Chris:, hoping you can help me brainstorm a solution. I'd like to use my iPhone 16 as a camera for a video podcast etc. To do that, I need to be able to use my iPhone 16 and the BlackMagic Camera App as a webcam in order to record video directly on the Mac or through Riverside app/web client etc. If I plug usb-c to usb-c it only works for the regular video app and not BM. I am also using a usb-c audio interface to record audio. Any help/suggestions/brainstorms is GREATLY appreciated!
I have seen a video using the clean HDMI out feed from the Blackmagic App and running it through a hdmi capture card. I don't have a hdmi capture card, so I can't test it myself. Perhaps this would work for you, but you would need to invest in a hdmi capture device if you don't have one already. Here is the video I am talking about: th-cam.com/video/prdIEOl5HMI/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps... good luck.
I use the Elgato EpocCam Pro for that purpose, so I can send a DSLR through a Camlink4K and an Iphone 16 Pro Max (With the mentioned EpocCam) to OBS and record with all my scenes so I switch from a Streamdeck while recording my tutorials. Hope that helps!
I didn't subscribe to Final Cut Pro for iPad, which you need to monitor Final Cut Camera on the iPhones. I am using Final Cut Pro on my Mac, which was a one time purchase several years ago. But the Blackmagic Camera App is free for all devices including the controlling device. After recording I can download the footage and use Multicam editing in Final Cut Pro on the Mac.
Great explainer vid! Thank you.
is there a way to control the camera on the phone with a laptop

@@chris_urra thanks! Worth doing this to use my iPhone or better to buy a cheap 4k mirrorless ?

Can we live stream with blackmagic camera app?
The problem is that this feature is only useful when setting up a shot. The minute you hit record the preview drops down to something like 5 fps.
it has a weird issue that when you will play the recorded video , it will have missing frames, or like small jump cuts
The Final Cut Cam app has the same issue.
Do you have to be connected to WiFi to get all the cameras to work together with whatever device is monitoring?
I had all the devices connected to the same WiFi.
@chris_urra hy, have a samsung galaxy s24 ultra and I didn't find the remote.
How did you find this compared to the Final Cut multicam?
