So a key reminder to myself in conducting ANOVA would be the assumption
of normal distribution in the variables and of equal N values for each
level of independent variable?

Very helpful! I chose factorial ANCOVA for my design and I was trying to determine what to do to check for Type 1 errors. It is evident that equal sample sizes are Tukey HSD and unequal are Bonferroni Correction. Thanks Dr. Grande.

Hey Todd! What if you would like to find the p-value between Individual male to all others (Individual female, group male, group female and so on), and then Individual female to all others, Group male to all others and so on?
I mean that, because I can do it using pairwise comparisons, but I want avoid type I error (or can I just do it using fisher-bonferroni?). Great videos btw. Tnks in advance.

Please help Todd. I did a one way ANOVA in SPSS and in the pairwise comparison section of the spss output it showed sig. differences between some of the groups but in the homogenous subset table it grouped all the groups into one homogenous subset. How can this be? If there are sig. differences in the pairwise comparison eg. group 1 is sig. different to group 2 how can the analysis then put group 1 and 2 into the same homogenous subset. Is there an explanation for this?

I want to compare the concentration of a molecule in different tissues from the same subjects. in spss I put a column for the subject and the other columns for the concentration in the different tissues. the concentration does not follow a normal distribution. I tried the arithmetic transformation (Log10, square root, ....) it did not give a normal distribution for all the groups. is there another method of transformation of data to make them normal. and haw can I interpret the results.
