- We are looking at an experiment with over seeding and using the flail mower to cover with mulch. This will be an alternative to raking the mulch - seeding - covering with mulch. Let's see if this works, hopefully!

I love the way you have managed out the blackberry. Very cool
Hey CK, thanks for your comments. This info came from the CSIRO. 4 cuts (mulch) should reduce the blackberries by 80 - 90 percent. I reckon the percentage is higher more like 95. Cheers
I think that you are on the right track mate.... Keep up the great work...
Thanks Les, much appreciated cheers
Someone told me that he does what you do to sow seed say in the autumn. I imagined that the pasture was a little longer, the seed was broadcast from a tractor mounted spreader and then mulch mowed on top, the idea that the longer grass would create a good layer of mulch. The dew of winter would help germinate the seed. Still an idea.
So . . . whatever happened? How does the overseed plus flail mulch compare to the area with the seed drill plus mulch spread??? I cannot find that video on your feed.
Hey Fred, I should post something on this. A total failure. Just not enough cover, and as the mulch broke down it exposed the seeds and mystic call was sent out to the cockies. They ate well for weeks. The only benefit was, the cockies that found the seeds were black cockies. They have nested in our black block and are now residents. The seeder is certainly the way to go where the seeds sit dormant until the conditions are right.
I have'nt got time to look at the video completley but,,,,,,,,,,, oooooh the "B" word re a seed drill - get a bale or so of hay mix the seed in with it and let the cattle loose. they'll trample it, fertilise it and innoculate it as well. Not that I'm adverse to No "Till seeding, it's just the idea of capital going where cattle can tread for free.
Hey Terry, I'll run an experiment with that idea during the week. Thanks man! I really appreciate the thought. Cheers.
