It's totally amazing how the human brain works, and this proves it! I haven't seen these commercials since they had aired back in the late 70's, and had basically forgotten them, and yet, I still remember them. Something as simple as a 30 second commercial. It's really awesome! Thanks Dave for preserving my past!

Frightening how we are programmed by the propaganda. Imagine what else you were force fed by the media back in the 1970s that is now subconsciously molding your personality and driving your behavior. Frightening.

PilotVBall Programmed? We didn’t buy any of these products with maybe the exception of Folger’s. If we were “programmed” to buy them, they failed.

Man. I was 9 years old in 1978 and I remember pretty much every commercial in this video even though I haven't seen them in decades.
Though, I do have somewhat mixed feelings over seeing them again these days. While it does bring back fond, nostalgic memories of myself as a kid, sitting in front of the tv watching my favorite cartoons, movies, and tv shows, it also serves to bring up memories of my poverty and hunger around the same time.
You see, we were dirt poor. We could hardly afford groceries. Hunger was a constant companion. So, more often than not, I was watching tv with a growling, empty belly. Seeing food scenes in movies and TV shows, and tv commercial advertisements for various food products would drive me up a wall.
Cool whip, nestea iced tea, sealtest ice cream, stove stop stuffing, etc, while watching the tv commercials for them, I recall wishing I could have the privilege of feeding my face with those food products, among many others, to put in my stomach.

Adjusting for inflation though, $9292 in 1978 is approximately $36,740.03 in 2020. Which means it’s roughly the same price. Maybe even a bit *more* expensive back then.
I’m always amused when people look through rose-tinted glasses, and think things were actually cheaper.

@Donald Porter The thing is, anyone over age 25 remembers landlines being the norm. And by extension, busy signals, as most people didn’t (yet) have call waiting and voicemail. The majority of people didn’t even have cell phones until the new millennium.
So most of the people absorbed into their smartphones, Generation Z excluded, remembers these times. I think what we gained probably far outweighs what we might have lost with new technology, for the most part.
