I have a rescued tortoise, my mom found him in the middle of the where cars were. He was injured and there were no places where a tortoise would live around where i was at the time, we took him home and now hes been living with us for about 6 or 7 years, thank you so much for this!
This video was actually very satisfying to watch, I have a tortoise and this is good to know! When I bathe my tortoise, I put a little towel on the bottom of the sink so that she doesn’t slip :) your tortoise is very cute! She is very calm! Mine is kinda crazy and runs if I try to dry her haha :)
I’ve been sick the last like 6 days and haven’t been interacting with my tortoise as much. I’m better now and was cleaning her cage out and notice that she had like black stuff like stuck up against her back leg in the shell. I’ve been trying to get it out with tweezers but I started pinching her on accident so I stopped. Does anyone know how to clean their legs like inside the shell? Lol
@@milenaf4971 that research is wrong n matter the age bath it once a week bathing almost once a day causes them anal infections as well tortoises don’t bath in wild that much
She's beautiful !!!❤❤ I have videos from other people that own tortoises, and I'm noticing that like us humans, they have their own unique personalities and their shells and faces are distinct. I guess that's why they're so loved and adored !!❤❤🤗🥰 I wish I could get one but I'm on a fixed income and I'm up in age. I'm well aware that it could out-live me and If something happened to me, I'd be worried about who would take care of it and give it the love that it deserves, so I'll love them vicariously through owners like you !!! 🥰🥰🥰❤❤🐢 Just one suggestion ; buy a FRESH toothbrush so that she doesn't get any illnesses that may transfer from a used brush. A kid's toothbrush is usually what other tortoise parents use.
I want to get a tortoise so may I ask how big does their cage/ enclosure needs to be? And also what is the smallest species to find, because we don't have much space to keep a big enclosure.
Hello! The enclosure size for your tortoise varies between species so firstly decide which species you want to keep and then look into enclosures. One of the most popular tortoises to keep because of they compact size are Russian/Horsefield tortoises and Hermann’s tortoises. I hope I was able to help!
When they are still babies, you should bathe everyday. When they get older you should provide a shallow dish with water for them to soak whenever they please. If they don't soak on their own, you can bathe them 2-3 times per week.
@@TheGreatPetShop thank you they are so cute I have a Russian tortoise. And your helping me with a lot of stuff to do. I just bought puppy pads for when I have her roaming around the house I can lay them out and she can do her business on them.
My tortoise lives outdoors so his plastron gets dirty really often and when I scrub it, 90% of the time he urinates all over me like he sprays it and stuff. Any tips?
They will urinate on you when scared, it's normal but should be avoided. They loose a lot of hydration by doing so. Unfortunately there's not much you can do. Try giving him a bath as shown in the video and avoid picking him up, that usually stresses them out. If you have to pick him up try to support at least two of his legs so that he feels safer. Avoid picking him up fully off of the ground and scrub very lightly to clean him. You can firstly let him get used to being soaked and only later on introduce the scrubbing/brushing aspect. I hope this was helpful and let me know how it goes!
I’m sorry but I have a marginated tortoise is a year old but I don’t know if you’re supposed to get water and it’s like head or like fees because I searched it up on the Internet and this is your knowledge to do that but I see people do it so can you give me your personal preference if I can get water on top of his face
Baby tortoises need more regular soaks than adults and I highly recommend that you do just that. Make sure the water is shallow enough that they can stick their heads out, but deep enough that they can submerge their heads in and have a drink. Hope this helps!
What type of dog is a this?

I have 3 yr old marginated tortoise and I wasn't sure about brushing them
You can brush them, just be gentle about it and use a soft toothbrush.

Try soaking her in warm water, it might soften up whatever is stuck on her shell. I hope it helps!
@@TheGreatPetShop I went to give her a bath and all the stuff was gone lol.
How often should I bathe my tortoise?
Depends on the age:
0-1 year: 4-5 times per week
2-3 years: 2-3 times per week
4 or older: 1 time per week
(did this by research)
@@milenaf4971 that research is wrong n matter the age bath it once a week bathing almost once a day causes them anal infections as well tortoises don’t bath in wild that much
@@milenaf4971 that's wrong. You bathe them atleast once a month because if you bath them too often it can hurt their skin.
When she said “anything I want!”. I got some cursed thoughts
I can't even use the thing to bathe my tortoise she is so small not even the size of my hand I have to use a bowl 🥲

is regular tap water ok to bathe them in?
For the most part, yes. But if you have a something like ReptiSafe (amzn.to/43PS1ey) I would highly recommend you use it.

Of course you can. Just be careful of the depth of water and it's temperature.
What if the tortuise doesn’t stop pooping in the water?

Why are u washing your tautest in your sink;-;
Because they fit XD and it's easier for me.
Does it matter if its a desert tortoise?
I don't think so. Maybe the frequency changes since it's a desert species. So you might want to bathe it less.
Is a tortoise a land turtle?
a tortise is a land tortise , turtle is a turtle , simple as that
How often do you wash her?
Every day
twice a week when they are adults, everyday when they are babies
