John Deere 2155 - Thermostat overheating

  • Our John Deere 2155 has had overheating issues. The thermostat was stuck and needed to be replaced.
Update: After thermostat was replaced and the temperature sensor...we had to replace the pump. Some of the 2155s have a plastic impeller that will disintegrate over time. Replacing the water pump requires taking the radiator off. Do not try to remove the water pump without removing the radiator. We also added an external temperature sensor because the gauge in the cluster was bad as well. Runs like a champ now though...6 hours bush hogging with a 6' bush hog in 95 degree temperature.

My Alternator recently failed and I noticed my engine temp gauge was near hot. The tractor was running at low 11 volts, which affected the gauge display. Crazy I know, but check your voltage off of alternator too, running should be around 14Vdc. Thank you for video. I recently repaired the Rocker Shaft assy. Load sensing spring broke :-(

Where is the needle supposed to sit in normal operation. I have friend who replaced the thermostat but it's still overheating.

We ended up replacing the thermostat with an independent one (not part of the electronics cluster) and having the water pump pulled and replaced.

    Hi MR. Beauzero!
Maybe you can send me a radiator expansion tank OEM number (code)?

Sorry there isn't a code on the tank and I don't have the proper book to give you the part code.
