Lian li responded to my message about the AIO clearance on the new Lian Li SUP 01. 76mm and the Arctic freezer 3 is 63mm with fans while most AIOs with fans are only 55mm with fans.
The whole point is better GPU induction and cooling which makes sense. When the GPU takes in air it blow it out the side, often then keeping the hot air inside the case. Having it mounted at the front gives the GPU better intake of air while expending out the mesh in the side of the case instead of over the motherboard and components, keeping the system cooler. What I would have liked to have seen, are two fans on the bottom drawing air up (instead of mirror) and fans (or 240mm AIO) mounted on top for exhaust, and mesh on both sides of the GPU as to expel its hot air directly out both sides.
@@bobvila4381 It's exhausted out the side.. It doesn't heat up the entire case much more than normal. GPU and CPU are your main components to keep cool
Naw, the whole point is the case is not deep enough to have the GPU horizontal. It HAS to be in the front. It just so happens thats a good thing and gets direct fresh intake.
Yes TTL! I see a clip of this case on Instagram and really like the look of it. Then I come to TH-cam and you've already got the review up! I'll get the kettle on...
WoW crazy design & nice review! I imagine it would be awesome to have 3 120mm fans at the front and a de-shrouded video card... Or one fitted with an AIO liquid cooling so you would had a 360 for the CPU and a 360 for the GPU on the back compartment!
I fail to see how this case is the final product, it looks like it's still a prototype stage. I already have a few ideas on how to give the case some actual airflow. You cannot rely on the GPU to disperse air (hot air) throughout the case. The case needs to have a proper intake. Why not even split the side panel vertically-or even horizontally and add a fan bracket to allow you to place intakes. My head just hurts. As for the back of the case, I quite like the idea of mounting stuff there, but at the same time, whatever you mount in there may not be as efficient. Can you use PCI expansion cards?
Why didn't you test it? like do a build in it?? Then you could confirm your suspensions, and let us know so we don't have to buy it first and find out for our self's? Your tile is called Review??
Really good design! No gpu sagging! I would put mesh also to left side, make it wider for air cooling. It would be ideal PC case! Then the ai would flow from left to right for cpu and from front to right for gpu! And from bottom to right for psu!
I got mine yesterday, it's amazing, what do you mean hilarious. It's a very small ATX case and very good use of space. Huge cases annoy me with lots of wasted empty space. The RGB is breight and looks great. And it looks amazing with the Galahad 2 Trinity Performance.
gpu at front the intake is hot by default while there's another chamber heating towards the cpu behind the motherboard... really genius and special case, don't forget the cpu socket also heats, the leds don't do miracles nor boost the mhz xD
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't graphics cards fans designed to be run positioned horizontally? Won't any sort of vertical orientation wear the bearings prematurely?
No. The worry here is improper operation of a "vapor chamber" design so some GPUs will have heat dissipation problems. The fans can be mounted in any orientation.
if there was ways to mount a few fans to the front then it could be interesting. While you wouldn't be able to use a air cooled GPU and fans. A water cooled GPU and fans should be possible. It would at that point be the complete little package.
Yes, actually! So your main option is the evo line from lian li. You can swap where the motherboard goes and mirror, or you can fully rotate the entire built chassis, it reconnects to the base, as well which would be intended for the left. There's another, I believe, on the tip of my tongue I can't remember lol.
I think i need to test it. When i see the fist photos, i was ... how it will get air from. I think Lian take the riser ok i guess. I think will look better being more rigid and parallel. I think a nice plexy part can clean a bit BUT that is the intake also. Maybe a way to add fans on top since the entire suction is on the back and more if you add 6 fans. some extras like perforated front like the back. and the lower also perforated. let see. i do like it. i think i can take the leap to get it when they arrive on stores on the us. I did tell my brother to try to get one when they put it get it
Bit of a "mad scientist" case, modders could have some fun I'm sure. Maybe some more time in the oven, weird to have dual chambers but no clear airflow solution for radiators. I can't see how to fix it without making it bigger. Maybe as a negative pressure case it works, someone is probably going to test every fan/radiator configuration and maybe that will yield some secrets.
This case is too tall, good idea bad execution. Mobo should be closer to back panel and psu should be over the pci riser with fan filtered taking air from outside. Also Corsair psu with connections on a side would be very useful.
The case is tall because the gpu length support needs to be long. Id rather have a tall case then a wide/long case because less surface area on my desk.
@@florinip1978 it’s either a tall case with the psu on top/bottom or a wide case with the psu on the side. The PSU needs to be on the bottom so they can run the display cables through the bottom of the case.
@@TheSjuris I guess you're right. Its just my taste, I don't like tall cases on the desk but this one has connections on the bottom so it has to go on desk 🤷♂️
Yeah, this would suck for efficient airflow/cooling and a positive pressure setup. Feels like things are just randomly slapped in there, with not thought towards the airflow pattern, and cooling efficiency. Seems like a lot of wasted intake/exhaust space, and like it would just cause uneven, turbulent air to swish around inside instead of a steady flow pattern. I mean, it doesn't actually look THAT cool. Certainly not worth the airflow inefficiency. I'm not really sure who this case would be for?
@@brennanIX Actually you are wrong... It is more for 4090 users that have massive amounts of 4090 exhaust heating up the entire case. It keeps the 4090 in the 50's while exhausting all that hot air before it cooks your whole PC. My traditional airflow 011 Dynamic case had 18 fans and every component had higher temps. The downside is the wiring is a real pain!
Hard pass for me. They just did something different for the sake of it. The case itself looks cheap imo. Lianli only seems to put out good cases when they collaborate with someone else, roman, ggf, dan case.
Lancool cases are great, I have to disagree on your take. They don't put something different "for the sake of it", they truely and actively work to innovate in the PC space. Sure this case isn't for you or many others, but some people appreciate different designs and approaches. "Looks cheap" well it's a subjective matter.
@eliadbu The lancool case were decent. I used a couple. The lancool 1 was not good, the lancool 2 was OK, and the 3 is where it became good. The 205 sold well for its time since competition was weak. Its whole gimmick was the 2 200mm fans that were blocked quite a bit. Nowadays, the monthech 903 max runs circles around it, and the 216 as well, which didn't sell as well because of stiffer competition. This sup 01 might not survive for long at its current price point or design.
I just traded out my 011 Dynamic case for this one and it looks and performs way better I would not go back... The SUP is super solid and heavy also, it is taller then wide so there is that.
This looks cool, but seems like it would be a TERRIBLE setup in terms of performance and airflow efficiency. Feels like a random Mashup of mismatched ideas. Like they scraped up all the leftover prototypes and ideas, and slapped this together.
The Lian Li design team must have been intoxicated when they designed this. Perhaps the most illogical design I can remember. Wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.
Well I wouldn't take advice from you then because this is the best performing case you can get for an air cooled 4090 but the wiring is atrocious I will give you that!

Make a front distro plate that is also the GPU water cooling block. That would be 10/10

This case is hilarious. Points for innovation but not for me. New designs are always a good thing, hate to see the same case over and over
You'd think once they got to the point where they were bolting fans to the outside of the case they would think, "hey, maybe this is all wrong".
It seems like exactly what I was looking for 😂 need an atx case with less desk space for my hybrid gpu

can you mount the gpu in the traditional spot and put a radiator on the front?
No room, unles it is really tiny nvidia 1030 style small..
How do you plug your display cables to the graphics card?
Same question here
You run the cable along the bottom, inside the PSU shroud, and out the small grommet in the back next to the PSU mount. He goes over it at 14:32.
