I’m a big fan of your photography and am lucky enough to shoot a Mamiya7, Hasselblad 500CM and a Nikon F3 among others. All of those I purchased before the incomprehensible rise in prices for those cameras. I shall always regret not purchasing a Hasselblad Xpan for £450 or an original M6 for £750 in 2005…. However; for you to suggest that this camera is going to make film photography so much more accessible to so many more people is more than something of a stretch. I’m sure the odd pro might take one on but I think they’ll stick with the MP, with most going to wealthy amateurs…
I respect your drive and work Joe... but calling the New Leica M6 accessible is a stretch at over $5k just for the body. It's still a good sign to see new film cameras coming out tho... exciting stuff!
I don’t think lack of cameras is the problem you can still find a mint M6 cheaper then the new ones. The problem is film. Would be happier if this video was about Kodak releasing more film stocks and increasing production.
they are but it takes time. price increase means that they are reinvesting into new manufacturing equipment to put out new stocks and hire more employees to see the demand
Great news that a camera manufacturer is bringing back a film camera. All we need now is for another camera maker to do the same, but at a price that we plebs can afford!
$5695 Leica MP $5295 Leica M6 reissue This changes everything? Best news is that it's not a limited edition, but it's not going to improve access at all.
Exactly. What does it change? Would you really prefer an M6 over an MP? Why? for the $400 cost savings and the different little cosmetic bits (winder, film advance, shutter dial?) Just because it's more recognized/common due to it's affordability over an MP on the used market? Is this even the TTL version? Not that I would use flash but that would be the only real functional difference between this and the MP. I sold my M6 15 years ago and picked up an MP when prices were much more reasonable. I actually prefer my M2 because of the single framelines and no distracting metering lights in the viewfinder. Cheers to Leica for still producing amazing film cameras as they have continuously been produced and available throughout the modern digital age. If this gets more people into film because it's somehow considered more desireable than an MP or MA I'm all for it. Also, great work Joe 👍
I’m so tempted to get one. I use the M7 and M10-R for personal work, but the beauty of this M6 surpasses the ease of use of an M7 every day. With the new viewfinder it should be as good. Considering the amount of work to build one and the pre-owned prices of mint M6s nowadays (around €3,500), the €5k seems fair. This will be a classic for decades to come…
It’s an expensive camera but if Leica is successful, who knows? Maybe we can see a new film Nikon or Pentax camera come out? Canon and Sony are pretty much out with E and RF lenses but if Leica is commercially successful it’s only a matter of when competitors come out with lower priced options!
Doubtful. If Nikon resurrected the F6, people would complain it should've been the F3 or FM3A, or if they brought back the FM3A, then the AF crowd would be upset. Most film camera manufacturers have long since burned their bridges and doubtless gotten rid of the tools necessary to produce 35mm bodies of any sort. Leica only survived the mass extinction of film camera production because it happened to continue making small batch M bodies for an already niche market. They got lucky with the resurgence of film and good on them for continuing to produce 35mm cameras. That said, I'd hardly call Leica accessible, at least from the point of view of buying new.
^^ You warm me up ^^ I recently buy my 1st Leica but m4 to find out if it is camera for me ;3 Maybe m6 in future ^^ cheers, going to Your gallery right now ;3
Every time I found a M6 and had a think about it, it disappeared, I watched the prices climb and climb, in the end I bought a Nikon F3 HP and a Contax G1, film is scarce here, but I feel now the chance to get a new M6 is good. So maybe now is the time. 🥳
Not to disparage the M6 in any way, and I am glad it has been rereleased, but the new MP (which I own) and MA have been available for many years now. (It's not like a photographer couldn't get a new Leica film camera is all I am saying; they have always been available new.) I think the M6 has remained popular because of the light meter, which is extremely helpful and the reason I sold my M4-P. Would have to say the M3 is the most iconic Leica, though. That's why I love my MP, as it combines the best qualities of the M3 and the M6. Mechanical Perfection... with an internal light meter. Happy shooting to all!
@Joe Greer Amazing Content here. I love how in 3 minutes your give a tibute to the M6 and the soul of analog photography at all. BTW - what Lenshood (Part-Nr.) is it you use on the Summicron ? Keep up the amazin work !
It's quite inspiring. Leica could also produce affordable 35mm "Leitz" film to back up and augment the new M6 promotion. Film costs are an increasing impost for passionate analog photographers. If there really is a serious sustained film revolution going on, film costs must at least stabilise in price with competition and increasing demand.

Thank you Leica AG, for reproduct M6, Now i feel me MP-240 interesting again, and don't want to switch to Panasonic system~
I respect your drive and work Joe... but calling the New Leica M6 accessible is a stretch at over $5k just for the body. It's still a good sign to see new film cameras coming out tho... exciting stuff!
This is huge & inspiring!
I don’t think lack of cameras is the problem you can still find a mint M6 cheaper then the new ones. The problem is film. Would be happier if this video was about Kodak releasing more film stocks and increasing production.
Exactly my thoughts too!
they are but it takes time. price increase means that they are reinvesting into new manufacturing equipment to put out new stocks and hire more employees to see the demand
This is exciting and no better modern day Leica ambassador than Joe.
Great news that a camera manufacturer is bringing back a film camera. All we need now is for another camera maker to do the same, but at a price that we plebs can afford!
$5695 Leica MP
$5295 Leica M6 reissue
This changes everything?
Your composition is top-notch
Incredible!! He didn't mugged and got his leica stolen.
Hey Joe. Missed u man!
Thank-you for posting. I wonder what flash unit and cord you are using at about 2:15 of the video. Cheers from Canada
This was an awesome vid, great seeing so many of your photos at once
I’m so tempted to get one. I use the M7 and M10-R for personal work, but the beauty of this M6 surpasses the ease of use of an M7 every day. With the new viewfinder it should be as good. Considering the amount of work to build one and the pre-owned prices of mint M6s nowadays (around €3,500), the €5k seems fair. This will be a classic for decades to come…
hi, thank you for the review. Which lens is the best with the new M6? thank you.
it is the first time to know Leica m6 can be used for selfie hah super cool
Man the sound of the filming winding gets me every time. Beautiful camera and love your work Joe
bout to get m6 tattooed on my body... lets go.
Great work and story.
Wow wow wow. Joe, this is absolutely ridiculously beautiful. Love your speech. All the images. Wonderful video. Just wonderful.
What was this video shot on? Camera and lenses?
Man I came for the Leica and discovered your work, such a fantastic work!

New follower here! Love your work.
Love ur work ❤
Hi Joe ~ what kind of flash you're used in this video?
I second this question
Every time I found a M6 and had a think about it, it disappeared, I watched the prices climb and climb, in the end I bought a Nikon F3 HP and a Contax G1, film is scarce here, but I feel now the chance to get a new M6 is good. So maybe now is the time. 🥳
Joe love your videos and your strap! Where can i buy it? Thanks, greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
Cmon nikon join the club and reannounce the f3, join the club , it'll sell like hotcakes
Let’s fricking GO!!! 🤘🏼
Why M6 and not a MP?
Everything about this video is so beautiful. Thanks
Just do it. Nike.
Just go broke. Leica.
How is the M6 2022 different to original M6 TTL?
what camera was this video filmed on?
What camera bag is this you use?
Not to disparage the M6 in any way, and I am glad it has been rereleased, but the new MP (which I own) and MA have been available for many years now. (It's not like a photographer couldn't get a new Leica film camera is all I am saying; they have always been available new.) I think the M6 has remained popular because of the light meter, which is extremely helpful and the reason I sold my M4-P. Would have to say the M3 is the most iconic Leica, though. That's why I love my MP, as it combines the best qualities of the M3 and the M6. Mechanical Perfection... with an internal light meter. Happy shooting to all!
amazing video! same with me. my leica mp is my be all, end all camera. i would love to know what brand your bag is joe? thanks
Well done!
Well said, well made.
@Joe Greer Amazing Content here. I love how in 3 minutes your give a tibute to the M6 and the soul of analog photography at all.
BTW - what Lenshood (Part-Nr.) is it you use on the Summicron ?
Keep up the amazin work !
I like that leather strap. How do I get one ?
love your work Joe, keep it up!
Killing it!
Magnifique 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🙌🔥
