So I slept in my parents bed every night for two years to make sure they were safe and that whatever got my dog didn’t get them too. I was constantly on edge at night for too many years. It’s led to insomnia in adulthood. I hope the little girl has a happy and peaceful life from now on.

Sadly these experiences can be heartbreaking and traumatic but no matter how old we get or how far we try to push it down. They will always be our clearst memories. Is the child from his 1st marriage? Yes it IS most likely someone that knows him. Either ex, or a disgruntled co-worker, seems most plausible. Why does the ex need a copy of the death certificate? The cops should look into her financial insurance records to see if there is a policy taken out before their divorce. The wife is suspect as well, if she has anything to hide financially. It is horrible to look at people you "love" and wonder if you ever "knew" them at all. The child will NOT forget what she experienced. She needs some play therapy NOW, to enable her to start to process her emotions. The longer the mom waits, the more damage to that child.
Yes... asking for a death certificate usually means someone is seeking to collect on a life insurance claim if there is one to claim. I'm so sorry for this family. I just lost my husband recently, and the ex ended up getting all of his life insurance policies. We weren't married long, so he didn't get a chance to switch things over. All the ex had to do was get a death certificate, and she got everything.
If he and his ex had children together, depending on their custody agreement (if they had to make decisions together, like getting passports for the kids, for example) she would need a copy of his death certificate. Needing it for insurance or social security is common as well. I don’t think it’s an odd thing to request if she has minor children with him. I think it’s odder that the wife feels some sort of way about it, especially if he has children with his ex. It comes off as if she’s only considering her kids and not all of his children. Plus, why would she plaster her child all over the news and jeopardize her daughter’s safety by making a point to go public about her remembering what she saw. Go to the police and a grief specialist sure, but not the news. That could make her daughter a target for tying up loose ends.

Is the child from his 1st marriage? Yes it IS most likely someone that knows him. Either ex, or a disgruntled co-worker, seems most plausible. Why does the ex need a copy of the death certificate? The cops should look into her financial insurance records to see if there is a policy taken out before their divorce. The wife is suspect as well, if she has anything to hide financially. It is horrible to look at people you "love" and wonder if you ever "knew" them at all.
The child will NOT forget what she experienced. She needs some play therapy NOW, to enable her to start to process her emotions. The longer the mom waits, the more damage to that child.
Yes... asking for a death certificate usually means someone is seeking to collect on a life insurance claim if there is one to claim. I'm so sorry for this family. I just lost my husband recently, and the ex ended up getting all of his life insurance policies. We weren't married long, so he didn't get a chance to switch things over. All the ex had to do was get a death certificate, and she got everything.
If he and his ex had children together, depending on their custody agreement (if they had to make decisions together, like getting passports for the kids, for example) she would need a copy of his death certificate. Needing it for insurance or social security is common as well. I don’t think it’s an odd thing to request if she has minor children with him. I think it’s odder that the wife feels some sort of way about it, especially if he has children with his ex. It comes off as if she’s only considering her kids and not all of his children. Plus, why would she plaster her child all over the news and jeopardize her daughter’s safety by making a point to go public about her remembering what she saw. Go to the police and a grief specialist sure, but not the news. That could make her daughter a target for tying up loose ends.

That's so sad. My mom died 2 days after my 3rd birthday (due to abuse/metal health neglect). I was there when the ambulance took her away. I've dealt with horrible PTSD since. I never want a child to suffer like that.

Whoever did this has zero respect for human life. I'm not so sure that getting on national television, announcing to the world that this little girl remembers her daddy's murder, simply bcuz of they person or persons that killed him may get nervous now & worry that this little girl can get them caught & may decide the best course of action is to get the little girl & do away w/her. If he was an HR executive at Microsoft I'd imagine he's fired a lot of people over the years. That's where I'd investigate if I were a detective working on this case. Also, publicly exhibiting his ex-wife as a possible suspect with no evidence to back it up is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
