Can't have enough spares, its amazing what you accumulate over the years. Regarding the glass, while you have lots of spare you will never need it. The minute you get rid of it - well you know the rest lol. Enjoying watching this, thumbs up!
My thoughts exactly! The strange thing is, I can't even remember where or when I got half of this stuff. I know I bought the odd box of bits here and there, but I've got way more than expected. It's already saved me from having to go out and buy more bits though, so I'm not complaining! I'll be selling a lot of this on once I've finished the resto, but for now I'm keeping hold of everything until I'm certain I won't need it!
It’s 20deg. F and snowing here so I’m ignoring my TR8 that needs attention. Great to see a person doing his work that isn’t a professional (I can relate). Always something new to see. Thanks
Great vids! I watch many. She's going to be a beautiful car again, thanks to your meticulous work. These cars deserve this kind of care. I do the same for my '77, though on a much smaller scale. Thnx for making the vids. We know it can take half the time when not making a vid, but we can enjoy your TR7 vids for decades to come - much better than working from a manual. Cheers!
Can you remember what readings you got off your fuel sender unit. My low level light is coming on (switch part) but the voltage measured for level I am dubious about. I know the resistance between GO wire & gnd should go towards zero the fuller the tank. Any info be good as I suspect my sender unit. (The actual gauge is good in the dash). Cheers.
I can't remember, no. I don't think I really took any readings anyway - the thing was bouncing around so much I wouldn't have been able to get anything useful off it. But I do seem to remember the low level light is on a different track to the fuel gauge, making it effectively a seperate circuit. There are three wires to the sender, one for the gauge, one for the light and one ground. Might be worth chasing the wiring through and seeing if there's a break or a short there before looking at the sender itself?
@@RedsGarageUK Thanks for that yes I did, the low fuel delay unit with the GO wire goes to is a seperate unit attached usually to the top rhs of the perspex dash securing screw.! This works fine, plus all my resistance reading are showing from the coils on fuel gauge, I just don't know if it's right! I am thinking it's the gauge as I have metered out all cables right to the dash so...unless the variable resistor inside the fuel sender is wrong can't be much else. I know it's the sender unit, was being in denial :) Cheers anyway.
@@ChrisFEJackson Yeah, I know the one (although for some reason the one on mine had been routed out into the engine bay...). But there's a seperate circuit track inside the sender, chances are that's dirty or corroded. It might be fixable with some cleaning (I actually wish I'd tried that with mine), but while you're there it might be easier to just put a new one in... Depends on how long you want the car off the road really.
@@RedsGarageUK For sure, I have had the sender unit out and activated manually measuring the resistance etc, how I knew the low fuel light was ok as that gnds the switch supplies to the lamp on the cluster.. to turn it on, no biggie, so if I get it on the road I know I won't run out of fuel, last famous words :)
It never had an anti theft device and I wasn't able to find one to buy in time. But I've got a locking cap for the car anyway, so shouldn't matter too much!

Below freezing here too, so I've been playing with switchgear inside in the warmth... Glad you're enjoying, thanks for watching! 👍
I used a big empty cardboard box on top of the trolley jack as my extra pair of hands to support the tank in place while I did up the straps.
Near that point me self
So Ta
I love your dry English wit and humour :)
Thank you! 😃

Thanks! 👍Yes, the videos do make things take a lot longer, but fortunately I enjoy doing them. It's good to know they're being appreciated too! 🙂
Great job installing the tank!!!👍☺
Thanks! 👍
Great video! Excellent work.
I've never found a useful job for a hot melt gun, although for some masochistic reason I keep thinking it'll work.
About the only use I've really found is to keep things together temporarily while the proper glue dries! 🤷♂️
Great video! Thanks for posting...
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Good job! Keep going sir.
Thanks! I'm too far in to stop now anyway 🙂
really enjoyed your videos, had you much experience before doing this restoration?cheers graham oakley
Thanks! Not really, just basic maintenance stuff mostly. I just figured the rest out as I went along. Still figuring it out now!

hi I noticed your filler neck doesn't have a built in side tank vent...what year is your tr7
It's a 1976. The early ones apparently didn't have the vent, they just vented through the breather hose.
hi was that nylock nuts used on tank straps?
It was, yes. I think that's the standard fitment, at least that's what came off when I took it apart!
I see you kept the 1970s hair too ...
It's a timeless classic.
Hi Red, Did you replace the fuel filler neck & the anti theft device ?
It never had an anti theft device and I wasn't able to find one to buy in time. But I've got a locking cap for the car anyway, so shouldn't matter too much!
Sorry, should have waited till the end of the video.
No worries!
