originate from South Korea. Lol

Alex, great overview. An amazing makeover. A few nits: Someone else mentioned the off-center tach and speedo triggering their OCD - same here! Other oddities - no rear sun shades, especially in this price range but a feature available on much lessers, and reinvention of exterior door handles that seems to be a fad lately. Looks to be another possible problem area in freezing weather? Regardless, something fiddly to go wrong, and unnecessary, like on the 992 911 and others - the answer to the question that absolutely no one asked, for such a straightforward but critical function that--as far as I know--was never a problem area before (you notice the new Panamera seems to have regular handles, maybe someone listened re the 911?). Rollerskate 22s at least a size too far, but that's nothing new these days. Hope the brake size permits a sizing down. I'm never a fan of the combo of red and black (especiallu if more dark gray as appears here). I'd rather see a higher ratio of red to black like an old Mercedes (and I am not a red person) - more luxe. My .02.
If you look a bit closer, you'll see why the spedo is off-center a bit. It's so both the spedometer and the tach fit inside the opening in the steering wheel from the driver's perspective. If it filled the whole screen, you'd have parts getting cut off by the wheel.

It doesn’t look that different from the outside. Interior looks better but has an infinite number of ways for things to break. It’s also frustrating how many cars don’t allow for CarPlay to use the entire screen.
Who keeps telling these auto makers that piano black looks good? Have they not seen what happens after one year of use? I actually was beginning to like this, until I saw the center scratch magnet.
