I work in Germany for the past 15 months. I strongly recommend my fellow indians not to come to germany coz of complex bureacracy and racism. Please look elsewhere if you get other options. Only come when you dont have any other opputunity. It is true that germany pay bit more than other EU and cost of living is Ok. But langauge bullying, racism and buracracy is real bad (germans will beat you by hovering in grey area). YOU WILL ALWAYS BE LOOKED AT WITH DISGUST. I lived in Jena and presently in Halle which are den for racism in Germany. This country is a scam. The Auslanderbehorde wont even reply to you and make you wait like a begger. They also get oral instructions reg blue card and settlement petmits from govt and do not always go by rule book. Basically they want young and cheap workers.
I have been living in Germany for last 5 years. Haven't encountered a single incident of racism. I find people here to be warm and welcoming. There was a time where I couldn't speak German but my supervisor and colleagues would switch to English. Of course, if you know the language then it is much easier. Canada has taken in many Indians as international students and "temporary foreign workers" - a nice word for cheap foreign labour. The students are used as cheap foreign labour as well. It makes it hard for Canadian citizens to get into entry level jobs now.
There's no cheap labor. Without having a valid job contract which satisfies the skilled work visa salary requirements, one cannot work in Germany. Also there is work council which controls work hours etc. strictly.
But where are jobs? I am German Indian with so called highly skilled.... Not many jobs... Low salaries Qualified and skilled engineers can very well in India.
In Germany shortage is there in Railways, hospitals, foreign office, tax office,driving licence etc where it takes more time to get appointment.. but this places it is difficult to jobs for Indians.. Indians can get job only in IT companies but this companies not hiring much.. 😢

I came back to India after living in Germany for 12 years. From infrastructure to tolerance has deteriorated in Germany over the last 10 years. Poor salaries, high taxes, rent, bills will eat away everything you earn. Public transport/DB is a national embarrassment, you cannot get appointments with medical specialists for over 8 months, AFD sprouting everywhere and the ausländerbehörde works like a concentration camp. I got yelled at for not speaking German. I am happy to be back in India. Some nice roads and buildings will not make you feel at home.

Germany is a lovely country. But beware of opportunities. This is not 1990s. If you are skilled and with experience, you will earn and save 2 times higher money in India. But if for other reasons or exposure, its great country to explore. Germans are direct but good at heart. Don't annoy them and know your limitations. Be respectful and learn local language and culture. You will never become German but you can have good memories.
@edmaximum Being German and German citizens are two different things. Passport is document that gives you rights and privelege. Being a German is being looked and acknowledged by local as German. This won't happen because there is no integration effort from both sides. I love Germans but I have to be truthful.

Do you think an Indian with an Indian accent (or a Brazilian with a Brazialian accent) when speaking the local language would be looked at the same way as a native speaker? Try Sweden, Ireland, Spain and even the US... if you have an accent and don't share the same exact culture, you'll always be a "bit" different. The only alternative is staying in your native country. That's perfectly fine. But it's not a German issue.
The only shortage is in Blue Collar jobs like Construction, Plumbing and meat processing etc. Check the Agentur für Arbeit report about labour shortage, it mentions the blue collar jobs. Your salary in these jobs will never be high enough to get a Blue card, meaning you will always have a temporary status. You wont save enough due to high europeans taxes. If you need to leave you will have to start your life again with zero in India.
Germany needs to address many issues for expats coming from India like housing shortage, kindergarten, schools, low salaries, doctor appointments n etc
Also what i noticed is that most if not all of the German companies or foreign companies in Germany only have Germans and Europeans on the top level positions. Like CEO, and other senior positions. No Indians and any other from Asia or Africa even though they know the German language. The job growth is almost non-existent here with no promotions and annual pay rise. This doesn't happen in countries like teh United States or UK or Australia.
As long as they can’t speak German, they should reconsider coming here. Many of my Indian friends ended up returning to India. There’s a limited number of English-speaking jobs, even in tech, while German-speaking roles are more abundant and often come with higher pay. I’m specifically talking about opportunities for graduates, not blue-collar work. It’s relatively easy to find blue-collar jobs, like warehouse work or other manual labor, even if you don’t speak German.
Nothing wrong in doing blue collared job.. It can be a platform to put your skills and also learn language.. I was doing blue collared job and was earning close to 2.5lakhs post taxes.. later put my skills in data analytics to optimise logistics.. got a good raise.. It all depends on individuals.

Doing a blue collared job gets you paid close to 2.5 lakhs post taxes (depending on job) and you can live in a better place than India.. It's a win win situation in most cases.. As you mentioned, language learning plays a key role or you will be embarrassed many times which can get demotivating over time..

I have to say, Germany is the last place I would want to work. The bureaucracy and racism are two big issues to be mindful of. I’ve transited through Germany twice , I had bad experiences during both times, where I was treated unfairly based solely on my appearance. I was singled out for additional checks while others were let through with no issue, and the police questioned me just because I’m a dark skinned Indian.
I'm a German citizen of Indian origin, born in India brought up in Germany. My advice don't go to Germany, I moved back to my Homeland 4 years ago and I have never regretted a second. Please invest your knowledge and resources onto the development of your own homeland! Going to Germany will destroy you.....

And appeal to German government also for illegal immigrants you give them full facilities per month they get enough from our tax money to live a good life without working plus free language courses. While the legal immigrants who come here work hard earn every penny by deserving it where are the facilities. International students are facing difficulties to get job here and now you want to bring more. Tell your conpanies to hire people with conditions to get German fluent in 2-3 years while arranging the classes this way you solve problems.

These sectors have shortage because government pay them less than if they don't work they get even more money. I don't see sense. My neighbour is nurse her salary was to less she quit without working she is getting more money 😅 Here enough people are already available but government doesn't pay enough. If you are planning to do a blue-collar job in Germany, you should come. However, if you are planning to do a white-collar job, I highly suggest you reconsider your choices. If you are making over ₹20 lakhs/year in India, don't come to Germany. Your skills will not be valued. It will be difficult for you to get promoted. You will have no social life in Germany as German society is a very depressing individualistic society.

I came back to India after living in Germany for 12 years. From infrastructure to tolerance has deteriorated in Germany over the last 10 years. Poor salaries, high taxes, rent, bills will eat away everything you earn. Public transport/DB is a national embarrassment, you cannot get appointments with medical specialists for over 8 months, AFD sprouting everywhere and the ausländerbehörde works like a concentration camp. I got yelled at for not speaking German. I am happy to be back in India. Some nice roads and buildings will not make you feel at home.

Germany is a lovely country. But beware of opportunities. This is not 1990s. If you are skilled and with experience, you will earn and save 2 times higher money in India. But if for other reasons or exposure, its great country to explore. Germans are direct but good at heart. Don't annoy them and know your limitations. Be respectful and learn local language and culture. You will never become German but you can have good memories.

This won't happen because there is no integration effort from both sides. I love Germans but I have to be truthful.

The only shortage is in Blue Collar jobs like Construction, Plumbing and meat processing etc. Check the Agentur für Arbeit report about labour shortage, it mentions the blue collar jobs. Your salary in these jobs will never be high enough to get a Blue card, meaning you will always have a temporary status. You wont save enough due to high europeans taxes. If you need to leave you will have to start your life again with zero in India.

Also what i noticed is that most if not all of the German companies or foreign companies in Germany only have Germans and Europeans on the top level positions. Like CEO, and other senior positions. No Indians and any other from Asia or Africa even though they know the German language. The job growth is almost non-existent here with no promotions and annual pay rise. This doesn't happen in countries like teh United States or UK or Australia.

I have to say, Germany is the last place I would want to work. The bureaucracy and racism are two big issues to be mindful of. I’ve transited through Germany twice , I had bad experiences during both times, where I was treated unfairly based solely on my appearance. I was singled out for additional checks while others were let through with no issue, and the police questioned me just because I’m a dark skinned Indian.
I'm a German citizen of Indian origin, born in India brought up in Germany. My advice don't go to Germany, I moved back to my Homeland 4 years ago and I have never regretted a second. Please invest your knowledge and resources onto the development of your own homeland! Going to Germany will destroy you.....

In Germany shortage is there in Railways, hospitals, foreign office, kita, kindergarten, tax office,driving licence etc where it takes more time to get appointment.. but this places it is difficult to jobs for Indians.. Indians can get job only in IT companies but this companies not hiring much.. 😢
These sectors have shortage because government pay them less than if they don't work they get even more money. I don't see sense. My neighbour is nurse her salary was to less she quit without working she is getting more money 😅
