I feel like if SPM gets a remake it might need to change a handful of things. the story is great but in full honesty as someone who cherishes the game so much as it was my first paper mario game (yeah, great intro into the series right), the gameplay is like. lacking. or at least it becomes super unbalanced. stunlock jumping on bosses or Bowser + Carrie = win, just needs a bit... more to it.
The only thing I’m more hype about than Super Mario RPG and Thousand Year Door being remade is that MAYBE they’ll realize people want more traditional RPGs and not the Sticker Star garbage or the Origami King blandness.

It’s a good timeline but not the best timeline. In the best timeline we’d have 4 Paper Mario games after TTYD that carried on in the style of the original two.

It took me until this video to realize "Rawk Hawk" sounds suspiciously like "Raw [SYNONYM FOR ROOSTER]," and now I can't be sure if the localization team did that on purpose or not.

Yeah I might buy this Watched a Lets Play as a kid like 15 years ago and thought it looked fun, I remember a vague outline of the story but it’s probably been long enough that I’d enjoy playing it myself
It really adds to the pop up book aesthetic! That’s what I’ve missed from the series! The characters being sheets of paper is nice and all, but being part of a pop up book just feels… like it’s fitting? I guess that’s the general feel I’ve gotten from the first 3 games.

I don't think I could've put my feelings on this out there better than you did. The Princess Peach game looks awesome, but that's like a free candy bar vs getting free reign in a candy shop compared to a TTYD remake.
The first time I played this game was on a Walmart demo machine. It was the Petal Meadows section of the game, and I had just finished the original about a month prior. It blew my mind how much the stage aesthetic added to the game, I just had to have it, and it was absolutely magical. I was at work podcasting the Direct. The second I heard the music start, I started crying, and I didn't stop for half an hour. I'm so happy right now...
Fingers crossed they change the English translation to match the Japanese and European version. Still eats me up that one of my favorite games of all time erased its trans representation for English speakers.
There are two kinds of people in this world; the people who don't realize it's a TTYD remake until Rougeport is physically shown, and the people who realize it from the first "du-du-du-du" alone.
