- Hi guys, Almost every year I go back to the Czech Republic, the beautiful country where I lived, studied and worked many years ago. Due to the corona virus I can't go to my beloved city Prague and enjoy all the great things this country has to offer; the Czech beer, the Czech food, the beauty of Prague, the castles, the lovely people etc etc... I even miss their difficult but beautiful language. To tell my Czech friends how I feel about their country I decided to make a short Tribute video with the 3 reasons why I come back every year ! I also lived and worked in Prague for more than 3 years and other than places in Italy, it is my favorite city and country I enjoy going back to. I love the people, there habits and of course the beer.

Your Czech is really good. I can hear mistakes but for a foreigner this is perfect. You've must been in the Czech Republic for really long time to learn this pronuciation.

"Really gold deliciousness" - what a beautiful description. As a Czech I enjoy Dutch beer a lot, the only thing I was bit bothered in Netherlands is that it's served in very small glasses (0.3l I believe)., but man, the price! But at the end of the day it's probably the way it should be, you should enjoy it and not drink it like crazy (as we do).
yeah, the small glasses are ridiculous haha... I don't like Heineken. Since I fell in love with Czech beer I am picky haha. Thanks for watching and commenting. xxx

It is pleasant to see some tourists who don't make mess around. Personally I were really happy with corona. I could visit the city center in Prague first time in about 15 years.
Can we have it at least once in 2-3 years?
Ahoj Pavle! I can totally understand you. The first time I visited Prague in the early 90's there were no tourists. And now that I have seen some footage of the empty streets in lockdown I was jealous not to be there. Lots of love from the Netherlands.
Well, I go back to the Netherlands every single year:) Even had taalcursus last year in Nederlandse taal & cultuur here in Prague. The main reason why I come back to the Netherlands is the people and the atmosphere

Lenny--you are cool! I love your videos full of love for the Czech Republic. I love it too. I have visited 3 times: twice I taught at Západočeská univerzita v Plzni. I am not a beer drinker, except in the Czech Republic. The beer is so good a non-beer drinker can drink it. I love the people, the culture, the history, the architecture, etc. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing more of your videos and the beauty of Bohemia again.

@@LennysLoveChaos Yes...I am an American, and I also love the Netherlands...I visited a cheese market in Alkmaar and have walked around Amsterdam on two different trips (heading to the Czech Republic). The Dutch were very nice to me, and their English language skills were amazing. I teach college English, but hope to retire in a few years. I look forward to the end of this virus so I can visit Europe again...Take care!

Hi, as beer lover, you should come to České Budějovice (because only here in mother city its served properly - best is to visit Budvar Pivnice directly) and taste Budvar Kroužek, for me its best beer in the world (and i have tasted a lot of them :).

Hi Lenny. I didn't know about the beer in the Czech Republic. It sounds like a wonderful place and how nice you got to live there for a few years. The 80s and 90s music at the weekend sounds good. But the plastic glasses are awful, my Mum doesn't like drinking her bitter in plastic glasses. Caleb came in as I was watching this and said Lenny sounds like my Aunt Monique (who is Dutch) but he said your English is amazing. Thanks for sharing xx

Well it was communist regime that time so , not really conducive to my family well being. So we left. If I just have known,that few short years later the regime will fall,I would never leave.

😊I am "beer confessor" and even than Pilsen I rather drink Moravian beer Šerák (11 degrees), which can also be bought in Prague.
Definitely don't miss it and taste it next time.

I lived there for only one year (2010-2011), the rest I lived in a flat, three years in Petřiny and the last year of studies as a wife with my husband in Strašnice. I studied at Charles University, the Faculty of Education 😊 What did you study? This in incredible! 😂
Whaaaat? That is incredible!! I Lived in block 4 in 2003/2004. After that I lived in the center, Petriny also and later in Dejvice. So you must have been to Hvezda? We went often. And to the beautiful park behind Billiart club. I was in Billiart club every night 🤣
I studied Czech language for one year in Albertov. But after one year I gave up lol... Czech language was too complicated 🙄

Hello! Have you been to Olomouc? You would enjoy my calm home town on Sunday afternoon. Once I saw Michael Stipes in 1990 I guess and Robert Fulghum last year here. In 90s there were staying many Dutch people with caravans in our local camps and so since my childhood I know and like your friendly nature.
I have been in Olomouc when I was a teenager! I also visited Unicov - i am not sure if you know that place ? No that I read your message I feel like I need to go again. 💕

hi Lenny - the borders are opening - so we have been looking forward to see you again :-) Wanna see more hidden gems in the city - contact me, I am local guy. The one thing not many visitors mention are Prague side walks mosaics - there is a new trend in recent 2-3 years in the central Prague when renovating the street - to create a unique mosaic (pattern) in front every house! Its made of famous "Prague cubes"

@@LennysLoveChaos Cool - there is many more hideden gems - you love Czech beer - everybody does - its the best in the world (not kidding, u know) - but have u tried original wine made in Prague, from original prague grapes? Planted on the hills in the city centre? There are 3 main areas in very central Prague I know about:
- Sv. Václav under P. castle (villa Richter)
- Sv. Klára next to the ZOO,
- Grébovka on the hill in famous Vinohrady city part (villa, win yard and park Grébovka)
Johnny, you are awesome! I didn’t know this either. I have been in Moravia and there are some real good czech wines but never seen vineyards in Prague!
CZ has two historical wine regions - South east of Moravia is the mian CZ wine rgion - those wines have been historicly connectd to crossborder Austrian wines and also Hungarian wine types, the 2nd one - smaller - is located in Bohemia - about 2O km north of Prague around town of Mělník, focusing on Czech wine types and also connected to German wine types.. And in Prague we have those 3 winyards in the very central Prague.
historical fact - the central part of Prague called "Vinohrady" with really beautiful 1870-1910 houses means in english "Winyards" - its been there since 14th century, it was brought by our Czech king and Kolly Roman emperor Karel IV (Charles the IV) His mother was from finished Czech king Přemysl dynasty and father from Luxemburg dynasty, he estabilished the first University, and more the doubled the Prague - in that time Prague was bigger and much more populated than Paris or London

Looking forward to tourists. Regarding the "heineken in pub" situation - most reasonable czechs do undestand, that different people could have different tastes and that some people want familiar taste more, than allegedly great, but unfamiliar.

I do not see that as tolerant (i am prising my INtolerance in some areas), but i belive in balanced rights and responsibilities for comparable people (age, mental capacity, etc). If i want NO-ONE to force me into drink i do not want for whatewer reason - if i want my right to choose anchored in law, society and common sense, i have to reciprocate, and see other adults as capable and entitled to their own choices. Still might do some advertising, or offer first glass for free thou... :D My thanks to you and your chanel

Don't worry about us, the unemployment rate as risen to 4,8% only from 2,6% before the 2 months lock-down... And we are under R0 for about 5 weeks, so we are almost reopened, on the 25th of May will be reopened the whole country. Flights from Amsterdam will be resumed from tomorrow, but for business and family purposes only, not for a longer stay then 72 hours. But when our borders will be reopened for tourists again, you should definitely come.

@@LennysLoveChaos To be honest, nobody from Czech Republic uses the word Czechia.. NO-BO-DY... It has been introduced few years ago, but the Czechs are still using the Czech Republic term, which is actually still the official name of our country.. It has 2 reasons - first, the confusion by some dumb tourists who think they're in Chechnya (yeah, the most dangerous post-soviet Republic) and the second for us Czechs is, that we are using the term Czechia, or Česko for a part of our country only - there are 3 regions in CZ, which are the Czechia / Česko, then Morava and Slezsko...
Me personally, I am from Mikulov (in Morava), an absolutely gorgeous city near the Austrian border.:)
It's not under UNESCO heritage (should be), but despite that, it's very well known for it's architecture...
Honest Guide is very good, but I would say it's more for the tourists who don't have any experience with our country..
For you, I would suggest to visit the UNESCO CZ site en.czech-unesco.org/ + to add cities such as Mikulov, and Pilsen of course, the birthplace of our best lager beer:) (You can make a tour through the brewery to see how the whole process is done)..
Or you can visit some breweries while being in Prague as well, the best option is to go under www.beerprague.com/, I can highly recommend them.. It's not expensive at all, and you'll get plenty of totally different beers to try.. The average amount is about 14 different beers per tour...
Lenicka is quite pretty, but you would say it only to a small child, or your girlfriend or really very very close friends..

Viktor Novomestsky, Yes I know the story about Czechia and I am so happy to hear not a single Czech person is using it! Because to be honest I think it sounds very stupid. What I meant to discover from the Honest guide where some hidden places that I din’t know about. For example that elevator; I knew about but have never tried to go it. Plsen brewery was amazing and so is Mikulov. I love Moravia... like I said - I am a winedrinker haha... I have been there often with some Czech friends. I worked in hotel Hoffmeister in Prague and we had a close connection with the Jaroslav Springer ( Boretice) .

My last name was Vogels ( before I got married) so we made it Lenicka Ptackova hahaha... Now that I am married my lastname is Wildeboer which means something like wild farmer 😂. HoW would that be in Czech? Great to meet you by the way!

I really hate someone use the word 'republic' so many times in a row, mind you there's an official alternative there -'Czechia' you can use instead...:-] People use it more and more; google it you will see I'm right...:-]

I prefer Ceska Republica an the proper English translation would be Czech Republic. There are so many different opinions and I think it’s great to share them and I really hope you will not be angry if I use it again in other videos and we can still enjoy a good beer together 🇨🇿🍺.
