    I looking forward to seeing the whole loom coming together

      You and me both! I'll be taking my time with it though, I'm planning on doing it one section at a time rather than all in one go.

    wiring loom... the worst nightmare. no doubt you'll make it look easy - looking forward to part 2 (part 3? part 4?)

      I'll take that as a compliment! 😁
      I think the key is to break it down into one system at a time rather than trying to deal with it all at once. And yeah, I'm guessing there'll be more than two parts to this!

    I’m dreading starting mine.

      I'll probably regret starting it when I'm about halfway through and nothing works properly... but I enjoy the challenge!

    Clocks not working is that a surprise

    • @RedsGarageUK

      🤣 Actually, I did the modification to this clock a few years ago. So far, so good. But yeah, before I modified it it was almost useless.

    Great set of video’s with ample tips and tricks to restoring these under rated cars. Is there any chance you could send your digital version of the wiring loom and parts list you created to construct your own loom? This could make mine and no doubt many others chances of constructing our own looms far simpler, knowing exactly what type, colour, gauge and lengths of wires we would need. Keep up the good work.

      Definitely a good idea!
      I'll be starting work on the loom soon and I'll update as I go. Look out for future videos!
      As for the diagrams, happy to share that but bear in mind it's for a specific car (early UK/Euro model) and won't completely match eg later cars (different fuse box for one thing) or US models.
      I'll put my resources online in a month or two when they're a little more complete 👍

      @@RedsGarageUK that would be great.👍🏻 the diagram could be altered for specific models etc, but thanks to your hard work, it at least gives us all a starting point. Many thanks.🙂👍🏻

      Haha, in a weird way I'm looking forward to the challenge!

    And the people who modify looms like that are the ones who moan about "Lucas electrics"! 😄

    • @RedsGarageUK
      @RedsGarageUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only issues I've had with electrics on these old cars has been related to dodgy DIY wiring like that or indifferent maintenance (or age - but you can't really complain if the wiring 'only' lasts 40 years!). I've not really found Lucas stuff to be any more or less reliable than anything else of the era.

    Hi, good video ,am now in process of replacing entire front loom , got a new loom ,trouble is no fuse box ,so will need to use existing ,which is ok because it fits mounting bracket ? have you got to fuse box stage yet ,hot to remove existing loom from box,ta Ray

    • @RedsGarageUK
      @RedsGarageUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm just in the planning stages of remaking the loom, I'm adding in a few extras so I'm rebuilding from scratch. Fusebox isn't that complex (although I've got the earlier one with just 4 fuses) - I think you might be able to get a new fusebox separately if you haven't already?

    I hate doing electrics...made it look easy

    • @RedsGarageUK
      @RedsGarageUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyone seems to hate it... I don't actually mind it too much. Mind you, I've not tackled an electrics project of this scale before, so we'll see 😁
