Even I am suffering from last two and a half year. And recently i got diagnosed as well. Undergoing therapy and counseling. But nothing's working. And above all this I still wanna believe that I am just sad. Maybe trying to escape the reality. But life literally seems like hell in this place

to put it into better perspective, sadness is fleeting, you only feel sad for a little while, depression is an angry voice in your head that feeds on your despair and anguish, and takes great glee in taking every last ounce of happiness away from you, it will morph into your loved ones, and your respected piers, it does not love, it does not care, it wants to hurt you, it makes you hurt yourself in horrible ways, it is a dark amorphous monster that is patient and always waiting for you to reach your lowest point, all of this is metaphor of course, for what someone with clinical depression feels on a daily basis, every waking hour of every waking day of every year of their life.

I would exclude 2&3 from depression mainly because people with high functioning depression can perform those fine but not necessarily get anything out of it
No. this is wrong. High functioning depression exists, where the person hides behind their depression. And depression isn’t always in the form of not showering - some people force themselves to shower, clean their rooms, etc, but they may spend longer in the shower because of tiredness/fatigue or take longer to clean their room because they have no motivation to do so. People with depression can still find joy in some things, but as soon as it’s all over, all the bad thoughts come back and everything goes dark again. And also in this scenario it could be they’re neglecting their feelings, shutting out all their feelings or simply faking their happiness infront of others to not get people concerned. Some people who are depressed find it easier to continue after getting a lot of their built up feelings off their chest. It doesn’t make it sadness. And just because someone with depression doesn’t lock themself away and still talks to people (even if it’s just because they have to) doesn’t mean they aren’t depressed anymore. Most of the time It means they’re trying to block out their feelings, neglecting themselves and making the depression even worse. I am diagnosed with severe depression, but somehow I feel the need to watch this because I always feel like I am faking it. Even tho I go to therapy weekly and have extreme amounts of suicidal thoughts and have a SH addiction, I still just feel like I am faking💀😭😭
I get the same thoughts of faking it too, I don’t have anything diagnosed but the stuff I do experience I feel like it’s all fake even though I do self harm too and it’s been going on for at least a couple months
Take a moment. You should know that.. It's okay. It's okay not to feel always okay and It's okay if you have thoughts which tell you that you're faking it. It's not your fault. Nowadays everybody puts on our minds things and make us feel that we are faking our depression, sadness etc. It's okay, It's not your fault. It's society's. Take care!
There are different levels of depression. Having depression doesn't mean you necessarily can't enjoy anything all the time, or you can't function at all...depending on how severe. It certainly can, or make it more difficult, but i feel this video makes it too either/or.

I self diagnosed myself as suffering from sadness because I thought it was normal teenage edginess... Turns out I was actually depressed because that's what my two psychologists said as soon as we sat down (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*.✧
Im diagnosed with severe depression but push myself to do the daily things. And if i am watching a show, i force myself to pay attention and ultimately laugh as a result, even though deep down i am hopeless, as i see everything as futile. This video is not an end-all-beat-all; while it may help those in layman's terms/the simple stuff to differenciate the two on simple terms, some of us have had depression for so long that we have learnt to cope and it may look normal, but we know that lying in bed will make those around us angry and make life worse for our depression. So, as much as i love these videos, its not always simple as it seems to differenciate between the two. I live in sadness but dip into depression, though i see everything as hopeless all the time--and i never snap up out of it like your video says that sad people do. What then?

Im so glad you made this. I've been very upset lately and i didn't want to self diagnose myself. All the things i used to enjoy doing (Basketball, tennis, piano, guitar, ballet, swimming you name it) I've completely lost interest for, which happens with almost everything i have done except for art. This makes me feel so guilty as my only hobbies now are doing my art homework and scrolling through my phone all day. I can't find myself being good at almost nothing either, and my self esteem has been destroying me. I'm a much more private and introverted person than i used to be and i dislike more than a bit of socializing. As you mentioned, it feels pointless doing anything and even going to the bathroom. I'd hold it in for at least an hour just because i think it's not worth it I always cry for no reason, and I'm an extremely sensitive person. I'm not sure if i have depression or not, and I'm afraid to tell my parents what I've been going through. But thank you for informing others.
This is relatable with me, except for the crying cause I can't make myself cry lol. I feel like my mood is just nonstop neutral no up and downs. It's weird tbh. Hope you find the time to heal, sending good vibes.
If this lasts for months, you should definetly tell your parents or seek help, because you just cannot live like that. If it's recent, it's understandable, I have gone through something like that sometimes, it's just that for some reason in life we get tired of things and need something new or something to change, we are unhappy about something and we don't know what, and that makes us lose interest in everything else. It's ideal to figure out why we feel sad and then we can find the solution. There is always a solution and if you want to get out of that state is the first step on the right way. I find that going outside and do things help, staying at home in the same place for long or doing something rutinary everyday can cause temporal depression or makes you feel like nothing makes sense. Please don't take this as a diagnosis or professional advice, this is just me talking from experience. Most of the time we really need to get out of our comfort zone or find things we care about more than what we experience. For example, focusing on helping someone always makes me feel better and I forget about my sadness and then I start to think it wasn't so bad after all, I just needed to take distance from my things. I find that taking distance for a while of the things you no longer care about or the usual environment or routine helps. Think of it this way. A lion seems very threatening up close, but if you rise above and go over the clouds, everything down there is so small it doesn't seem like much at all, and looking at the whole universe in front of us that we have been ignoring because we focused on a few things, suddenly captures our attention and shows us there is so much out there to discover, new wonderful things that can spark our interest. But the first step is always the hardest. Once you start doing something or thinking or something else, doing something that gets you in motion, then it will become much easier. It works for artblock for example. When I go new places I get new ideas to draw, or watch other people on youtube. And sometimes you just have to give yourself some time and think it is okay to feel that way for a while and not stress about it or feel too guilty. If it goes on for more than a month or two, maybe you want to talk to someone about it that is close to you and can be of more use than random people on the internet like me. If you read this far, you are more motivated than you think. I hope you can find what works for you to best cheer you up and get you active again.

That was very helpful. Having lost my spouse of 36 years 18 months ago it’s reassuring that I am not really depressed, just having an appropriate amount of sadness for such a life cratering event. Time does heal but often there are odd moments of pure disbelief that become sadness when the reality hits. I really appreciate this channel.

We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day. My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening. That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are. Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you. His Story Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23) “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12) He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell. “For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price] “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b) Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour! “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28) Your Story What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son. The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. My friend has depression. It's honestly hard to believe. She was so happy and energic in 1st grade, said everone was her friend, but now she's just so serious and sad most of the time. It's kind of boring to be with her, because she doesn't talk much anymore. I remember how years ago she was talking so much and I was the quiet one. It's so sad to see how much she has changed over the years..
I feel like I walk the line between these two things. I regularly struggle to find the drive to get out of bed in the mornings, I seldom eat full meals, and the things I used to enjoy doing now feel like chores, but sometimes something flips over and I have one or two good days. I feel like if I do have actual depression, it's not severe enough for anyone to really be concerned about it, but I've been like this for years, on and off. I feel sorta lost and empty a lot of the time.

I’ve been sad for a long time and still feels negativeness, feels like an endless loop. Can’t sleep well, there are times where don’t want to do something I like, and I definitely don’t like to tell when I’m feeling bad, sad etc I’m not sad 100% every day but most of the time I just don’t feel right, and have negative thoughts of myself. idk what’s wrong with me.

We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day. My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening. That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are. Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you. His Story Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23) “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12) He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell. “For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price] “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b) Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour! “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28) Your Story What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son. The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Thank you for this 💕 I have been in the throes of depression but recently I didn't feel it applied, random bursts of sadness have come and gone but I'm finding my love for writing is suddenly emerging again. I've actually refrained from watching a lot over the last few weeks as I'm deeply entrenched in one of the stories I'm creating - when I was battling depression I couldn't muster my passion for it but right now I can't stop my love for what I do. This tells me, on the days I'm down, it's sadness instead and I can deal with that. Your voice/animations are so beautiful Psych2Go 🥰
I just want to say: If you think you’re depressed or have symptoms of depression, see a doctor if you can go talk about your symptoms even if it turns out to not be depression. It could be sadness, it could be depression, or something else. So if you can talk to a professional, do so. Keep in mind a lot of depressed people ‘ mask ‘ their depression / symptoms. Also try not to talk yourself out of your symptoms. It doesn’t lead anywhere good.
I'm so glad you made this video, I've been diagnosted with severe depression 18 years ago and I'm under treatment with medication and therapy, sometimes when I tell people that I have depression they think that I'm just a little sad(Sorry if I made any English mistakes)

I really disagree with some of these points because High Functioning Depression is a very real thing, and I'd say people with high functioning depression are the ones everyone was like "oh but they were so happy I didn't see this coming" when they decided to end their lives.

Yeah, i feel like this video is invalidating. Not everyone can stay all day in bed and isolate forever!! Responsibilities force depressed people to push themselves to continue their normal lives even if they can't take it anymore and are physically and emotionally exhausted! Like, no one is capable of being entirely sad and suicidal 24/7! You can be numb all day, but you can't be sad and suicidal all day! Like.... like you say, high functioning depression is real dammit! Not everyone is the same!! No one can be only "sad" for 5 years!!! (I was giving my example)

To be honest i dont know if i am depressed or just deeply saddened but i dont find joy in the simple things i once had. Unless i abuse substances like alcohol, or weed. Even just to enjoy the company of those close to me

It's not always easy having caring and understandable friends. Sure u might feel free after letting it out, but who can u share it with when no one's interested. Those people are lucky who have good friends ☺️ always remember to hold on to them .
I might say sadness and depression are quite different. I have felt sadness many times but it often lasts days-weeks, but one time... I was experiencing symptoms of "sadness" until it became chronic and haven't stoped before right my depression starts. So, careful with the symptoms everyone!
I think that diagnosis or not it is still valid, if you are sad, angry or experience anything you find hard in life you still have the right to talk about it or feel validated for your feelings ❤️ I think it’s just important to not be too hard on yourself and to remember that feeling negative emotions is normal and having periods in life or depression and anxiety is also normal. Just that you have a support system if things go out of hand

I was diagnosed with clinical depression over 30 years ago, and have spent every day since then attempting to become more "normal" because it's uncomfortable to exist in a depressed state. Often I choose not to acknowledge my depressive moods for exactly that reason. As a result, it seems I've unlearned how to recognize signs of depression; all of these seem to apply to me, though I KNOW my diagnosis and the reasons for it, and I KNOW everything I'm continually doing to keep myself healthy despite it. Having conquered depression is not a signal that it's gone, just like not using heroin is not a signal that one is no longer addicted.
I usually don't watch your videos about depression fearing i might over identify myself in them because i don't want to face my problems. This time I thought "nice i will find good arguments to convince myself i'm okay". I didn't. But that's okay, thank you for your videos, they're very soothing and step by step i am learning about little things that speak for themselves once you know they are here.
Thanks. I'm a minor and my parents don't know about this; I really needed this. I was really confused about what I have, but now I'm sure I have sadness. It's been 2+ months but I don't really have most of the depression symptoms. I'm a minor and I don't want my parents to know about this because I know they won't take me to a psychiatrist.
Dude honestly this video is misleading. You can have all the sadness symptoms and still have depression. Look deeper into it and take this video with a grain of salt. Invalidating depression is just as dangerous as throwing the term around loosely.
As I clarified, I can't ask my parents for help as it's obvious that they won't take me to a psychiatrist. Also I never said I have ALL the depression symptoms. I faced a (bit) trauma in my early childhood and I was never a social butterfly but I don't want to self-diagnose. I just want to wait for the perfect time as things aren't really going well for me right now. I live in a country where they give a lot of workload/stress in schools and that isn't helping either. For now I just want to wait until I can become of legal age. Thanks.

Wow, this really made me realize that I've come so far out of depression a year ago... I used to have thoughts of kms, I'd spend all day in bed without eating and it was so deep. I'm genuinely happy now, and I hope I can help others as inspiration to get out of that deep sea of darkness, I know they can do it

I am a very positive and productive person but spend lots of time laying in the dark recovering. I look at people who have great outlooks and wonder if they had good parents or good siblings instead of the ones I had who, if I let them, would drag me to the ground if they could. I am thankful for everything I have, even them.
I can’t thank you enough for the videos you put out. Everyday I faced challenges like overthinking and sadness and when I open yt you guys always put out a video related to my problem and it honestly feels good. I’ve been in college for two weeks now and I feel homesick which kinda leads to me being less sociable and always wanting to be alone. And I thought I have depression but was not. I'm so glad im relating to these signs, not all of them, but some of them. And that simply wouldn't have been the case last year. I never got diagnosed because I didn't open up to my family, but I'm pretty sure I was suffering from severe depression, i was having constant suicidal thoughts and embarrassingly enough, I did self harm. I didn't have motivation to do quite literally anything and I lost interest in my favorite people and activities. And I don't know what happened since then, but I feel that now, it's just sadness, even though it may last a long time, it's not depression anymore. I still don't have motivation to do anything productive like clean my room, brush my teeth or even draw anything, but i can still get up in the morning and I can talk to my loved ones, that will forever be enough for me

We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day. My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening. That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are. Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you. His Story Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son. I know this comment is over 2 years old now but yes, you can feel suicidal despite not being depressed. One does not need to always be tied to the other. Many depressed people don't want to commit suicide and vice versa. But depressed or not, it's still important to talk to others you trust about that kind of stuff.
Thank you again for another great video. I have a lot of health issues, so I lack energy often. I was told that I don't have depression but suffer from extreme anxiety and dysthymia , sometimes it's difficult to tell the difference, but I think that's due to circumstances of life too though...burnout.. I always like to self reflect, thank you again...can anyone else identify?
Sadness or depression are only in the level of mind. There is no sadness nor depression for the one who has gone beyond the mind. Meditate to know yourself.

my situation is a little bit same but not always like that iam depressed for three months i would say minor one like i cant imagine living still like that yeah i enjoy some of my hobbies like music but after if iam at work or somewhere else depression makes it much worse like remembering things that happened to you at past i was verbally bullied and now these thinking affect me on every aspect of my life like becoming suicidal jealous to everybody,hopelessness,shame and depressed about my sexual orientation its really worse.watching your videos really really help me and understand about every mental illness
hey psych2go!! i knew for a long time (and even this video helped me know even more) that i definitely don't have depression, instead i have bouts of sadness and burnout and even FEEL depressed but thats just bc i am a very emotional person and take peoples words to heart. but a family member of mine has depression, at least i think they do. they are getting better though. but they are happy and talkative when with their friends but quiet around me and my parents. what do you think this means?? if you coul reply it would be a great help :D thanks!! i love your content
I am diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety. I occasionally am able to get enough motivation to do things that I used to enjoy. I may start but quickly lose the motivation again.. cause I don't enjoy them as much now but I still get a small warm feeling if I've done it. The hint of accomplishment is a decent motivation to keep trying. I've met people who say they have depression when they just show these sadness symptoms.. 😔
people may have high functioning depression. people with HFD may still be able to hang out with friends, go through daily tasks, and stuff like that, but they are still very much depressed. everyone’s experience is different.
I always find myself comforting my friends and other people. I listen more than I talk. So I guess I'm reliable. But when I need to open up to someone there's no one 🙂
I currently have a bad time. I feel sad or even emotionally numb for no reason. And I also think too much, but not in my artistic way of thinking too much. I think about things I don't want to share with, esspecially with people I don't know. I'll just say it's not very happy things. However I still can feel happy, laugh and smile honestly. I have enough energy to do my tasks and things I love, and I enjoy them. That is why I knew I'm ONLY feeling down. But still, thank for this video. It calmed me even though I knew It's just sadness.

So my brother was supposedly diagnosed with depression while he was in a relationship, when he got out of the relationship, he was suddenly better. Did he have actual depression or was it just sadness?
The doctors who diagnosed him are way more qualified than the people on here. Please don’t invalidate his depression. You can be happy and build up but it never goes away.
I was also diagnosed with depression 20 years ago during my early 20's, and this video also makes me feel like I was going through periods of deep sadness rather than clinical depression since I always felt that I had a very good reason on why I was feeling sad whereas someone with clinical depression often feels sad for no reason at all, and I was still enjoying my creative artistic hobbies during my periods of deep sadness whereas someone with clinical depression doesn't enjoy doing any of their favorite hobbies at all.
@@sso.snakey166 I wasn’t trying to invalidate his depression though. It’s been a year since then and he hasn’t shown any kind of the signs like he did when he was in a relationship. He also stopped taking his antidepressants because he said they were causing him anxiety.

I've taken a lot of mental health test (online) And all of the results says i have a severe depression and anxiety, and hey I'm just a 12 yrs. old Who goes through difficult things and act like a 16 yrs. old. sadness is a moment, a feeling and it passes easily, just do things that make you happy, that have a purpose, etc. depression is a chronic condition of mind ("stuck" sadness) and needs time to be healed, meditation is good (to bring back positivity to ourselves when feels impossible to come out of negativity, to relief from negative and stubborn thoughts, heal chronic fatigue, sadness, receiving inspiration to do something new that benefits our life, etc.)
high functioning depression exists. some points of this video can be really really wrong to some people’s experience with depression. everyone goes through it differently and this video really doesn’t help in some situations. it could invalidate people’s experiences and if people who really do have depression watch this, they could start to think it’s just sadness and nothing serious and that could lead to bad things happening later on.
I’m not diagnosed and I CAN’T be diagnosed because the people in my life who would help me with that, are the cause of it, and it’s hard to talk to anyone. Sometimes I wake up energized, then after standing for 2 hours because of “favors”, I drain fast, immediately get easily irritated, clam up, barely eat drink or sleep, and don’t want to talk. I’ve spent most of this summer just sitting in my room listening to music that doesn’t help or hurt, and/or watching ASMR videos that make it seem like I’m having a conversation with them.

I have depression but still do some of these things because I force myself to. I force myself out of bed I force myself to talk to people I force myself to enjoy things but deep down I'd rather be in bed all day. And frankly I'm getting tired of forcing myself to do things. You can do literally everything in this video and still be depressed, except for the last one. 4 months later I feel no better even though it may not look like it.

I'll be honest that I am aware I have depression, but it's in many different forms that it clashes one another because of how short the timestamp that caused my depression one after another. What started was when I was 10 a month or two before my 11th birthday (I'm 25 with my birthday passed) I was in a illegal custody of my aunt who lied to me that my mother didn't love me or wanted me, which I knew already didn't sound like my mom but I wasn't vocal about it. She even belittled me for things I was comfortable in due to my autism and try to force me into wearing certain brand of clothes just to be 'popular' in school. Luckily after 2 years of dealing with this, the judge ordered me to return home but the sad thing is that even to this day I can't say 'i love you' like I use to. From 7th to 8th grade, literally after returning home, I was bullied both physical and verbal by staff and students. It got to the point of wanting to run away or ending my life just to stop the pain. My mom did everything she could to stop the bullying even by calling the higher ups. After graduating (which was unfair because all my grades were F's with a very low GPA and their reason for graduating me was to get rid of me and to stop my mom as a harassment), I ended up having stress induced seizures that were diagnosed after a struggle of finding out what the cause was. In late 2013, my grandma who was like a second parent to me was murdered by her own boyfriend of 6 months. By there I was starting to have trust issues with strangers and friends except certain close ones. In 2014 we moved to our relatives who said they would help us while looking for a place. On my 18th birthday, mom and I found out my sisters were taken custody by the daughter of the same aunt who lied to me by my father. It was a 7 year battle due to a judge who was 'wrapped around my aunt's finger' that this aunt said in front of me and my mom. That battle caused me more severed trust issues that now led to certain relatives and a mental health on myself that I couldn't enjoy some of the things I use to enjoy. In 2020 my closest friend who was like a sister to me passed away and I didn't know until two weeks after. It didn't help when my brother was starting a relationship with someone with the same name (he never met my friend so this was a weird coincidence). Now this year back in January, the same brother died in a crash accident during class. There is still a investigation along with court. Losing my brother was and still is hard emotionally and practically every day I am reminded of him that I'm literally numbing myself which I already learned to do from being around relatives, just to keep a clear headspace. I've told one friend that if I told what I went through before losing my brother, they would wonder how I haven't lost my sanity yet

to put it into better perspective, sadness is fleeting, you only feel sad for a little while, depression is an angry voice in your head that feeds on your despair and anguish, and takes great glee in taking every last ounce of happiness away from you, it will morph into your loved ones, and your respected piers, it does not love, it does not care, it wants to hurt you, it makes you hurt yourself in horrible ways, it is a dark amorphous monster that is patient and always waiting for you to reach your lowest point, all of this is metaphor of course, for what someone with clinical depression feels on a daily basis, every waking hour of every waking day of every year of their life.
Being depressed and still feeling like it's just faking is do horrible tbh

No. this is wrong. High functioning depression exists, where the person hides behind their depression. And depression isn’t always in the form of not showering - some people force themselves to shower, clean their rooms, etc, but they may spend longer in the shower because of tiredness/fatigue or take longer to clean their room because they have no motivation to do so. People with depression can still find joy in some things, but as soon as it’s all over, all the bad thoughts come back and everything goes dark again. And also in this scenario it could be they’re neglecting their feelings, shutting out all their feelings or simply faking their happiness infront of others to not get people concerned.
Some people who are depressed find it easier to continue after getting a lot of their built up feelings off their chest. It doesn’t make it sadness.
And just because someone with depression doesn’t lock themself away and still talks to people (even if it’s just because they have to) doesn’t mean they aren’t depressed anymore. Most of the time It means they’re trying to block out their feelings, neglecting themselves and making the depression even worse.
Please respond because I’d appreciate it to know that you’ve seen this and you’re aware that what I’m saying is correct

I am diagnosed with severe depression, but somehow I feel the need to watch this because I always feel like I am faking it. Even tho I go to therapy weekly and have extreme amounts of suicidal thoughts and have a SH addiction, I still just feel like I am faking💀😭😭

There are different levels of depression. Having depression doesn't mean you necessarily can't enjoy anything all the time, or you can't function at all...depending on how severe. It certainly can, or make it more difficult, but i feel this video makes it too either/or.

God said there is only one way to get to heaven, but it is not hard. You must admit you are a sinner headed for hell. You must believe that Jesus died and paid for your sin with His own blood on the cross, was buried and 3 days later rose from the dead. Then you must repent of your sins and call on God for mercy to save you from hell and give you eternal life in heaven with Him.

None of us deserve God's mercy and grace, but let me warn you friend, that if you reject His FREE gift, you are already condemned and when you die, you will suffer the torment of burning in hell for eternity in a lake of fire where you will be forever separated from God and all that is loving and good.

Im diagnosed with severe depression but push myself to do the daily things. And if i am watching a show, i force myself to pay attention and ultimately laugh as a result, even though deep down i am hopeless, as i see everything as futile. This video is not an end-all-beat-all; while it may help those in layman's terms/the simple stuff to differenciate the two on simple terms, some of us have had depression for so long that we have learnt to cope and it may look normal, but we know that lying in bed will make those around us angry and make life worse for our depression. So, as much as i love these videos, its not always simple as it seems to differenciate between the two. I live in sadness but dip into depression, though i see everything as hopeless all the time--and i never snap up out of it like your video says that sad people do. What then?

Im so glad you made this. I've been very upset lately and i didn't want to self diagnose myself. All the things i used to enjoy doing (Basketball, tennis, piano, guitar, ballet, swimming you name it) I've completely lost interest for, which happens with almost everything i have done except for art. This makes me feel so guilty as my only hobbies now are doing my art homework and scrolling through my phone all day. I can't find myself being good at almost nothing either, and my self esteem has been destroying me. I'm a much more private and introverted person than i used to be and i dislike more than a bit of socializing. As you mentioned, it feels pointless doing anything and even going to the bathroom. I'd hold it in for at least an hour just because i think it's not worth it I always cry for no reason, and I'm an extremely sensitive person. I'm not sure if i have depression or not, and I'm afraid to tell my parents what I've been going through. But thank you for informing others.
This is relatable with me, except for the crying cause I can't make myself cry lol. I feel like my mood is just nonstop neutral no up and downs. It's weird tbh. Hope you find the time to heal, sending good vibes.

If this lasts for months, you should definetly tell your parents or seek help, because you just cannot live like that. If it's recent, it's understandable, I have gone through something like that sometimes, it's just that for some reason in life we get tired of things and need something new or something to change, we are unhappy about something and we don't know what, and that makes us lose interest in everything else. It's ideal to figure out why we feel sad and then we can find the solution. There is always a solution and if you want to get out of that state is the first step on the right way. I find that going outside and do things help, staying at home in the same place for long or doing something rutinary everyday can cause temporal depression or makes you feel like nothing makes sense. Please don't take this as a diagnosis or professional advice, this is just me talking from experience. Most of the time we really need to get out of our comfort zone or find things we care about more than what we experience. For example, focusing on helping someone always makes me feel better and I forget about my sadness and then I start to think it wasn't so bad after all, I just needed to take distance from my things. I find that taking distance for a while of the things you no longer care about or the usual environment or routine helps. Think of it this way. A lion seems very threatening up close, but if you rise above and go over the clouds, everything down there is so small it doesn't seem like much at all, and looking at the whole universe in front of us that we have been ignoring because we focused on a few things, suddenly captures our attention and shows us there is so much out there to discover, new wonderful things that can spark our interest. But the first step is always the hardest. Once you start doing something or thinking or something else, doing something that gets you in motion, then it will become much easier. It works for artblock for example. When I go new places I get new ideas to draw, or watch other people on youtube. And sometimes you just have to give yourself some time and think it is okay to feel that way for a while and not stress about it or feel too guilty. If it goes on for more than a month or two, maybe you want to talk to someone about it that is close to you and can be of more use than random people on the internet like me. If you read this far, you are more motivated than you think. I hope you can find what works for you to best cheer you up and get you active again.
I hope you get up and seek help. Please contact a therapist and talk it out. You are not alone in this. There is support and help. And life is beautiful, even though it feels difficult to see it at the moment. Take care.

That was very helpful. Having lost my spouse of 36 years 18 months ago it’s reassuring that I am not really depressed, just having an appropriate amount of sadness for such a life cratering event. Time does heal but often there are odd moments of pure disbelief that become sadness when the reality hits. I really appreciate this channel.

Family Story
Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day.
My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening.
That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of
a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are.
Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you.
His Story
Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)
He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell.
“For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price]
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)
Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b)
Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour!
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
Your Story
What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son.
The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready?
“...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b)

Tysm for this video, im almost 13 and since last year ive been homeschooled and havent seen my friends for awhile. I often felt sad and was confused if maybe i was depressed but this video helped me understand that thankfully, its not actual depression and im still able to enjoy life sometimes.
this video sorta gives misinformation. people go through depression in many different ways. some people don’t feel happy at all, some people have learned to cope and make the best of what they have left. you can still feel happiness when you’re depressed, it’s just everyone’s experience is different. you could very much have depression. stay strong tho xx

He died innocently in your place so that you could be saved from going to hell. It was His blood that satisfied the just demands of a holy God. God will not accept anything else.

My friend has depression. It's honestly hard to believe. She was so happy and energic in 1st grade, said everone was her friend, but now she's just so serious and sad most of the time. It's kind of boring to be with her, because she doesn't talk much anymore. I remember how years ago she was talking so much and I was the quiet one. It's so sad to see how much she has changed over the years..
I feel like I walk the line between these two things. I regularly struggle to find the drive to get out of bed in the mornings, I seldom eat full meals, and the things I used to enjoy doing now feel like chores, but sometimes something flips over and I have one or two good days. I feel like if I do have actual depression, it's not severe enough for anyone to really be concerned about it, but I've been like this for years, on and off. I feel sorta lost and empty a lot of the time.

I don’t know if I have depression but I can’t say I relate to these facts. I’ve been sad for a long time and still feels negativeness, feels like an endless loop. Can’t sleep well, there are times where don’t want to do something I like, and I definitely don’t like to tell when I’m feeling bad, sad etc I’m not sad 100% every day but most of the time I just don’t feel right, and have negative thoughts of myself. idk what’s wrong with me.

Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today!

Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son.

We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready?

Thank you for this 💕 I have been in the throes of depression but recently I didn't feel it applied, random bursts of sadness have come and gone but I'm finding my love for writing is suddenly emerging again. I've actually refrained from watching a lot over the last few weeks as I'm deeply entrenched in one of the stories I'm creating - when I was battling depression I couldn't muster my passion for it but right now I can't stop my love for what I do. This tells me, on the days I'm down, it's sadness instead and I can deal with that.

I just want to say: If you think you’re depressed or have symptoms of depression, see a doctor if you can go talk about your symptoms even if it turns out to not be depression. It could be sadness, it could be depression, or something else. So if you can talk to a professional, do so.
Keep in mind a lot of depressed people ‘ mask ‘ their depression / symptoms. Also try not to talk yourself out of your symptoms. It doesn’t lead anywhere good.

I really disagree with some of these points because High Functioning Depression is a very real thing, and I'd say people with high functioning depression are the ones everyone was like "oh but they were so happy I didn't see this coming" when they decided to end their lives.

Yeah, i feel like this video is invalidating. Not everyone can stay all day in bed and isolate forever!! Responsibilities force depressed people to push themselves to continue their normal lives even if they can't take it anymore and are physically and emotionally exhausted!

To be honest i dont know if i am depressed or just deeply saddened but i dont find joy in the simple things i once had. Unless i abuse substances like alcohol, or weed. Even just to enjoy the company of those close to me

I have felt sadness many times but it often lasts days-weeks, but one time...
I was experiencing symptoms of "sadness" until it became chronic and haven't stoped before right my depression starts. So, careful with the symptoms everyone!

I think that diagnosis or not it is still valid, if you are sad, angry or experience anything you find hard in life you still have the right to talk about it or feel validated for your feelings ❤️ I think it’s just important to not be too hard on yourself and to remember that feeling negative emotions is normal and having periods in life or depression and anxiety is also normal. Just that you have a support system if things go out of hand

I was diagnosed with clinical depression over 30 years ago, and have spent every day since then attempting to become more "normal" because it's uncomfortable to exist in a depressed state. Often I choose not to acknowledge my depressive moods for exactly that reason. As a result, it seems I've unlearned how to recognize signs of depression; all of these seem to apply to me, though I KNOW my diagnosis and the reasons for it, and I KNOW everything I'm continually doing to keep myself healthy despite it. Having conquered depression is not a signal that it's gone, just like not using heroin is not a signal that one is no longer addicted.

Thanks. I'm a minor and my parents don't know about this; I really needed this. I was really confused about what I have, but now I'm sure I have sadness. It's been 2+ months but I don't really have most of the depression symptoms. I'm a minor and I don't want my parents to know about this because I know they won't take me to a psychiatrist.
Dude honestly this video is misleading. You can have all the sadness symptoms and still have depression. Look deeper into it and take this video with a grain of salt. Invalidating depression is just as dangerous as throwing the term around loosely.
As I clarified, I can't ask my parents for help as it's obvious that they won't take me to a psychiatrist. Also I never said I have ALL the depression symptoms. I faced a (bit) trauma in my early childhood and I was never a social butterfly but I don't want to self-diagnose. I just want to wait for the perfect time as things aren't really going well for me right now. I live in a country where they give a lot of workload/stress in schools and that isn't helping either. For now I just want to wait until I can become of legal age. Thanks.

Wow, this really made me realize that I've come so far out of depression a year ago... I used to have thoughts of kms, I'd spend all day in bed without eating and it was so deep. Guys loved the vid but I could hear the voices in the background.
I'm so glad im relating to these signs, not all of them, but some of them. And that simply wouldn't have been the case last year. I never got diagnosed because I didn't open up to my family, but I'm pretty sure I was suffering from severe depression, i was having constant suicidal thoughts and embarrassingly enough, I did self harm. I didn't have motivation to do quite literally anything and I lost interest in my favorite people and activities.
And I don't know what happened since then, but I feel that now, it's just sadness, even though it may last a long time, it's not depression anymore. I still don't have motivation to do anything productive like clean my room, brush my teeth or even draw anything, but i can still get up in the morning and I can talk to my loved ones, that will forever be enough for me
I am depressed...but all the time..
Talk to a mental health professional if you haven't, you may have depression. But only the professionals can say if you do or not. (I think-)

Family Story
Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day.
My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening.
That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of
a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are.
Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you.
His Story
Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)
He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell.
“For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price]

Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today!

Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him.

Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour!
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)
Your Story
What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son.
The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready?
“...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b)

I know this comment is over 2 years old now but yes, you can feel suicidal despite not being depressed. One does not need to always be tied to the other. Many depressed people don't want to commit suicide and vice versa. But depressed or not, it's still important to talk to others you trust about that kind of stuff.

Thank you again for another great video. I have a lot of health issues, so I lack energy often. I was told that I don't have depression but suffer from extreme anxiety and dysthymia , sometimes it's difficult to tell the difference, but I think that's due to circumstances of life too though...burnout.. I always like to self reflect, thank you again...can anyone else identify?

Sadness or depression are only in the level of mind. There is no sadness nor depression for the one who has gone beyond the mind. Meditate to know yourself.

@@freegirl3786 Sarcasm is it?? You can prevent mental illness if you do meditation from young age. The vid was about Sadness and depression so I gave meditation as solution and I didnt speak about Of mental illness. But there are alot of proof that yoga and meditation can cure some mental illness.
my situation is a little bit same but not always like that iam depressed for three months i would say minor one like i cant imagine living still like that yeah i enjoy some of my hobbies like music but after if iam at work or somewhere else depression makes it much worse like remembering things that happened to you at past i was verbally bullied and now these thinking affect me on every aspect of my life like becoming suicidal jealous to everybody,hopelessness,shame and depressed about my sexual orientation its really worse.watching your videos really really help me and understand about every mental illness
hey psych2go!! i knew for a long time (and even this video helped me know even more) that i definitely don't have depression, instead i have bouts of sadness and burnout and even FEEL depressed but thats just bc i am a very emotional person and take peoples words to heart. but a family member of mine has depression, at least i think they do. they are getting better though. but they are happy and talkative when with their friends but quiet around me and my parents. what do you think this means?? if you coul reply it would be a great help :D thanks!! i love your content
I am diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety. I occasionally am able to get enough motivation to do things that I used to enjoy. I may start but quickly lose the motivation again.. cause I don't enjoy them as much now but I still get a small warm feeling if I've done it. The hint of accomplishment is a decent motivation to keep trying.
I've met people who say they have depression when they just show these sadness symptoms.. 😔
people may have high functioning depression. people with HFD may still be able to hang out with friends, go through daily tasks, and stuff like that, but they are still very much depressed. everyone’s experience is different.

I currently have a bad time. I feel sad or even emotionally numb for no reason. And I also think too much, but not in my artistic way of thinking too much. I think about things I don't want to share with, esspecially with people I don't know. I'll just say it's not very happy things. However I still can feel happy, laugh and smile honestly. I have enough energy to do my tasks and things I love, and I enjoy them. That is why I knew I'm ONLY feeling down. But still, thank for this video. It calmed me even though I knew It's just sadness.

Thanks for your content. I find out points showing I am healed after long-termed depression. The efforts have been working. I cannot distinguish between my depression symptoms and sadnesss after many years I suffered depression 😍🤩😘
So my brother was supposedly diagnosed with depression while he was in a relationship, when he got out of the relationship, he was suddenly better. Did he have actual depression or was it just sadness?
The doctors who diagnosed him are way more qualified than the people on here. Please don’t invalidate his depression. You can be happy and build up but it never goes away.

I was also diagnosed with depression 20 years ago during my early 20's, and this video also makes me feel like I was going through periods of deep sadness rather than clinical depression since I always felt that I had a very good reason on why I was feeling sad whereas someone with clinical depression often feels sad for no reason at all, and I was still enjoying my creative artistic hobbies during my periods of deep sadness whereas someone with clinical depression doesn't enjoy doing any of their favorite hobbies at all.
@@sso.snakey166 I wasn’t trying to invalidate his depression though. It’s been a year since then and he hasn’t shown any kind of the signs like he did when he was in a relationship. He also stopped taking his antidepressants because he said they were causing him anxiety.

Sadly, i'm not just sad but really depressed.
I've taken a lot of mental health test (online) And all of the results says i have a severe depression and anxiety, and hey I'm just a 12 yrs. old Who goes through difficult things and act like a 16 yrs. old.
Don't wanna bother u with my problems so let's move on.

sadness is a moment, a feeling and it passes easily, just do things that make you happy, that have a purpose, etc.
depression is a chronic condition of mind ("stuck" sadness) and needs time to be healed, meditation is good (to bring back positivity to ourselves when feels impossible to come out of negativity, to relief from negative and stubborn thoughts, heal chronic fatigue, sadness, receiving inspiration to do something new that benefits our life, etc.)

thanks for bringing this up, so many people misdiagnose themselves and even do it for attention sometimes
high functioning depression exists. some points of this video can be really really wrong to some people’s experience with depression. everyone goes through it differently and this video really doesn’t help in some situations. it could invalidate people’s experiences and if people who really do have depression watch this, they could start to think it’s just sadness and nothing serious and that could lead to bad things happening later on.

I’m not diagnosed and I CAN’T be diagnosed because the people in my life who would help me with that, are the cause of it, and it’s hard to talk to anyone. Sometimes I wake up energized, then after standing for 2 hours because of “favors”, I drain fast, immediately get easily irritated, clam up, barely eat drink or sleep, and don’t want to talk. I’ve spent most of this summer just sitting in my room listening to music that doesn’t help or hurt, and/or watching ASMR videos that make it seem like I’m having a conversation with them.
I hope people remember this!!

I had been depressed for two years and I was pretty sure that since I was quite better so I was just sad but after watching this I’m pretty sure I’m still depressed :,)
I have depression but still do some of these things because I force myself to. I force myself out of bed I force myself to talk to people I force myself to enjoy things but deep down I'd rather be in bed all day. And frankly I'm getting tired of forcing myself to do things. You can do literally everything in this video and still be depressed, except for the last one. 4 months later I feel no better even though it may not look like it.

i believe i am in between, i have been feeling "down" for over 8 years now, maybe even more. it comes back everyday and just makes me hate my self. the 1st 3 years i regularly thought of suicide, but i got over that. i can still enjoy my hobby's, being with my friends and other stuff. but i always only see the negative side of things. i got no self confidence , and regularly burn out. idk what i am in but every month something else happens that brings me deeper in this hole.
you could still have depression. this video sorta gives misinformation. people go through depression in different ways and your experience is just different from what the video says.
You can never know 100% for sure. Might finally get tested for it

I'll be honest that I am aware I have depression, but it's in many different forms that it clashes one another because of how short the timestamp that caused my depression one after another. What started was when I was 10 a month or two before my 11th birthday (I'm 25 with my birthday passed) I was in a illegal custody of my aunt who lied to me that my mother didn't love me or wanted me, which I knew already didn't sound like my mom but I wasn't vocal about it. She even belittled me for things I was comfortable in due to my autism and try to force me into wearing certain brand of clothes just to be 'popular' in school. Luckily after 2 years of dealing with this, the judge ordered me to return home but the sad thing is that even to this day I can't say 'i love you' like I use to. From 7th to 8th grade, literally after returning home, I was bullied both physical and verbal by staff and students. It got to the point of wanting to run away or ending my life just to stop the pain. My mom did everything she could to stop the bullying even by calling the higher ups. After graduating (which was unfair because all my grades were F's with a very low GPA and their reason for graduating me was to get rid of me and to stop my mom as a harassment), I ended up having stress induced seizures that were diagnosed after a struggle of finding out what the cause was. In late 2013, my grandma who was like a second parent to me was murdered by her own boyfriend of 6 months. By there I was starting to have trust issues with strangers and friends except certain close ones. In 2014 we moved to our relatives who said they would help us while looking for a place. On my 18th birthday, mom and I found out my sisters were taken custody by the daughter of the same aunt who lied to me by my father. It was a 7 year battle due to a judge who was 'wrapped around my aunt's finger' that this aunt said in front of me and my mom. That battle caused me more severed trust issues that now led to certain relatives and a mental health on myself that I couldn't enjoy some of the things I use to enjoy. In 2020 my closest friend who was like a sister to me passed away and I didn't know until two weeks after. It didn't help when my brother was starting a relationship with someone with the same name (he never met my friend so this was a weird coincidence). Now this year back in January, the same brother died in a crash accident during class. There is still a investigation along with court. Losing my brother was and still is hard emotionally and practically every day I am reminded of him that I'm literally numbing myself which I already learned to do from being around relatives, just to keep a clear headspace. I've told one friend that if I told what I went through before losing my brother, they would wonder how I haven't lost my sanity yet

Please understand that Jesus loves you more than you can possibly know. He longs to have fellowship with you. The most important decision you will ever make is where you will spend eternity. The Bible says that you can know that you have eternal life in heaven, but If you are putting your trust in anything other than the finished work of Jesus on the cross to get you to heaven, you do not understand God's way. Please let me share with you how you can know you have a home in heaven.
The Bible says that we are all sinners. When God created Adam and Eve, He made them perfect without sin, but they chose to disobey God and became sinful in nature. This sin nature was passed down to all humanity.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Your sin separates you from God.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned (yes, you too) and come short of the glory of God;
A holy, righteous God cannot allow sin into heaven. Sin must be paid for and God's price for sin is death, but not just a physical death, but a spiritual death which means separation from God forever in hell.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
In the Old Testament when man sinned, God required the sacrifice of a perfectly spotless lamb as a substitute in the place of the sinner. The blood of that lamb was only a temporary payment for their sin and so this had to be done often. Jesus Christ, God's Son took on flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as that perfect, spotless Lamb and shed His blood as payment for the sins of the whole world.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Jesus loved you so much He WILLINGLY came and allowed wicked men to spit on Him, mock Him and scourge Him until He was unrecognizable. They stripped him naked, thrust a crown of thorns on His head and nailed His hands and feet to a cross. He hung in agony for hours bleeding, thirsting, struggling for every breath. He died innocently in your place so that you could be saved from going to hell. It was His blood that satisfied the just demands of a holy God. God will not accept anything else.
There is no greater love than that!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever (that means you) believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The good news is that Jesus didn't stay dead in the grave. He came back to life 3 days later just like He promised and He still lives today!
Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Friend, Jesus did all this because He wants to give you the FREE gift of eternal life in heaven with Him!
You cannot do anything to earn your own way into heaven. You can't work for it, be baptized for it, go to church for it or try to be good enough for it. It is a FREE gift that God is offering to you if you will simply receive it by faith.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
God said there is only one way to get to heaven, but it is not hard. You must admit you are a sinner headed for hell. You must believe that Jesus died and paid for your sin with His own blood on the cross, was buried and 3 days later rose from the dead. Then you must repent of your sins and call on God for mercy to save you from hell and give you eternal life in heaven with Him.
Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
None of us deserve God's mercy and grace, but let me warn you friend, that if you reject His FREE gift, you are already condemned and when you die, you will suffer the torment of burning in hell for eternity in a lake of fire where you will be forever separated from God and all that is loving and good.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Please don't wait! Don't take the risk of putting it off until another day, repent, turn to Christ NOW wherever you are at because you aren't guaranteed to live another day on this Earth. Believe God's Word, ask Him to save you and He will! I would love to meet you in heaven someday. Get your name written down in the Lambs Book of Life. God bless you!
