if it helps to get you a one up in you tube awards, i will vote for you, you've not only educate, but open my mind to alternative and cost saving lighting methods, thanks for sharing, god bless
For the pegboard led installation it would be easier and better to only loop the data wire from first to last and feed the power parallel down so that every strip is directly connected to the "3 port wago" at the beginning. this way the voltage wont drop along the way and make the brightness/colors fade.
Thats a really great idea! Thanks for sharing. I never even though of that but it would also mean I wouldn't have to do as much soldering. Love it and thanks for the great tip!
Mar the smooth metal surfaces with 220 grit sandpaper before you superglue. The scratches and grooves created give the superglue something to grab onto, increasing the lateral stress failure point. This trick helps with most glues or epoxy.
Thanks for the reply! That does make sense! In my mind I was like there is no reason why 2 wires twisted together in one slot would not work but i didn't know for sure if there was a major reason why it shouldn't be done!
This is elite... I have no words man, you did an absolutely amazing job! thank you for being very thorough, im hoping to recreaete some of this for my own place some day
These are some great ideas. One thought though would have been for the lamp is to use a smart bulb and an optional smart button, and then just pull the chain, leave it on, and tuck it away. Set the button to control the bulb, and then mount the button on the lamp. Much less soldering required.
Thanks so much for watching and glad you liked the projects! That's a really good idea! Anytime there is an option for less soldering, I'm a fan lol. I don't mind soldering and its easier than I initially thought but its still somewhat time consuming! Thanks for sharing the great idea!
I was just going through some of Your RGB projects for some ideas around my House and i love the Corner plex piece you created im thinking of doing something on the Hallway / Stairs but dont want to over do it but i'm defo going to try a corner plex though Thanks Chris as always !
Amazing makeover Chris. I love your projects so much, you are so creative. I wish these products were cheap in my country so i can makeover my room too. Keep it up!
You can do these kind of makeovers, even if the usual products are expensive, there should always be an alternative that, with a little effort, can do the same thing. Also try not to set your expectations too high, even if it’s half as good as this, that is still a really good setup.
The OCD in me is wishing you would move those LED bars up one row, so the number of open rows between the lights and the upper and lower frame is equal. :D
You could have just used a nut and bolt to hold the channel brackets on. Add a washer to the backside and it wound pull through over time if they are heavy.
The Sunmory lamps have doubled in price. I bet it was because they started sell a bunch of them to people who watched your videos 😆 that is actually pretty cool. 😎
Thanks for watching as always! What country are you in? I just clicked on the link and they are still the same price here in the US at least. Around 70 to 80 dollars depending on the color.
Awesome job. Yeah I’m sure you’ve already been told by now but I’m my experience epoxy is the most difficult to apply but gives best results to attach anything permanently.
Brilliant, beautiful, great video, brother👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👌🏽🤟🏽🙏🏽..very useful, helpful and wonderfully done. After being devastated and used by a horrible female.. three times differently back to back and losing my 4 month old son and my mother.. ..Im trying to put whats left of my mind and heart into something other than gaming.. redoing my bedroom and living room modern and with the govee lighting and same ideas and concepts.. ..god bless, thanks for the work and video 🙏🏽

my friend, you dont have to use neither a magnet nor a screw to fasten the Al strips.. just take a telephone/RX cable wires or even the plastic tie to hold the light strip.
Yooo Great mann, You inspired me to buy WS2812B Led for my desk setup, Thanks for all your tutorials, every project is innovative and well explained. Thankyou soo much.
@@ChrisMaherDIY Thank you sir! I am so excited to put the corner led lamps together. The number of subscribers you have is criminal. I may not have a ton of followers on Instagram but I will be sure to shout you out once I post final results. Please keep creating!!!
Very cool change, and thank you for all the explanations! I've had good luck with epoxy and metal in the past, but I wonder if you could just... tie the clips to the board? I imagine some ribbon or something might actually do the trick, but I might be oversimplifying it!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! You know I never thought of that but you probably could use something to tie them down! Love to always hear other ideas on how things could be done. Thanks for the great suggestion!
Wow love the corner led lighting! I am currently redoing my apartment living room and there's no ceiling lights etc so I have to use lamp and what ever I come up with and this video has some nice ideas. I particularly like lights 2 and 4 going up the corners!
Great channel. Love your imagination. I’m always looking for new ideas to integrate WLED into my lighting projects. Side note. It is not pronounced “X specially”. It’s pronounced Eh specially. (especially). Cheers
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! You for sure could use a light bulb and it would definitely be easier! The only thing you would lose is that gradient type effect that you get with strips since light bulbs (as far as i'm aware of) are still only to just display one color at a time.
Hey, found this video today. such a good piece of work. I was looking for a guide to start and found this one. I just want to ask how many esp's do you have in your room and how they synced together? Secondly from where you get the code for these esp's. It will be helpful if you can answer.
NGL... kinda miss them BOSS plaid couches ... hahahah!! JK! Brother, I just love your vid's! IDK if I've ever mentioned to you in previous chats, but somehow, you videos ALWAYS seem for fill an info gap i have in a about to launch project, or planning for a future project - its literally getting close to the neighborhood of half of ur how-to's (except the wiring/solder ones, been soldering and doing reflow work for many many moons as my side hustle has been cell & tablet repair, as well as the originator of my side hustle career - all manner of laptop and pc repair for a decade or ... 3? lol). What you have done to your media room, i am doing to my living room, and now combined media room as well😁 So, again, a big thank you for all of your efforts and tinkering for the case, and an even BIGGER shoutout to the significant other, to which none of this would have been possible without their blessing and support! Cheers!!
Thanks! That is a good idea and would be very easy to do! I could be wrong but I dont think i've seen a lightbulb that is able to have multiple different led colors on at once like the leds strips are able to do? Do you know of any that is able to create a gradient like look with just one bulb?!
@@ChrisMaherDIY The only bulbs that I know that can do multiple things and colors at once are the party bulbs. Though there are color change bulbs that you can vary colors including cycling through. Though who knows. Wiring is definitely simpler with just screwing it in though
hi community! im an 12 year old from germany. is there any alternatives of the spottles diffuser because in german amazon 10 2 meter diffuser cost around 500 till 600 bucks.
Nice vid bro. for my plan I'm going to make a 75 inch + 18/19 + 25 = 118/119 inches in total L shape desk In my room cause it would fit really good and It'll look clean.
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I have used these before and they are amazing! amzn.to/3AuAs69 Here is the project that I did using these: th-cam.com/video/b13VLiK7AOU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks so much for watching! Its called a daybed with trundle. Super comfy! I cant remember exactly where we got this but here is one that is similar: amzn.to/3E2dhBS
Lol it is the best! Its called a daybed with trundle. I'm not exactly sure where we got this one (it was a while ago) but here is something that is similar! amzn.to/3hmD3su
Thanks so much for watching and yes they were painted. They are almost white but almost more of an egg shell color. Leds always look best when having a white surface to reflect off of!
project 1: absolutely I dislike that soldering to controller. I would use dupont connectors even if I had to cramp them without dedicated tool. I have done it before and there are only three plugs to make. screws and wood cubes? why not ordinary bolt nut and washer? if screw was too long i would cut it down to fit. Overall - I do like the project. Great work!
Thanks so much for watching! Yeah the DuPont connectors do work well! I've used those a lot in my earlier videos. It was just that the wires were so tiny that I didn't necessarily trust them but at the same time, I never had any issues with them so who knows.
Hey Chris, Could you explain to me why you wouldn't recommend to use the silicon coated LEDS for the stand up lighting? Is this due to heat or diffusion issues? Or is it fine to use just not preferred? Many thanks, awesome project!
Thanks so much for watching! Great question! If you are referring to the project in the right back corner, then I would not use the ones with silicon. The only reason I wouldn't is because when I drilled the little holes, the individual leds fit in the circles which is what I was wanting. If there was the silicone on the strips, they would not fit in the holes if that makes sense. Other than that, there is nothing wrong with the silicone leds at all and certainly a time and place for them!
Love your videos. In this video what are you using for the screen? Is that a TV? Or a projector screen and projector? And do you have links to those products?
Thanks so much for watching and glad you are liking the videos! Its an old projector with a basic 100" white screen pull down. Here is the link to the projector: amzn.to/3FMu1yD The projector worked out great but just recently trying out new 4k UST projectors and wow what a difference. But its one of those things that you dont realize your missing when you dont have it lol.
it would be even better if you push your speakers out of the way of your projector screen and do not block it with the speaker (also a wider front soundstage is allways better and you have space to the left and right for that) another question would be if you watch something on the screen with the couch on the side wall instead of in front of the screen?
Yeah I do need to move the speakers for sure. I mostly listen to music down here as i prefer my tv for movies thats upstairs. Also the basement is also a play room for the kids so having the couch to the side creates a lot more open spaces for the kids to run around. But if I do watch a movie, i just move the daybed to the middle and push it back when done. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Thanks! I'm just using WLED installed on an esp device. Super easy to do: th-cam.com/video/TOEnFKLm9Sw/w-d-xo.html and then they have a sync feature where you can control them all at once via the app.

Mar the smooth metal surfaces with 220 grit sandpaper before you superglue. The scratches and grooves created give the superglue something to grab onto, increasing the lateral stress failure point. This trick helps with most glues or epoxy.

Thanks so much buddy! Yeah its a fun little hobby and not too time consuming! Once you start though, its hard to stop lol!
Great channel. Love your imagination. I’m always looking for new ideas to integrate WLED into my lighting projects. Side note. It is not pronounced “X specially”. It’s pronounced Eh specially. (especially). Cheers
The LED lamp hack looks great but how would the lighting be if you just used a Govee RGB bulb instead?
crazy
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Glad you liked the video!
@@ChrisMaherDIY u gave me and my dad some new ideas cause we love to build stuff like that on our own, watched the whole 60min. Ty
@@Beni-zl4bf Man that is a commitment to watch the entire thing! lol but thank you! It is a fun little hobby!
Great job, just wondering, could u just use an RGB light bulb instead of the strip and hard wiring it? Maybe much easier. But great job!
3? lol).
What you have done to your media room, i am doing to my living room, and now combined media room as well😁
So, again, a big thank you for all of your efforts and tinkering for the case, and an even BIGGER shoutout to the significant other, to which none of this would have been possible without their blessing and support!
Cheers!!
Lol sometimes I do miss them as well! Thanks so much for the kind words! Appreciate the support buddy!
Inspiring…
It s Beautifull bro 😍😍
Thanks so much bro! Appreciate the support!
It went from cozy to Ikea room showcase.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Lol so true!
For the lamp, there are LED RGB bulbs that screw in and have a remote.
Maybe try useing apoxy rison in as a difuser.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I really do want to try that at some point! Thanks for the great idea!
hi community! im an 12 year old from germany. is there any alternatives of the spottles diffuser because in german amazon 10 2 meter diffuser cost around 500 till 600 bucks.
Does both board you listed have the chase feature and what did you use for a power source you didn’t list it
Hey how are you displaying the images on your TV. I'd love that while Im listening to music.
Also what are you using for a visualizer for music
for the pegboard are all the lightstrips facing the same way
You showed hyperscape. I miss that game. Played it from birth to death
This video taught me you don't need the couch pointing directly at the tv for it to be practical.
to secure the peg board quicker and easier, what about 3m strips? you put screws anyway so it would still be secure?
Thanks for watching! That's a really good idea. I think that would work just fine. Thanks for the great suggestion!
add baking soda, or some other kind of powder to the superglue :)
Thanks so much for watching and for sharing the idea! I've never heard of that so I'll for sure have to give it a try!
Nice vid bro. for my plan I'm going to make a 75 inch + 18/19 + 25 = 118/119 inches in total L shape desk In my room cause it would fit really good and It'll look clean.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! That would look awesome! Good luck on the project!
Hey! I was wondering if you had any reccomendations for strips (I need about 65 feet) that have dedicated white leds?
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I have used these before and they are amazing! amzn.to/3AuAs69 Here is the project that I did using these: th-cam.com/video/b13VLiK7AOU/w-d-xo.html
try JB weld to hold the
Thanks for the recommendation! A few others have also said JB weld so it must be legit!
Where did you get that couch? It looks super comfortable
Thanks so much for watching! Its called a daybed with trundle. Super comfy! I cant remember exactly where we got this but here is one that is similar: amzn.to/3E2dhBS
Can u plz tell me where did u got this couch from, it looks super comfy
Lol it is the best! Its called a daybed with trundle. I'm not exactly sure where we got this one (it was a while ago) but here is something that is similar! amzn.to/3hmD3su
Did you paint the walls during the makeover? If so, what colors are they now?
Thanks so much for watching and yes they were painted. They are almost white but almost more of an egg shell color. Leds always look best when having a white surface to reflect off of!
@@ChrisMaherDIYThanks! I’m trying to transform my basement into a gaming room and I loved your setup!
project 1:
absolutely I dislike that soldering to controller.
Hey Chris,
Could you explain to me why you wouldn't recommend to use the silicon coated LEDS for the stand up lighting?
But its one of those things that you dont realize your missing when you dont have it lol.
it would be even better if you push your speakers out of the way of your projector screen and do not block it with the speaker (also a wider front soundstage is allways better and you have space to the left and right for that)
another question would be if you watch something on the screen with the couch on the side wall instead of in front of the screen?
Yeah I do need to move the speakers for sure. I mostly listen to music down here as i prefer my tv for movies thats upstairs. Also the basement is also a play room for the kids so having the couch to the side creates a lot more open spaces for the kids to run around. But if I do watch a movie, i just move the daybed to the middle and push it back when done. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Bet ur wife wakes up everyday n thinks "whats he going to do to our home this time" 😂
Love your projects bro but how are you syncing all the light ?
Thanks! I'm just using WLED installed on an esp device. Super easy to do: th-cam.com/video/TOEnFKLm9Sw/w-d-xo.html and then they have a sync feature where you can control them all at once via the app.
